  • HEY EVERYONE! I've added a bunch of links in the video description to things that people have been asking me about (my school bag, planner, Copics, artwork, etc). Please check it out!
Hello again everybody! I seem to keep disappearing... I swear I don't mean to! D: I had planned to film this and post it the weekend of the 25th of August, but I ended up taking an impromptu trip to New York and when I got back it was time to crank out all my projects for summer term finals. But, good news is I'm on a short break until the 2nd of October, so hopefully I'll be able to get some stuff done for my channel.
Anyway, new workspace tour video! Yay! It's been a year since I posted my last workspace video (I can't believe it's been that long), I've have dozens of requests to make an update since many of you know my workspace is totally different now. I really enjoy watching these kinds of videos. :) In other news, still working on my Q&A video/videos(?), room tour filmed and ready to go, go some half finished illustrations to finish and I'm piecing together a sort of 'what I did this summer' type vlog thing that should be fun.
As I said at the end of the video, if you want to know where I got something from I'll do my best to answer you!
Thanks for watching! Please comment, rate and subscribe!

I started teaching myself anatomy from books until I was in community college and could take figure drawing classes. It takes a long time to learn how to get proportions accurate, and it takes even longer to be able to draw the figure from memory rather than using reference, which is what I really wanted to learn how to do. I've been practicing for several years. :)

They're made by Hot Toys. I purchased them from the Sideshow Collectables website. I added the link to them in the video description. But be warned: they are very expensive.

I'm not sure of the proper name - I call them 1/6 scale maquettes. I put a link to where I bought them in the video description.

That was thirty minutes and forty nine seconds of sheer heavenly bliss. If you only knew how much I love your desk area with all the art supplies and little containers and paper and so on. I have always dreamed of being able to draw but sadly I was never given the talent. So I just watch these videos and pretend. Thank you for the tour. It was lovely.

The David Tennant picture is by Alice Zhang, check her Society6 shop, that's where I got it from. The bag is from the LawraraShop, I added a link to that exact bag in the video description. :)

Not going to say what my mother does for a living, but she is very supportive of anything I choose to do. As long as I'm happy it's fine with her, I am lucky to have someone as understand and open as she is. :)

I usually buy them from the Kinokuniya bookstore in Beaverton, OR. They usually sell them at shops that have Japanese stationary.

I'm still in school, I've dabbled in a lot of different types of animation and other entertainment related studies (3D animation, 2D animation, editing, lighting and texturing, graphic design, etc). There are some aspects that are similar to fine art, you have to take tons of drawing classes no matter what program you're studying. But, it's more geared towards learning about the entertainment industry at the same time, since all the fields offered at my school are for entertainment.

A little bit yeah... but I usually get tons of questions anyway, but not so many at once. lol Saying I'd try and answer all the questions seemed like a good idea at the time. :d

I buy them from Oozak (I added a link to the website in the video description), it's the cheapest website I've found Copics and the customer service is great. :) They're still expensive, but buying Copics is an investment after all.

I normally don't buy pens or markers at Michaels, I only buy storage units from there. As for storage suggestions... everyone likes to store things differently, but I personally prefer keeping my supplies in cases and storage units. I have a different type of case for each kind of tool that I have, pencils, markers, etc. It really depends on the type of space you have that will determine what kind of storage you will need.

Yes, they are expensive. I bought a 72 set about 2 years ago to test them out to see if I liked them and I did, so I bought the rest - it took me about a year to get them all (I have the entire set now). :)

I got the red lead at the Blick art supply store that's by my school (Portland, OR). The Monolith pencils are wood-less drawing pencils, they have very creamy lead in them so they flow very nicely on a page.

Prismacolors - Blick, Mannequins - there is a link in the video description, fan... I don't remember. The two books by Macoto Takahashi where purchased from BeNippon, which was an online store that sold Japanese books, but it closed down after the tsunami. I haven't seen anywhere reasonably priced for those books since.

I was 23 when I first started buying Copics. So no, I didn't have to beg my mom for them, I waited until I was old enough to buy them for myself with my own money. I also waited until I felt that I was artistically ready to buy them (otherwise I would have bought them straight out of high school), just so I knew that I would get as much use out of them that I could and they wouldn't go to waste. :)

Doctor Who FTW! The cutting mat is just a basic artists cutting mat (I'm not sure of the brand), I believe it's 14x14 inches, so it's a pretty decent size. It's perfect for keeping my desk clean. :)

I love that you actually went through everything! A lot of desk tours and room tours just film a shelf and they say what's there and do that the whole time but you actually took stuff out of the shelves and showed us! It was really cool and I found this really interesting! ^_^

You should be able to use the Letraset paper with any lightbox. I use 120lb paper with my lightbox, that is heavy paper and I have no problems. I always recommend using Gina K Pure Luxury cardstock for use with Copics - that's the best paper I've found if you're worried about bleeding. It doesn't bleed at all and it works great on a light box. :)

It is fun, but it is very challenging and time consuming. You'll also have to learn about other aspects of 3D animation. You'll have to learn modeling, texturing, lighting, rigging. Most people who start out in 3D start out as modelers or something similar before they move on to other things like animation.

  • @MissKerrieJ
    @MissKerrieJ  12 лет назад

I can't actually show any of it... all the work I would show is going into my animation reel when I graduate, so I don't want to post it online.

Copic hold classes to become certified (there is a list of classes on their website), they last the entire day and are more oriented towards papercrafters than fine artists, but they teach you about techniques, tools, etc. My room looks more grown-up because I got rid of that terrible pink paint. XD I like it a lot more now.

^^; I don't really consider myself to be a famous RUclips artist, but thank you! Some advice I can give you is: update often, not like everyday or anything, but when I started out I was updating once a week (this was before I was in school), it shows dedication to your viewers. Do your very best work - don't post something for the sake of posting something, make sure it's work that you're proud of, viewers will be able to see that. Be kind, open to suggestions and don't forget to have fun!

I'm getting Comic Master Tracing light board.
