- Low tide shelling in the 10,000 islands is a challenge, since you need to get to all these islands, but once you get there, you know the effort was worth it.
I had planned to go low tide shelling on this particular day for quite a few weeks, since the tide was going to be very negative, and it was hard to choose the perfect spot. I ended up visiting 2 different locations and today we'll explore the first one - Dickman's island.

You have truly taught me soooooo much about shells. I’m so proud of myself because when you would show a shell I’d name it off before you told us what it was 🤗 oh I sooooo need one of those hinged spiny jewel boxes in my life!!!! It was gorgeous!!!!!! I dream to have just some of the type of shells you find!!!! All I’ve ever found when we go to Flagler beach Fl are clam shells, I have tons and tons of common clam shells 😫 not even a broken sand dollars!!! My cousins went to Tybee island and brought me back some sand dollars so right now these are my prized possessions of shells 💞
When you finally make it here you'll have to go to Marco Island. I seem to always find the mermaid money there. I remember when my husband and I found our first intact sand dollar. We treasured it! To think I can go and find several in one day is still a little mind blowing. The beaches down here are amazing and I can't wait for you to see them yourself!

Wow, that wasn't low tide, it was NO tide! Awesome haul. That lightning whelk, the lace murex, the true tulip, that alphabet cone! Totally envious!
It was a "Super" low tide day and I was going to take advantage as much as I could! Next week is Kice and few tips about kayaking in really high wind....hope you have a great week!
At the Jersey Shore, we don’t have snow a boy do we have cold! It was 5°F in my yard yesterday at 6 AM. This is the time of year we’re going to Florida it’s just so incredibly wonderful. To go from the colder the snow down to a beach with warm water and shells everywhere. I have not been to the West Coast of Florida in over 25 years. I still miss it so much. Now that my son is grown I think I’ll go spend a week down there looking for shells. Thank you for making these videos they make my day Kathy
Which exit? We used to go to Island Beach State Park and boy I never found anything good on the beaches. Down here is a totally different story. If you come in the summer, the gulf water is WARM! It blew my mind. I hope you do decide to come because it's really just an absolutely wonderful experience.
I went to Florida on the West Coast about 30 years ago to Sanibel Island best week of my life. There are sharks teeth on the beach between Belmar in Avon on the Belmar side the big giant surf clams I use those shells to line my flowerbeds. They’re not sure we are anything but they’re good for calcium. Someday I’m going to return down to the West Coast of Florida. Oh I was exit 98 Belmar Avon Asbury Park. As Berry Park speech is now are spectacular there is not a piece of trash anywhere you’re not allowed to smoke on them they have cleaned it up so much. And there’s a whole bunch of crafters not crafters artisans there’s a glass blower there was a potter I don’t know if it’s still there. The housing is a fortune. When I worked there 20 to 23 years ago you could buy one of those giant Victorians for $100,000 with zero interest now they’re going for two 3 million each. Take care of yourself

Well I thought last week's video was fantastic but this week has surpassed it. I loved the true tulip, that first big lightening whelk, that amazing lace murex that was nearly perfect...and even a gorgeous example of my favorite shell, the auger! oh those nicker nuts, sea beans make the cutest beads for earrings and necklaces and can be dried and painted on : )
I thought they might be sea pearls or sea beans and when I looked them up - nickernuts! I still think sea pearls sound just as lovely. 🤗

Beautiful shells all around! Love that little lace murex towards the end with that pink tip; so many sand dollars that were in great shape; who doesn't love a good horse conch; and those spiny (read as spiky) jewel boxes... and let's not forget that perfect alphabet cone! An awesome trip, for sure.

Some days are better than others, but there's no such thing as a bad day at the beach!
I also love all kind of shells, I have few from goldbeach in Bulgaria ( black sea). East beach ..Australia, Costa Brava..Lanzarote...Northsea....and when I don't find and see in market..I buy from there...but from Australia I did not buy for 60 $ even I love it so much, it looks like a pearl so shiny, but german don't aloved...bad guys( maybe jealous...😡😃

I acquired the gum ball machine while I was still living in NJ, so of course I filled it with shells collected here in Florida. Then the whole thing make the move down here. It's been around and I just love it too!

Oh FOMS is real and I was on a shell-high when I was out there. It was SO fun! I'll be missing the shells in a couple of months so when the shelling is good I'm going to take advantage!

Quite the collection today! I love the littles...every time you reach down for a shell I find myself pausing the video so I can search the pile for littles. Lol! It's like a shelling where's Waldo and I love it!

Oh Sharmon! That alphabet cone is awesome!!! I have a chain hanging from my review mirror that I drilled a whole in my favorite shells from Sanibel and an alphabet just like that is on it. I never get tired of them. My favorites next to scallops. So many beautiful shells on a perfect day. You are a lucky lucky lady to live there and enjoy that beauty and those shells every day. I was woken up to a tornado warning, so it's good to know that there's a great warning system in place. It was 7 miles from my place, so we were safe but I was looking forward to see what would be on the beach this morning. Not what I expected but it was so fun!

Two more weeks! I’ll be on the beach myself! Doing one tour so far with Treasure Seekers. Might also book a kayak tour! Haven’t decided. My tide app isn’t showing “low/negative low” tides while I’ll be there 😔 but nonetheless I can’t wait to fill my shell bags!
Next best thing to low tides is an incoming tide and next best thing is just being at the beach! I didn't pay attention to tides for a long time and it never stopped me from finding something pretty!

Finally visiting Sanibel island ! Loved it But didn’t get to do a lot of shelling due to short timing. All the beaches have so many shells ! Hopefully will book a shell tour when I visit next time. As always enjoyed your video

We were awoken to the sound of a tornado alert - that will get you up right quick! The tornado was a few miles away so we were okay. Good to know the alert system works great! You stay cozy with all this nutty weather!

Loved this video! Hickory Island and Keewaydin Island are the farthest south I have been shelling. Found pink tellin shells on Hickory and general shells on Keewaydin, but we had the island mostly to ourselves so picking was great. I did get lucky last year on Turtle Beach where I usually go, and I found a 4 inch triton, intact and perfect. Have you found any of those down in your area?
A triton? Amazing! Not only have I never found one, I've never even found pieces. Great find! I have not been up to Turtle Beach but I really do hope in the future I'll be able to do more traveling 🤗

I’m enjoying your videos very much! I love watching you identity the different types of shells. It’s been too long since I’ve been shelling. I miss it SO much! My Dad & I could walk the beach for hours looking for sharks teeth! (Watching you pass them up drives me a little crazy! 🤪 lol!) You really do find the perfect spots! Going after the big storms pass through is awesome! I live in Sarasota, right off 75. Do you ever go out with a small group?
I don't find the sharks teeth down here so I suspect anything black and triangular is not a shark tooth - that being said I found whole bunch of them at Casperson Beach in Venice.
I was doing tours for a little while, then I got swamped with work (it's a good thing) so I've suspended doing tours for the time being. I do hope to offer them again in the future ☺️

Was impressed with the limpet. On one of my trips I was at a sand bar point covered with littles on North Captiva. I was messing with my phone camera trying to take close ups to turn into desktop wallpaper. When I got home and was setting them up as wallpaper, the shot had 5 or 6 limpets. I was so busy taking photos, I totally missed them! Darn!!!
NO! That would drive me insane! I see some of the shells I miss sometimes when I'm editing. You might not have got the shells but I bet the photo you got is awesome!

The sandbar in my tiny kayak is probably a 15 minute paddle. I did it today in a proper kayak and I think it took less than that. 🤗 Just make sure the weather is good for kayaking! I had to learn the hard way that the wind matters!

Love the lightning/whelk! Woke up to a tornado alarm and then sat and listed for a half hour to make sure we weren't going to get hit. Scary stuff! We're fine and I went to the beach today to see what goodies were left. Can't wait to share in a few weeks!
