The last time I went up the Arch was in the 90's during the flood and the water was almost all the way up the riverfront steps.
1973 - 76, my family lived in St. Louis. One fine Saturday my mother surprised me with an adventure on land, sea and air. First was a horse and carriage ride followed by a paddleboat trip up the Mississippi, and then a helicopter tour of downtown St. Louis. The helicopter ride, if I'm not mistaken, is still there; down by the riverbank.
Oh wow!
Yes it is still there
@@knotabuster Everyone should enjoy the helicopter tour. Let me ask you, is the revolving restaurant atop the hotel still in service? We used to eat our Thanksgiving dinners there.
should’ve checked out the city museum..
So sweet your Mama walks to the end of the driveway to wave goodbye to you guys! She's such a sweetheart! I got to see the arch in my 20s when I was on a road trip with my Dad. My Dad was a pilot, but doesn't like to go up in tall buildings or apparently tall arches. Does that make any sense? Nope, but that's how he was. He stayed on the ground while I went up in the arch. Glad I saw it then because I'm now claustrophobic after getting trapped in an elevator so I would be beyond freaking out in that tiny capsule! Love how the kids are scared and Nathan is saying "So how high do you think we are going". And to make them feel even better he says "We're going up 630 feet, that's tall as 2 football fields". LOL
She is the best! Haha Nathan and his comforting worlds 😂
@@LessJunkMoreJourney it was funny!
Camped across the river in E. St. Louis, level sites and very little noise. And just a short drive to the arch!
I leave a roll of Gorilla tape inside the tailer door and a little knife and always secure the sewer hose holder cap with a couple pieces of tape as a backup. Latches, bungees and magnets always fail at some point.
Thank you so much for bringing back memories. Blessings
That was so cute. JayJay saw dad holding Sissy's hand so he says to Mommy, "I will hold your hand." The look on his face was like "Do I need to worry about this?" Great scene. Thank you for sharing!
So glad you enjoyed!!
Another super cool vlog. Thanks for sharing loved it. ❤️🇬🇧
Awesome views thanks ❤
Our pleasure, thank you for watching.
One of my favorite things we did on our trip across America this spring. Such a beautiful national park
Awesome journey family. I enjoyed it very much. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching
I grew up in St. Louis and surrounding areas and still have family there. I actually worked at the Casino Queen back in 2007. It is a nice view and while there are many places in Missouri that are nice/safe, east St.louis Il and close proximity are defiantly not! I imagine you may have been told that prior or during your visit. We are getting ready to RV full time within the next 10-12 months. Thank you for the video!
I live a hour from St. Louis so we visit a lot. We've parked at that casino and taken the transit to the arch, Busch Stadium, etc. In fact we are doing that boat tour and arch this week.
Awesome, we hope you have fun. 😍
There's a storm moving in tomorrow 8/9/2023 watch your local weather .
My best high school friend lives just east of St Louis and I am visiting her as I watch this! I have done the arch twice. Once all alone in 2021 and once with our husbands.
A lot of people lives on the Ilinois side of Arch .
Everywhere is spreaded out . I live 20 minutes from st.louis on Illinois side .
Taking the highways , it's faster , but traffic could be an issue during the weekdays.
Very beautiful view! I went in 2010. Got my first parking ticket by the waterfront in front of the arch. I see they've changed all that now. Wouldn't mind going back.
Bucket list! Thanks again LJMJ!
Aww yah!
How awesome was that that they had a ride to the top of the arch and you could see your Rv. That’s so cool! Great video and hope you had a great weekend and have a great week and see you soon! Safe travels!
Thanks for watching!
Great video showing some of the reality of RV travel (stuff falling out of place), and the joys of travel (up the arch!).
Glad you enjoyed it, thank you for watching.
WoW! That is wonderful!
Thank you!
I haven’t RVd to the arch but years ago I took a Mississippi River boat cruise from Chattanooga to St Louis. We landed at the arch. It was awesome!! Felt for you and all the troubles you had. You didn’t sugar coat it at all!! Thanks for another great video! Kathi
That is awesome!
Wow, this series has made me add another to our bucket list... But to the top of that list, just awesome views...
That is great to hear. We hope you have some great adventures.
That was great!! Thanks!!!
Glad you liked it!
We have heard of this arch but was not aware you could go up in it. 😮 We started being snow birds two years ago. Three months living in our 24 ft class C is fun but I look forward to my bricks and mortar home.😜❤️ My husband and I say it would be a lot of work living in a RV full time. There is never a dull moment. Your children are living a wonderful life full of adventure. I would so be like your mom.😂❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much. 😀
So interesting to see people be tourists in a place where you live. We actually just went up in the Arch a couple of weeks ago. (We live in Illinois about 20 miles away.) Hadn’t been up there for many years, and had not seen the new museum, which really adds to the experience. And the domed building was probably the cathedral, not the capitol, (because St. Louis isn’t the capital.) Just FYI… And so happy that your daughter overcame her fears. My grandson did it. Granddaughter would not. Need to show her this!
Welcome to Missouri! My home state!
Years ago, like about 40, my family and I stopped in St Louis. We had been to Los Angeles and we're on our way home to West Virginia. The rv park we stayed at was downtown, a asphalt rectangle with a huge chain link fence. I really didn't feel comfortable there. We were there for several days for a conference my dad was attending. We really didn't have any trouble it just didn't feel safe. Where you all stayed looked much safer than where we stayed. Thank you for showing the cars to get to the top of the arch. It really is a beautiful view.
Family, Daddy, Hold My Hand........precious, and of course the Prayer! He Removes The Clouds!!!!!
The timing of this post is great!! The spousal unit & I will be staying nearby (Cahokia) in September as part of our Route 66 trip. Definitely want to take in the Arch NP & make use of our America the Beautiful pass. Thanks for providing all the info!!
Hope you have a great time!
We did the route 66 , May 2023, it was the best vacation , it' was so pretty. . Utah is a beautiful State.
The Arch is amazing !! Was there many years ago!! Y’all always have fun making great memories!! 😀😀😀😀
We had a great time!
very cool
Great job guys, love your family and so blessed by your ventures. Can’t wait to meet y’all, just had Stewart for the past three days installing lithium in our Airstream.
Awesome! He is amazing!
yup r v life we all have fun travel days from time to time enjoy safe travels
Thank you so much.
Sorry this week was stressful, ya'll always do such great videos.
Aww thanks so much!
Wow, that was a great trip , I felt so bad for your daughter you can tell she was so afraid but she has good old dad to hold hands she did a great job, those children are so lucky to have the parents that they have great job guys enjoy and be safe....❤❤❤❤😊
Thanks so much
Early in your video when your 5th wheel was really shaken and stirred just reminded me of just how much I LOVE MY CLASS A MOTORHOME!!!!!
Yes, I know there are pros and cons of everything but the Class A...... REALLY checks off a lot of good boxes !
Carry on........❤
What are the pros? Asking because we have a fifth wheel. Would like to know what some of the pros are.
I have one suggestion for the floors at the slide outs, battery powered leaf blower, also comes in handy if you're camping in an area that has cottonwood or other fuzz creating trees to blow the screens out. Of course if you use the windows.
So fun that you are in our area!
We had a great time!
So cool!! We visited the Arch in 2019, and stayed at a hotel near your campground. Finding parking near the Arch for our 12 passenger van was a challenge. AND the MS River was flooding so all that area near your boat dock was underwater. Spending the time and money to go to the top is worth it!!! Such a cool experience for us and for our 6 kids!
Oh wow!!
I saw it from the highway once. We stayed in a run-down (we did not know it before we reserved and it was dark when we got there) RV park across the river from St. Louis. We also had real "Fun" driving the 28' Fifth Wheel on the downtown St. Louis interstate interchange with all the brick buildings and ball park but with a twist - construction and only one lane. Was hard.
Yea, I feel your pain on the surprise spills when stopping. Of course, it happens to us part-timers, too - there is no favortism. 😅
Your videos make me miss travrling with our two daughters, now grown. ❤
Well, if you are going to camp in St. Louis, you guys had a good spot. The view of the Jefferson Expansion Memorial (Gateway Arch) was cool. I have been there many years ago with my parents before we were married. I remember the ride to the top in the little “capsule”.
So cool. We are doing a Route 66 trip and I will have to add this spot to our trip. Thanks for sharing.
We did the route 66 , this past May 2023 , it was my number one vacation , favorite .
I've been to the top of the Arch many times. The round tall building you can see by the Arch used to be the Clarion Hotel. I used to work there. It had a revolving restaurant on top that was 58 minutes to completely circle the city.
❤
Very cool
That's the restaurant I wanted to visit yearsssss ago. I don't know if it's open or not . Clarion Hotel
@debbiec6216 No, it is sitting there empty now .
I'm having dejavou watching this.
RV park at Casino Queen is awesome. Stayed there lots of times. Just cross the river from downtown St. Louis, which is a very cool city.
The best back up plan for my wife and me would be to go to the Budweiser farm south of time to see the Clydesdales. They have some at the brewey downtown but they have a lot more at the farm, at least they used to. It's probably a little late to change your plans now. Just a note for those thinking about going to the arch, check the weather forecast. If there is lightning in the area they make you leave the arch. Please don't ask how I found this out. Keep the good stuff coming guys.
Good point!
over in that area "on the hill" has some Awesome restaurants. Yes, weather permitted.
Tomorrow 8/9/2023 there's a strong storm moving in keep your eyes to the weather.
I'm so fortunate to be able to the the arch from my back deck. I hope you get to see some amazing attractions while you're here like the zoo, Forest Park, City Museum, and the Magic House just to name a few. Lived here in the city most my life and feel it is quite safe.
That is so cool! What a view you have.
I just went there to the arch this past spring
Way to go Hensley you are braver than me😊
Fun ❤☺️
The arch is one of our families favorite national parks to visit.
We loved it.
St. Louis is a “must” destination! So much to do and see. Metro is super cheap and convenient to Arch etc. 35 years and never felt unsafe or uncomfortable. Children’s discovery zone, Zoo is free, annnnnnnnd THE CARDS!
5th option take casino shuttle to tram to first stop across the river right at the park, we stayed there last year there last year great place to go with your family
I didn’t know they had a shuttle! That’s a great option though.
You guys need to go to starved Rock state park for lots of fun and hiking
Wow. My claustrophobia got triggered just be watching the video! LOL. Thanks for the heads up. That is something I've always wanted to see. I'll definitely have to mentally prepare for that experience though.
You can do it.
Yeah Pray Always Amen
I love where you are camping by the arches. Sad you lost your sewer hose. Yum Little Caesars. Oh know you Rv is un level. Good thing Walmart was close by. Hopefully it was close. I can’t believe that stuff fell after you checked it out before you left. Glad there was no damage. I heard the Arch was cool to see!
Thanks 👍, the Arch is very cool to see.
We loved staying at that campground, and never felt unsafe. We walked across the bridge, but the sun was out when we were there. I will say the boat tour was a little disappointing. Thanks for allowing us to relive our St. Louis video.
Glad you enjoyed!
@@LessJunkMoreJourney We lonely live 20 minutes from Rv park .
life is a journey.
My fear of heights is so bad I couldn’t even watch you all looking out of the windows in the arch.😮😮 Definitely something I want to see but I’ll keep my feet on the ground!😂
I love Mama's goodbyes!!! So I like the theory of traveling full time BUT I don't want to live in parking lots.
You don't have to stay in any place you don't want to. We wanted to stay here to be close to the Arch but everyone can pick their own journey. 😀
Y’all were right down the street from me! Haha
Guys, no snap pads?! 🤔😂. That view though! 🙌🏻
Live in STL. Would have loved to say hi😊. Love your channel and content.
Awesome! Thank you!
I’m all caught up now! Lol! 🖐️
Going to go watch video right now!
We are in Missouri and Illinois daily . You all must of came 40 to 24 to 57 to 64 to your Rv parking lot . Arch height 630 ft
Forest Park in St.Louis, BIGGER 1,326 acres than Central Park in New York City 843 acres .
We were 20 minutes from you . If you needed help , we would be glad to help.
Arch trivia; my uncle worked for the accounting firm that wrote the checks for the building of the arch, my uncle was the one who signed the checks. And yes I have seen the arch.
Awesome.
Repeat After Me.... "Life is Good." "Life is Good." "Life is Good." "Life is Good." And.... Life is Good. Serenity now. Amen.
Have you all filled a National Park Passport book yet? This is amazing how you guys live!
We haven’t, but we should!
Awesome ❤ Why are the videos just abruptly ending 😢 I always feel like I missed something 😊 Safe Travels ❤️🤍💙
We are trying something new 😀
In 2016 new truck and 5th wheel...maiden voyage. Two day run from Temple, TX to Table Rock Lake (Branson, MO). Midway through second day, stop to take a break and get cold drinks from the fridge. Notice that we neglected to lower the TV antenna leaving the OK state park, so tree took care of it for us..ugh. But that was just the warmup....stepped into the rear living area and something didn't look right. Upon closer inspection found that the 42" flat panel TV had jumped out of it's bracket and crashed to the floor...screen smashed. Got the drinks and headed down the road. The day turned into 12 hours on the road, heavy rain through the Ozarks and upon arrival at the COE campground...auto level would not work. Got it as level as we could and turned in for the night...after a little nightcap to take the edge off. We enjoyed the 10 day stay on Table Rock Lake...other problems arose with the rig. Toilet leaking. Some lights not working. I know, your thinking we should have taken a shake down trip close to home. We had done that prior to this trip with no issues. But as you know...bouncing down the interstate your home is going through earth tremors all day... needless to say at this time we do not own an RV. But we enjoy watching others live the life. Been following you guys since the beginning when Hensley was still in diapers...you have slugged through when most would have given up. Thanks for the memories and the road ahead...
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thanks so much for following for so long!!
In Utica illinois
I’ve been to and in the Arch. I’m from Missouri, but not there now. It wasn’t that nice when I went there. I still won’t go again. Lol
That was one REAL RV life video. We are not full timers but we did just do a trip to San Diego and back to NH taking a little over 7 weeks. Many times did we say "it's part of the journey", LOL. As we were nearing home, I said to my husband, " Honey we left on this journey as excited newlyweds and are returning home as old married people!" 🤣😂🤣 Gosh i just wanted to hug you guys in your stress. Thanks so much for showing viewers a real perspective AND sharing your faith and answered prayer too. You're not alone. 😘
Aww thanks so much!
Living in Illinois, it's almost a guarantee you're going to have spillage. Roads are the worst.
Our west roads aren't the best either :( Looks like they might be working on highway 255 ( by pass ) . Not sure if they will close the road down, like that did the other part of highway for almost a year. Or alot of construction .
Did you drive on 65 in KY? We got home from a trip and our back door was open! No one on the road tried to tell us! We were lucky the stairs fold in and stayed locked. They are repaving a large portion of 65 and we cannot wait for it to be finished. We seem to always travel on the worst part of it.
You mean 64? We were on some bumpy roads for sure.
Dangerous campground. Reviews say they hear gunshots
It’s in one of the most violent cities in America (east St. Louis Illinois). I have lived about 30 miles west of St. Louis my entire life and there are better campgrounds just west of St. Louis.
We had a good experience and felt safe. No issues during our stay.
St Louis is only 2 hours from where I am If I had known y’all were going to be up there I would’ve come up to meet y’all
Maybe next time! We would love that.
@@LessJunkMoreJourney I would also
Are the kids doing the Natl Park Junior Ranger program?
They do! They love it.
Pweez dun let Marissa shrink away!
You are so kind! We will make sure to go get some ice cream 🍦 😉
So how many stinky slinkies have you lost over the years? A friend of mine lost one and the next day had a local RV place weld a second carrier under his rig and modified both with cross pins because the issue was the cap coming off. He just drilled a pair of holes through the tube then used pieces of steel rod with a bend on top and a hole in the bottom to block the tube so it didn't matter if the cap came loose or not.
We have lost a couple. Hopefully we have a solution 😀
Great video, but I swear I've seen it before. Am I losing my mind? Somebody was telling me recently I needed to go up in the arch. No! No ! And more No! after seeing that little pod!
Why have all the recent videos been replays? Hope everything is okay with the family
You were on the same property as the basilica of St Louis, King of France, did you get to see it?
I think your self leveling system has gone bonkers. Manually level. All your jacks are down a lot. Raise them all and start over and manually level. No reason you need extra blocks. We don't have auto level but I've seen other's who said sometimes they have to self level as the auto level just kept raising one side or end and then raising the other. Do you have a lift kit on your axles? Safe travels.
I could’ve sent you some help had I known you were there.
Do you guys go to church while you are traveling? Just wondering how to incorporate that in the busyness of life when traveling.
We do. We visit churches or we watch our home church online as a family. We also go back to our home church for periods of a time.
You must have shared a lot of clips from this video on Instagram (right?) because I feel like I had already seen about half of it
Yes and we showed a couple clips in last weeks video about the sewer hose.
@@LessJunkMoreJourney thank goodness. I thought I was losing my mind for a min there 🤣 I have family near St Louis so I was glad to hear you had a good experience at that park. We hope to drive out there some day.
Did you get approval to fly the drone around the Arch?
We used stock footage that was legally obtained, we did not fly here.
Hello☺️Wow! Where is it located we would like to visit?
This is St Louis.
Why does it feel like I've seen this video before?
Seriously though, it seems like the first 10 minutes of the video I had already seen at some point? Am I imagining that or did I see a preview somewhere? Great video, you guys are an awesome family. This video made me want to go see the arch!!!
Wasn't one of your "under $20 gadgets" a reusable zip tie to secure your sewer hose?
Haha yeah but he forgot to put it on 😂. It doesn’t work if you forget it 🤷🏻♀️
How much do you guys earn from you tube?
Can I park a semi truck here?
nevah mind. Prob not
I’m not sure 🤔
Been there done it been up there dad mom my middle sister and me we wait hr under to go up and we were at the top right at the top I think I was 1980 to 1988 that we went but when we got back down it's was cloudy and it's starting to rain and we had to walk to the van down the street from it we were in the river we were coming back from dropping my brother who is now dead he shot himself back in 2017 or 2918 he was only 58? He was born in 1962 I was born in 1964 am 58 almost 59 this month on August 22 my mom was still living she die 2021 January 15 she was 98 Born in 1942 she did 12 years in the service first lieutenant army
Sorry for your loss.
When you have your little down days just tell yourself you could be punching a time clock and putting in 40+ hrs a week at work like most of us do. Just sayin.
Yes we like to stay positive and thankful and teach our kids to do the same.
Perfect spot to get robbed or shot 😂
How many have been robbed or shot in the campground we stayed at?
What happened to the sewer hose - how’d you lose it? And what happened to the inside of the fifth wheel? You usually have everything secured. Even though all the problems you encountered it must be nice to be back in your own home and have your own truck
It has just been a while and the roads were bumpy! More than usually. We got it under control now haha.
@@LessJunkMoreJourney Did you ever watch Marc and Trish video where Marc end up walking down the highway to get his hose ?
You all stay safe. Route 66 out West has bumpy roads , we just went on the route of 66 , May 2023 . I loved it .
: )
Hate to be a downer but they would need to be paying me 75 bucks a night to be looking at a noisy concrete jungle As i may as well be staying at my 7 acres of land that costs me 120 bucks a year Canadian for my property taxes I would much prefer State or provincial parks with lakes and waterfalls or harvest hosts ect
