Russian army in Ukraine was only 190 000 at the beginning of the war. They definitely didn't intend to take Kiev or something of the kind. They wanted to force Zelenskyy to a negotiation table. Since then Russian aims changed. Russian army is getting stronger by the day, while Zelenskyy army is going down the drain. It's obvious that Kharkov can't be the main direction of Russian offensive, but the problem is that Zelenskyy nevertheless needs reserves to halt this offensive and hold the front elsewhere. Reserves that he has been lavishly wasting for months in his nutty PR media hype offensives and last stands. Reserves that are no longer there. Russians know it.

Zelenskyy's presidential term end on 20 May and Ukraine will be without a president. Why would Russians want to negotiate with Zelenskyy? His term ends in 7 days and after that he likely will be a dead man walking. Russians will negotiate with Ukrainians willing to negotiate and that would have to be someone far less connected to the West than Zelenskyy is.

Why did they got close to kiev with those long colums then? they had huge casulties, was it some kindof warning, dont really make much sense to me.. also whole russian economy has changed to full war time economy, that tells that orginal plan didnt went as they wanted it

    • @aaronpaul9188
      @aaronpaul9188 24 дня назад

They absolutely thought they could take kiev with the forces they assigned. They assumed ukraine wouldnt seriously fight back and badly planned the operation as a result. Their incompetence at the start is not an asset and it a lie to say they never intended to take kiev.

The approach to Kiev was to force a quick negotiation and to distract Ukrainian forces away from the donbas region to winch Russia took very quickly. Once Russia had the territories they initially planed to take. They used the established front to grind down the Ukrainian military to it's current weakend state. Putin pulled the forces from Kiev in the early stage of the conflict as part of the first agreement to begin the negotiations as a sign of good faith. However the powers in the West belived in a war they couldn't win....again.

Tanks in 60% of their life on the frontline serve as ATGM launchers.
Since they can launch ATGMs from their barrel.
BMD-4 BTMP, BMPs serve as machine gun pillboxes dug into the ground.
And BMP-4 serves as a mortar launcher.
The Russians use their vehicle mainly as armoured long range fire support.
When they use them as battling rams to advance while being under FPV and artillery fire the soul purpose of the vehicle is to deploy infantry.
Then the surviving vehicles return and keep supporting the forward strom Z squads.
Then Russian FPV drones and artillery joins in.
In barely an hour the Russians managed to create a bridgehead that has everything to detect and repel a Ukrainian attack or armoured convoy.
Under the cover of the night many Russians storm troopers return and those who remain on the forward newly occupied Post are on surveillance
So even if the previously abandoned vehicles of the mechanised attack get destroyed by the Ukrainians its already Russian territory and the value of that vehicles is close to none

Yea, i dont think the kharkiv offensive is meant to take kharkiv right now either. Not enough guys.
I remember dima saying that around Apr/May the Russians on the main front would probably need to take a break. Maybe this kharkiv offensive is designed to draw off the ukraines to the point that the main front can indeed pause.

4:30---Bingo! And this failure of Rus intel led to misjudgments all the way down the line, from having an airborne transport being shot down with elite troops onboard, through using poorly equipped, trained and disciplined troops to handle occupation duties, to having supply convoys being shot up by ad hoc Ukr guerrilla forces and abandoned vehicles left behind in perfect condition. Remember that 40-klick-long armored convoy stuck for a month without fuel? They were lucky Kiev was so unprepared most of it managed to eventually make a getaway.
Not to mention endemic corruption at every level of military organization. It's no wonder that Shoigu has finally been replaced by an economist(!) with a no-nonsense reputation.

Cessna planes travelling 1400 km through Russian airspace to blow up oil refineries,....waterpipes bursting all over during the winter,.... bursting dams that flood 500K population cities that nobody can or will do anything about,....Wagner's Thunder Run towards Moscow,.... Gazprom's profits dropping from +$38B to -$7B loss, net -$45B costing the Russian government about $14B in taxes and dividends,.... $300B in assets frozen by the international community because Putin didn't tell the head of his Central Bank that the war was going to happen,.....40mi convoy running out of gas,....openly discussing war crimes of taking Ukrainian children to Siberia,.....Finland and Sweden joining NATO,.....Georgia holding enormous anti-Russia protests just as Ukraine did 10 years ago,...military loss on Snake Island(!!!),..."run away" panic as Ukraine retook the Kharkhiv region,....losing the Black Sea to country without a navy,...terror attack on the Moscow theatre that kills 150 people over the course of a full hour while the FSB station isn't even 5 minutes away.
Honestly, this list is something I'd expect to see out of a satirical comedy about boondoggling dictatorship. The Season 5 season finale of this comedy is that Ukraine develops a nuke and flattens Moscow after dictator orders a tactical nuke strike. The audience is left wondering, "how could nobody inform the dictator that this was the obvious conclusion?".

VOR: "Russia doesn't want to take territory. Russia will take territory with the defeat of the Ukrainian military."
Reality: Russia is in desperate sprint mode to gobble up as much territory as they can because their foreign-operation induced 7-month advantage over Ukraine is near an end. This is what maximum effort from Russia looks like, and it looks the same as the last 27 months of the war.
Evidence: Czech has indicated that 180K artillery shells will arrive in Ukraine in June.
Evidence: Ukraine has been flying Cessna type planes 1,200 or 1,400 mi/km un-intercepted through Russian territory to destroy oil refineries.
Evidence: US HIMARS, ATACMS and lighting up Russian targets. In Bagdad-Bob worthy cringe, Russia keeps pretending all missiles are intercepted despite the warm glow of distant infernos.
Evidence: SHOIGU got fired. Just like Gerasimov. Just like Surovikin. Just like Dvornikov. Just like Zhidko. Like Prigozhin and Utkin, but gentler. Obviously the big boss isn't happy. Whatever ridiculous "strategy" that VOR is rambling about, if it was ever actually real, just went out the window.
Evidence: F16s are now reported to arrive in Ukraine within "weeks". That will likely curb or outright end the costless use of FABs.
So it's a Hail Mary. But boy,...when Russia doesn't gain any noticeable ground over the next 6-weeks VOR will be able to tell everyone,...."not wrong, Russia never wanted to". What a pile of BS.

Russia is winning ground, but lose a lot of soldiers and tanks on the backside. Oil get less because Ukraine attack that. Soon Russia have no fuel anymore. So how long the Russian can go on like this?

The Ukrainian attacks on the refineries are more harassing attacks, as they can not (or do not, Iunno) outpace the repairs. Even if it was, they already export to India and could import diesel in a reciprocal deal.

@@lintrichards6007Merely "harassing attacks" and "sanctions have no impact" no doubt.
Meanwhile in reality Gazprom went from a $38B profit to a -$7B loss for a net change of $45B. Given Russia receives both taxes plus dividends as the largest shareholder,....this ONE Company alone has likely dropped Russian government revenues by ~$14B.
"Is that a lot" you ask? Well Russia's spending on its military in 2021 was about $66B. So yeah,...that's a devastating impact.
