When you ran into this problem I'm thinking that why not just use hose clamps. Back in the '80s when we were rapping everything under the hood we would use stainless steel hose clamps and mechanics wire. There's a few tricks with the wire that holds just as well as a worm clamp. I love your theme under the hood. I have bled for blue since I was 16. 100 years later that's all I have. I'm getting ready to pick up another 7.3 next week that the body is in okay shape but the bed will have to be replaced or completely rebuilt. I was looking for a winter project and I came across a pretty good deal when I have f-350 with 200,000 MI and a 5-speed. It's the original owner and he has never done any modifications to the engine. So I'm planning on pulling it out and rebuild it over the winter and start messing with the body on nice days outside. I really enjoyed watching your video I made sure to give you a big old thumbs up and hit the subscribe button. Look forward to watching more of your videos.
Hey I really appreciate the engagement. I hope you have an amazing build and have as much fun as I have working on these rigs. More vids to come for sure.
I had the same problem with mine rubbing against the power steering pump. I wound up buying a new pipe from Riffraff and wrapped it. Avoiding all the mess.
I really do love riffraff products. Paying a premium premium price for a premium product is the right answer if you’re into the build for the long and quality haul
@@73LiterTruckStuff I think I have about every part Riffraff offers for my 01 7.3. Just got done with the CS2 tuner and gauges. It shows boost, EGT, fuel pressure, oil pressure and coolant temp.
@@vincebotkin1960 Gettin nothing for this from RiffRaff I can tell you that.... I feel the same way! ha! There have been times I've bought RiffRaff parts and realized later I didn't need them because I had already bought the parts from another manufacturer and just hadn't installed them yet, ha! Great company tho- I love what they stand for.
@@andrewturner7424 Appreciate the compliment. In reality every time I work on the engine I’m wiping it down. That with new parts gives the “general” appearance of being clean 🤣
So what you’re seeing in the vid is a coolant filter that’s white. It’s made by sinister diesel and the white filter is made by wix. The oil filter I’m currently running in the truck is a K&N, also white, easy to get off and on because they add a notch at the bottom for a socket but moving forward I’ll go with Ford Motorcraft on most parts & fluids since these trucks prefer Motorcraft over anything else. Hope that helps.
So what did you do to gain more clearance from the power steering pump bolt that rubbed the pipe? Also where did you get that rubber seal on the back of your truck between the bed and tailgate?
Chuck, thanks for reaching out and i appreciate your support. The original wrap was much thicker then the blue wrap that I installed so that bought me some space and I ensured I adjusted the pipe just enough when I was clamping it down that it wasn’t rubbing after this install. As for the rubber seal, that was actually an Amazon purchase! Super easy install.
4 in stainless steel no Hub bands. Discard the rubber and you're all set. Put one over the dimple from the nut to protect it they look good too. Can get them anywhere plumbing supply Home Depot Lowe's check it out
👍 Chipolte is ok, but yeah, not on a motor😂👍 new parts are fun! I have a V10 so really doesn’t apply to me Damn that looked hammered! Yeah, fiberglass SUCKS to work with Weird that it’s rubbing so hard like that You might want to invest in a harbor freight grinder, and they have an excellent return policy Looking great!
I enjoy the channel but you wrapped that horribly. Try putting it on tightly and only use enough for coverage. You didn't need to use the whole roll it looks sloppy. It actually looks good when done correctly
Thanks for watching the channel! I’ll add this to the list of things I don’t do well, starting with marriage 🤣. You should consider making a how-to vid and I’ll do a re-wrap based on your instructions...we can call it a collaboration! Be good my man!
Unfortunately i don't have your personality or rugged good looks and my camera and editing skills are nonexistent. I wasn't hating. I do enjoy the channel and your perspective plus you've got a bad a** truck. Keep making videos, I will keep watching
@@leewagoner8480 Thanks Lee and I appreciate all feedback for sure. Ya’ll keep me honest. I’m in the middle of about 4 videos right now so when the project is done on the truck I’ll have several videos dropping back to back. Keep kickin’ ass my man!!
I agree with @lee wagoner and I'm not hating at all, I'm doing the same mods to my excursion 7.3 thanks to you and your ravishing good looks Mr. 7.3. Definitely consider a rewrap just to make it look presentable when you open that hood! And yes it looks way better than a Chipotle burrito.... mmm Chipotle, now I'm hungry 🤤

Hell yeah dude! That’s awesome!
I can’t wait to fix my truck up like I want it

Haha good job sir!! No idea why they shoved that burrito in there from factory lol
It's your world, I'm just livin' in it! ha! (and thanks!)
Heck yea. Great vid. Personally, not wrapping it perfectly gives it character. Good stuff.

Has the Blue wrap faded white ?

Do you know the difference between a e99 and a late 99 7.3 ?
I feel like there’s a follow-on question you have to this comment
Why loosen both clamps if you don’t take boot off?
If I remember correctly I did take the boots off and wiped them down and put it all back on clean.
Following your channel now! How is the wrap 1 mo later?
Richard Urban fantastic man! Hasn’t faded at all and surprisingly cool to the touch
Like the knife. Who is the manufacturer please. It isnnice to see that your Garage is as organised as mine.
Paul Bateman, it’s a Fox Dart XT and I love it.
