    Where George says "sounds like Hendrix"...that chord is the 7sharp9, also known at the Hendrix Chord! Good ear, George!

    • @helmedon
      @helmedon 2 года назад +21

      I was going to say the same thing. There's a reason why people say so and so sounds like Hendrix. It's because he invented an entirely unique sound. Not only with his overdriven amps and style, but he was plating things others simply hadn't though of yet. I love throwing that "Hendrix chord" in blues riff now and then to add some dirt to the groove. That and a fast vibrato, string bending mania.

Many of their pictures/videos feature '60s or 70s go-go dancers. Rob is a huge movie buff, loves the old horror stuff and has produced his own that have done fairly well. Really talented guy.

    Rob is a huge movie and anime fanatic. Dialogue excerpts and sound effects from all kinds of shows and movies are just his thing, and it occurs all throughout (almost) every album in his career. And yes those elements were even done live, but there was more to it with live videos on screens giving the audience a reference point if they didn't know the source material. But the songs were also longer live as well, at least back then. Also when Rob went solo and White Zombie ended after the tour of Astro Creep 2000, there's more of an infusion of electronics and samples as well as dialogue and sound effects!
    Definitely any song from La Sexorcisto is a gem! Can't go wrong with any of them. I recommend

    They were considered "alternative metal" when this came out -- the riffs were heavy but catchy, and wouldn't have been out of place alongside Motley Crue's "Dr. Feelgood"; the sampling (and, later, keyboards) pointed toward industrial metal, but their whole schtick seemed to reach back toward the analog past; Rob's lyrics frequently reference everything which the PMRC slapped warning labels on metal records for... but it was all done with tongue firmly planted in cheek. There just wasn't anyone like them out there, so... "alternative metal."

Him and the band don't get along, and if you hear his side of the story combined with the revolver interview for the 25th anniversary for this record with the band, it seems Rob was just done.
