    I use the website raverly to help me with organization. You can put your entire stash on there, take pictures of your yarn, and put where you have it stored. So whenever I need to see everything I own I go on there to look for colors because I have way too much

    This video showed up recommended, and it was really fun to watch. It's such a good feeling to go through and clean up yarn. I did that this year too. And I'm with you, I have NO patience when it comes to tangled yarn. Thankfully my spouse loves a challenge so that was his job in cleaning up the mess. :)

    loved this 😊 i would have kept the wrappers for the information and just roll it tight and stick it into the middle of the cakes so you always know your brand and hooksizes and so on.

    Is that a large yarn winder? I have a small one but think I could use a large one. Nice relaxing video, thanks!

    How do the different yarns hold up being in cakes for a while? I read a comment a while back that keeping yarn wound damages the yarn and I'm wondering how true that is or whether it applies to different materials??

    • @sundropsol
      @sundropsol  Год назад +1

      oh! yknow i’ve never heard that but that’s good to know! I mostly work with acrylic yarn and my winder doesn’t wind the cakes too too tight so the yarn has never looked damaged. but it could be a different case with other yarn 😭

    • @Soph216
      @Soph216 Год назад +2

      This is true! Typically, you only want to wind into cakes if you’re going to use it soon! Having it in a cake can pull the yarn too tight or flatten it. Also, a lot of yarn companies recommend double winding, meaning you wind it two times. I double wind my cakes to make sure they’re not too tight. And you can definitely see the difference in size after the second winding. This may be overkill, but personally, with all the time and money i spend on my fiber arts, I want it to be as nice as possible.

    I have been on the fence about getting a yarn winder for awhile. Are you able to pull the yarn from the middle of the cake to use it or do you just have the use the yarn from the outside? This will be my deciding factor 😂 (thank you for sharing, it’s made me want to organize my yarn now)

    • @sundropsol
      @sundropsol  Год назад +1

      yes that’s exactly why I love it!! I always pull from the center and it comes out more smoothly! although i’ve heard that if you pull the yarn from the outside, a yarn bowl is really helpful

    • @Chronicallyiconicgay
      @Chronicallyiconicgay Год назад

      @@sundropsol well I guess I’ll have to invest in one since finding the center of a store bought skein sucks lol. Thank you!!

    • @blueismylove3128
      @blueismylove3128 Год назад

      Cakes are usually center pulls. I use a broken hand mixer to wind or the broken part of a thick spoon handle to wind it by hand, but that takes FOREVER.
