This was a small quiet town with a police force of maybe 6, that has a kid neighbor get hold of an AR15 assualt rifle with more arsenals and body armour( protection) he outgunned police. Guess people don't get it.

@@jameshicks8872 Correct, you have hopefully neighboring police to call for help, but they had a 18 year old who was armed not with just a pistol but an semi-automatic (quick shots-military type) assault rifle, not just one but 2, with more arsenals and body armour- am sure they also didn't know if there was one or more hold up in school, this was a small town with a small police force completely unprepared for what happened- Something that never happened there before. So whose fault is it really?

But boy, those cops sure were gung ho about subduing distraught parents in anguish outside, beseeching them to go in and try to save their children. One parent was handcuffed, another was maced, and one cop even drew his taser just in case the parents got too grief-stricken and challenged his authority. They make me sick to my stomach. I can never forgive them.
I don’t understand there is an entire swat team who is armed and trained for these situations and they don’t want to take the risk because one person that’s crazy has a gun. ONLY 1 PERSON!!
Absolutely disgusting and reprehensible. As a LEO you understand and accept the risks that come with the duty. If you are unable to perform and uphold the law as a peace officer then should not hold such a position. Standing around for an hour as kids are mercilessly shot is unforgivable. All I can say is I’m so very sorry to the children that suffered and died at the hands of a madman and the parents that lost their babies. They all deserved better from all of us.

And by looking at some of them, I'm willing to bet that some couldn't pass a basic Physical Training Test. If the military conducts them on a regular basis, why can't law enforcement? Lots of them get winded just running a block. Granted they're carring some extra weight; not as much as the military, but they should have been in better shape to do so.

Courts have ruled that “protection is not promised” by cops. So legally, cops can stand there and watch someone stab you and they are not obliged to do anything because they have “officer’s discretion”

The question is what should be done with the cops that were there. I think being fired is a good start. If they're not brave enough to take on an active shooter they shouldn't be police officers.

The first report was the police chase this kid because there was a Bolo out for this kid for shooting his grandmother.
In the process he wrecked his car and on feet he ran to the school and went in the school. Now everything has changed and continues to changed
Inexcusable. The police should have arrived immediately and gone in to confront that monster. This is how law enforcement there responds to such emergencies?
Beginning with the first school schooling at Columbine HS, this is how all the cops responded. At Columbine, it took police 45 minutes to finally enter the building to rescue students from two shooters. That was in 1999. I think they had to change their diapers first. At Uvalde, 2022, it took over one hour for the police to finally respond to the one shooter. What's inexcusable is that police have been training for this scenario since 1999 and their reaction time is slower and the body count is higher.

If you read the Uvalde Police statement they posted on Facebook, one thing that stood out was this "Our entire department is thankful that the officers did not sustain any life threatening injuries"......uh yeah, why would they if they all stood outside the school waiting for more backup.
You DO NOT move back and take cover. You take bullet, keep going and make sure that the kids are safe or die trying. I think the vast majority of people would trade their lives to save CHILDREN. My god, those cops should be fired, jailed, branded like cows as cowards.

First Responders: in about an hour, and when it is safe.
They waited for the gunfire to cease, then the whole of Texas' police force arrived in 528 cars and trucks as seen @1:33.
Wow those officers are cowards. They tried to save they own lives instead of saving others. Which I thought that was the job they suppose to be doing. This is heartbreaking. They were told not to by their commander. A soldiers inaction is his co's responsibility, not the soldiers. Going against the order would of probably gotten them arrested by the other cops still following orders

It was a small quiet town with a small police force of 5 who never experienced an armed young man 18 years old, with AR15 semiautomatic rifle ( military type)with more arsenals and had on Body armour. Yes police were overwhelmed with firepower.

Not quite the same, the parkland cop was already inside the bldg. Did they know this kid was a lone gunman? Or that he only had a gun, no IED? Did the shooting stop by the time the 1st two cops arrived? (Last week's Buffalo shooting was about the same number dead and you know how long that took? About 35 seconds to shoot 20 ppl. They run out of ammo usually before the first cop gets there... If you don't hear bangs, it's no longer an "ACTIVE shooter" and if there's silence >30 secs, he probably won't just suddenly go active again (most jams can be cleared in 10secs by a pro or 30secs by a noobie kid).

The situation is being mischaracterizing, the local police were in the school at the door exchanging gunfire with the shooter. He was barricaded in a room with semi-automatic rifle camping the door shooting at them as they tried entering. They held him there until backup could arrive with body armor and riot shield needed to penetrate the room

No 18 year old NEEDS an AR15. PERIOD.
All schools need a automatic lock system, ones that are wired directly to the security room watched 24/7, once all teachers/kids are accounted for the doors should be locked and stay locked until its time to go home, anyone guarding over this should not let anyone leave or come in without a valid reason, a emergency, knows anyone in the school on a personal level and that's it. This system should also have a emergency unlock when the smoke detectors go off in the school. That might seem like a lot of money that'll have to go into that but when it comes to children the amount of money that'd cost should not even come to mind, their safety is all that matters.
There should never be the excuse that the technology isn't good enough either, not in this day of age.

An 18 yr old with an AR-15 is enough to stop an entire "well" trained gun loving Texas police department...
The gun laws ,the gun laws...really. It doesn't matter what gun laws you have, This kid just turned 18,no evidence they claim of mental or criminal issues .The kid snapped for whatever reason ,and reality ,that's gonna happen no matter how strict gun laws are.
Bigger issues here ( besides stricter gun laws) ,red flag as a shop owner ,to have a young adult, come in on his 18th birthday and get a ar15 or any firearm ( first time buyer at that, possibly by himself ) and 200-350- rounds for target shooting then come back a short time frame after and get another ( as a shop owner this is a bit of a red flag). Weather a person passes a background check or not , I believe as a shop owner you can refuse anyone to purchase, if you notice something off ,on a purchase .But the kid got by all this legally .We cant control someone's mental status, this young man was clearly mentally having issues .None of us know the hole background of him ,but drop out of school ,fighting a lot from what they say ,buying a firearm when he turns 18 , is really a warning sign ( that comes within the home to notice this as guardians) , no gun law needed ,But no one noticed......
