I like brompton and just recently learned about the helix. What an awesome bike, which combines the versatility of the brompton with the stability of larger wheels. For touring a fantastic option.
Now just for anyone watching - the brompton doesn‘t fold open if the saddle is down. That locks the bike into position.

Wow thanks so much man! That answers all my questions. The trolley mode looks quite uncomfortable on the helix indeed. And I think it you have any luggage on it while folded it will easily topple over.
I like bringing my brompton as a trolley to the supermarket, I think with some modifications the I could make it work on the helix too

Hi man. I need explain diferent folding between brompton and helix. Brompton you fold to "itself" - after folding the frame is protecting brake levers, shifter lever and on back wheel derailleur. And when you unfold handles - it is in "twist" position - so luggage rack is heading to middle of bike. On the other hand helix if folding "beside" frame, so brake disk is heading ot from bike, on the other side is unprotected chain and handles is also heading brake levers out from bike. So in folding position is bromptom much better protectet it self when I put it to car trunk for example. I dont care about brompton. Helix is unprotected from all side, and I am afraid about sensitive parts (brake disk, chain...). And on helix when is foldet and you unfold only handlebars - they heading out from bike (like on ride position). So if you put luggage rack, it will be "out from bike". Not in middle as on brompton (in the center of balance). And next important point - helix is more unstable when is folded and you want leave it stand. I have brompton with back rack with 4 wheels and it stand on it wery solid. I must say - this 2 bikes are totaly different and it is almost impossible compare them. From my experience - brompton is very functional bike with 40 years history and development. So there is almost every detail develop to funcionality. It is build for travel with public transport, for cycling urban roads in short distances with his 20inch wheels. You can very easy and fast fold und unfold it. Helix is developed for more classic ride with his 24inch wheels. Also ride position is more natural and very comfort. Folding and unfold is also fast, but not as fast as brompton. In folded position is little bigger, but is slim. It is easily rolling on his front big wheel (there is no small wheels - it is only fixed rubber rings for stand). Weight is simmilar. But to be honest - I prefer helix for his designe, ride charakteristics, bigger wheels... but still I can say, that brompton is more practical.

@@duritraveller Oh that makes sense. Maybe I should stick to my brompton. It’s just torture to ride on cobbled roads..

@@KokoroKompass if you nedd to use a folding bike daily for ride in the city and also part of your travel is with public transport, then I recommend brompton. Plus if you already have a brompton then there is nothing to deal with. Helix is also not joy to ride on cobbled roads :D

Thanks for the unboxing & pushing videos. Interesting comments on Helix Alfine slipping gears. Is your Helix the standard or light weight version?
If possible, could you do folded and unfolded comparisons - widths, heights, lengths? Big ask I know! Thanks.

Maybe your Helix bike is equipped with Alfine gear.
I've seen a lot of Helix bikes on RUclips,
but they were all Derailleur versions.
So I want more of your videos.
The Alfine Gear version of the Helix bike is so cool.

Yes, I have 11 speed Alfine. It is little heavier then standard gear version, but I buy it, because I supposed less maintanance and more friendly using. But sometimes the gears skip while pedalling. It is very sensitive to set up and it's not always reliable.

Meeehh Alfine is too heavy! Throw an ultralite garbaruk in there its better also you can customize the colors since the color choices on this bike is so boring.

Hi, thanks for the videos explaining the helix bike, they're really useful! I was wondering if you could tell us about your experience with the Alfine 11 hub, and if you found it reliable and how to tune it? I am deciding between the Alfine and derailleur version. Thanks :)

Hi, I made decission for order Alfine 11, because I expected almost zero maintanance, no dirt, user friendly and change gear when I standing (on traffic light or so) without pedaling. It is somehow works this way, but happens quite offen, that the gear skip to another. I was ask in bike servis and they told me, that Alfine 11 have in small space a lot components and this happend. On alfine 8 gear it works better. So if I will order Helix again, I will probably buy standard gear (derailleur). It is more then 1kg light and price is more friendly. But I can not say, that my Alfine 11 version is heavy and not usefull. I only have this small difficulties sometimes.
