    This is actually Hinata 'True starting line' for him as a Volleyball player. So far the show highlight Hinata 'good' moment, but not his relative skill level as a individual player.

    I would argue about Takeda's words and Ukai's words being "conflicting advice." "He who climbs the ladder must start at the bottom" and "Don't underestimate being a ball boy" are actually ideas in agreement, just worded differently. For Takeda, what's important is that Hinata understands that he can't be on top without putting in all the effort in every area. For Ukai, what's important is that Hinata does not perceive the role of ball boy as unimportant or as unnecessary as a player. In both of their minds, Hinata needs to remember that he's still got a ways to go and each and every step is an important part of the process.

    That's why I love Hinata's character, he's a hard worker, he couldn't learn volleyball like the others, so his whole life was about him making the obstacle an opportunity to achieve his dream. And I think a lot of people don't understand this about the character, even though it's obvious, but here is definitely the true starting line for hinata

    Ah yes, the "Hinata isn't as good as you think he is" training arc, my favorite. Don't get me wrong! Hinata is a very talented player, but if you lack the basics, how can you support your team as an all-around player?
    Now we get to see that Ushiwaka was kinda right in what he said about Hinata. He sensed his ambition, but saw that he lacks the basic foundations you need in order to be an average volleyball player. If you can't dig the ball nothing is going to start.

    I'm guessing you guys are ahead of this current episode, but it's worth pointing this out nonetheless...
    You guys are missing the elephant in the room. Why do you think the Shiratorizawa coach went out of his way to give him a path for him to still be in the camp? Why do you think Hinata gets yelled at for being a ball boy? Because Washijou doesn't like him? No, that's not true. We know the reason why Washijoy yells at a player, we've been told how he does things since the third season. He's harsh with players he's counting on.
    That's all I'm giving you guys in case it hasn't clicked already.

    Hinata has raw talent but he missed on so much fundamentals not practicing with a team in his junior year, so this is his chance to get away from all his being boxed in as a good decoy and redevelop his techniques from scratch to become an all around good player.
    I love this arc for how much pay off it has later on in this season in particular and the series in general

    The coach is right tho. Hinata is relying on the same old tricks and he gets lucky with it. The reason why he’s being so hard on him is because he was in his shoes one time and he doesn’t want hinata to go through the same thing he did. I think that’s the reason why he had him receiving the ball, so he could hopefully learn how to receive. Like he didn’t want to become his coach but the least he could do was teach him the fundamentals he was missing. As an athlete and I’m sure any athlete would agree with me on this when I say there are athletes or maybe even us who are specifically good in one category, but yet lack the talent in other categories. Trust me tho hinata WILL get way better trust me

    The thing about what Hinata did was that there are a lot of “what ifs” surrounding the scenario. “What if he didn’t learn anything from being a ball boy? What if he didn’t get to play with the players at all? What if there was no one to advise him to change his perspective? What if they didn’t invite him to play with him?”
    Instead of practicing with his team, building strategies, honing his volleyball skills with his team. The fact still remained that if he didn’t get anything out of that sneaking in scenario, he would have wasted his entire time that he would have used to practice and learn more with his team. In real life, it’s too much of a risk considering they are going to Nationals and they don’t have enough time.

  • @aceofspade2120
    @aceofspade2120 2 года назад +4

    It's an idea about how Hinata can get better. I know we've seen him do a lot of great stuff, but as a pure volleyball player, he can't really play any defense consistently, and he's a middle blocker. Defense is supposed to be his thing. He can still barely receive, etc. So it's about learning what you can do why you are sitting and watching and observering. Just like if you were the ball boy for the Warriors or Celtics, you would learn to watch and anticipate the ball movement.
    Hinata, as a player, is still extremely raw. He's the opposite of Kagayama

      @@aniket8350 It's good to see someone with my point of view. Yes, Hinata, still has a lot of work to do if he wants to become a great volleyball player in his own right, but Tsukishima is also a rookie player who has a lot of room for improvement and yet HE was invited. Even if it's not the case, the coach really does make it seem like height and power are what's most important when it comes to being an amazing volleyball player.

    Love the image of Hinata standing in the closet with mops in hand--it's a visual representation of him literally starting over (mentally) from the ground up. In order to become truly great & to be able to stand on his own two feet as an athlete (i.e. without needing Kageyama to define him as a player), he needs to start again at the bottom, even if it means doing menial tasks around the court. It almost reminds me of how in traditional Chinese martial arts (namely Kung Fu/Wushu in the Shaolin monasteries), people who wanted to train martial arts actually wouldn't even be allowed to learn even the most basic of the basics for a long time (sometimes years) in order to test how much they truly wanted to learn. Back in the day, Wushu/Kung Fu weren't just a martial arts system--it was a way of life that required the highest level of devotion in order to begin training and to master. Volleyball is very much the same way for Hinata.

    I completely believe the normies will understand more the point of this 'ball boy' arc as time goes on, but I think it bears repeating now: there's ALWAYS something you can do to improve in any situation.
    Think of Dachi, Sugawara and Asahi when they first joined Karasuno; no matches, barely any practise time because the gym kept being given away. They were also left as ball boys and forced to do little but pick up lost balls. At this point, they didn't have nationals on the way or even a team to play on as first years.
    But they used the ball boy job to practice receives, stayed late to work on their serves (this is why Suga even gets to play in the show by the by, his 'not so refreshing serves'). They found Shimizu to work as their manager and never stopped searching for ways to improve.
    The phrase 'chance favors the prepared mind' may seem played out and cliche, but it has a lot of value in life. You're not always going to know when a great oppertunity is going to come to you, heck it may not happen until years into whatever activity it is.
    But when chance comes knocking, those who put in the work and prepared themselves for its arrival will be first in line to reap the benefits. A large part of success is genuinely being ready to take it, and Hinata's greatest strength is his ability and will to eke EVERY LAST DROP of improvement out of any situation on the off chance it'll help down the line.

      @karaseirin 2 года назад +1

      @@kaxewdisco3594 at this point I think he's still the worst, he has worse fundamentals than anyone else because it's his first year playing real volleyball.
      If Kageyama wasn't playing I would rather have Narita, Kinoshita or Yamaguchi because they would actually dig some spikes
      Ennoshita is definitely better than Hinata, him and Suga are the best 2 players in the bench by a lot.

    We all love Hinata but sometimes that love blinds us to the fact that if you step back and look at him as a volleyball player, he is not that great at this moment. Everything that coaches have said is true. He is very talented, but he's not skilled at volleyball at this point in time. He is missing all the fundamentals besides spiking and in volleyball every skill is extremely important. He can barely receive or serve the ball, his blocks are random, and he's managed to avoid setting in emergency situations so far. But he can't perform these skills at a basic level which can quickly lead to lost points.
    This is something that Hinata has to come to terms with understand what he needs to grow as a player and you'll see that play out wonderfully in the next few episodes.

    The denial about Hinata and Washijo is hilarious, but not uncommon. Hinata is a solid player, but so much of what he can do right now is due to Kageyama, which is why he's much less effective when Kageyama has to come off the court. (He also didn't play in set 5 against Shiratorizawa until Kageyama came in for that reason).
    Washijo isn't also just going to change his mind. Hinata needs to become a better player. And Washijo, despite being grumpy, is a fantastic coach, and he is teaching Hinata in the best way for Hinata right now.
