For their packs, absolutely. Their boots and shoes are quite good. I fear that they are all about crossfit now that their prices are likely to go up. Crossfit fools will pay anything for stuff.
I'm not so keen on the more modern rectangular lumps with Molle all over them but the more traditional shaped ones are fantastic. They seem to be mostly the German mountain/Alice type styles or the British patrol/Bergen ones. Both are good.
I’ve a large Alice on a frame with shelf. I used a couple straps to pull the weight in tight. Might be heavy compared to modern kit but pretty sure it’s almost indestructible.
Me and the lads went to a WW1 mountain fortress in Kenya. Went across old ass trails, saw trenches and outposts. Carried tents, water, food etc. Packs were 15-20 kilo each. Came back sunburnt and in peak shape. Would highly reccomend.
Did it all throughout my undergrad running down public busees, marching uphill to my campus, marching across my campus to classrooms, and ruck running afterwards at the gym. To this very day it's just an everyday routine to ruck-hike/ruck-march minimally 5 miles a day.
I've been doing 2 miles (almost) every morning on regular roads and either a 1 mile hill climb or 4 mile hike on the weekends, no backpack. Maybe I'll start adding a backpack. I've been wanting to try out camping on my own, and after watching this video, maybe this would be a good excuse to test my distance with 30+ pounds on my back. Thanks for uploading.
Former Anger Qualified. Now I ruck with a torn up laptop backpack with 35 pounds for 45 minutes at a 16 min/mil, walking on mulch, to help with those Anger issues.
NG 11B/C. Benning for basic and AIT. Basic in 1988 and AIT in 1989. They DID NOT teach us how to ruck/road march. Put stuff in your ruck, put it on your back, and walk. So, you don't know... it makes sense to load weight low. Cummerbund uncomfortable? Don't use it. Watched a FNG Acadamy video a couple of years ago. He says load weight high and close to your back. Alternate between cummerbund tight on the top of your hips and shoulder straps not very tight at all. This way the load is carried by your pelvis. When that gets old, release the cummerbund and let it hang on your shoulders until that gets old. Then back up high with the cummerbund tight. Back and forth. Back and forth. Really wish they would have told us that. Greg
I went to Korea in 2005, rucked 25 miles, and all I got was a lousy belt buckle. Lol. Just playing. I'm damned proud of my Manchu Mile buckle. Delta 2/9, Keep Up The Fire, Hooah! Seriously though, for those who don't know, rucking ain't no joke. It'll break you off, something hard. So many health benefits that come with it, plus the sheer sense of accomplishment, too. Like the video stated, that rush of endorphins. I always found it to be better than running. And honestly, even your running will improve, since getting used to carrying weight (even if you don't incorporate jogging/running into a ruck) makes you feel light as a feather, on any run without a pack. I'm still getting over a back injury, but looking forward to getting out there again, even though I've put on a few pounds. Hell, especially since I put on a few pounds!
What has happed to our military?? 25 milers were very common back in the day. But buyer beware, you WILL tear your knees and back up. Civilian "rucking" and 03 and 11B rucking or "humping" as called it are misery training. Most of the time you have over half your body weight on your back, with a crew serve on your neck.
No shut up boomer. You are completely full of shit and please know that the military way back in your day wasn’t very smart in regards to improving physical performance
@@TheSwishhouse I really don't know to be honest. I was given about five seconds of tips in boot camp, then off we went lol. I started with the basic load, and then when I hit the fleet and attended some more advanced schools, the load I had to carry was well over 100 lbs. Did I get my man card doing that? Yep! Did it break me down over the years? YEP! You need to strengthen your joints as WELL as your muscles. Little did we know. Theses were the days before the crossfit roid fad and you would see skinny Marines in a weapons company humping 50 cals and with no worries. Hope this helps!
“You think you’re tough? Can you carry a 40 pound backpack 10, 20 miles?” No I got a shorter leg which means the rest of my body is clapped plus my joints are already clapped with out rucking 😂😂
It's so odd seeing uniformed personnel *NOT* carrying weapons in some of the videos shown. Doesn't look like marketing video of random civilians doing a "fake road march" Very odd. Do non-combat arms go on ruck marches w/o their weapons? Is that even a thing? And @7:15 couldn't agree more. My LBE and mountain rucks were imprinted to may body. It also helps if you cinch up and down the ruck as you roadmarch as it seems to engage different muscles. I don't know if that's true, but it sure made it more bearable. Also, shuffling and walking and jogging seems to do the same thing. Use up different muscles. Again, don't know if it's true or placebo effect, but it certainly helped me.
This is all true, cinching down or loosening different straps does load the weight differently from hips to your shoulders, likewise different pacing shifts between glute or quad fatigue. Put all those things together and you'll find yourself getting into your body's rhythm for rucking non stop.
I am curious about this kind of training. Planning to start of with a backpack with a 24 lb dumbbell and a water bottle. I am 100% civilian but i love to challenge my self.
I love rucking, especially when its for good cause events like the Refuge Ruckus for Kaleb House to help in the fight to rescue and restore child survivors of PDFile trafficking. Even better when you can ruck with other people and blast some good tunes. 😁👍
If i was younger id go the SAPPER route, then try out for c.a.g. and if i dont i will still have earned the sapper tab, cause then i would have renlisted and go become a SEABEE to just be a lame carpenter or operate a bulldozer and i would be happy.
I like rucking, but the problem is that I cannot find a rucksack on my measurements. Am 2.03 m tall so my back is big, and pretty much every military style rucksack that I could afford to buy, was not good enough to fit this problem of mine. Even if I adjusted the straps, the kidneys belt was on the high of my stomach, so I didn't had any support for my middle back. Do you know any kind of military rucksacks big enough for me? Thanks in advance!!!!
Love to do all that shit but I'm fucking falling apart 59 nature knee Replacements need an implant on the both big toes partially blind in one eye don't get no sleep cuz I'm on flight or flight because of three brain aneurysms
well if I have the 6-7k dollars to spend on the pack and all the stuff that made up the 75-100lbs needed then in a couple months maybe. I've done 40lbs before.
Its profoundly disturbing the amount of people who took out their phones, recorded themselves having a break down about an election, took the time to edit the footage, and still thought they should upload it after they were done. What in the SSRI, mental illness, microplastic hell has caused this behavior to be seen as acceptable in so much of our youth?
Also Twinkies, Chicken nuggets and Capn Crunch is good fer you. Ruck marching is absolutely terrible for your joints, back etc. Talk to any former Ranger, SF, SEAL etc. Their back is SCREWED and it "isn't service related". This is TERRIBLE advice REGARDLESS of how you "carry the load" etc etc.
Nope. This one is wrong. You might be the best special forces bad ass but you’re not an infantry soldier. You should have had an 11b explain what and why we did what we did. I disagree with your video. Don’t get a ranger or a special ops soldier to fix this. Get an enlisted man to explain what we went through for years. Rucking is a joke to us.

GORUCK is outrageously expensive. Just go to an army surplus and get a real ruck sack for a fraction of the cost.
For their packs, absolutely. Their boots and shoes are quite good.

Yep, medium ALICE always gets the job done nicely

Remember to wear PT belt when rucking, it increases strength and endurance.
Agreed 👍
Do pushups
59 years old: latest 12 mile ruck 09/19/24. Time: 2:40; 35lbs dry.

This is my shit! I love rucking! Do it twice a week, one incline up a mountain, the other is for distance.
Calf gains, posture, overall strength 🚀 📈
can you do 50miles with an unknown time limit in any weather?
@@dominic6634 Man my goal is to hike the entire Appalachian Trail
i LOVE it. i do 8km with 15kg or 6km with 25kg every morning. Amazing
Rucking is helpful for me as an autistic dude. My favorite sport. Highly encourage anyone medically cleared to ruck to get out there and do it!
Just make sure you ruck properly or, just like any other sport, you risk injury.

Love seeing the keystone at 1:30 !
Well delivered as always, GORUCK should be available around the world for those who are interested. Your extra commendation shall also come in handy

Are there studies on rucking? I feel like up until 50 pounds its training, over 50 pounds is always bad for the body regardless of the distance.

This exercise is good substitute to running, because it' doesn't put a much pressure like speed running with combat training or gym

I’ve participated in a couple of GORUCK events, including Bragg in 2021. They are well run.
I ruck every day walking, being 40lb over weight lol
Battle march of British Royal Marines
Commando is also praise for a long time.
proper loading, placement, and fit or you will ruin your back... L4-S1 rupture....
If you walk with a backpac, its just a hike bros. Running with one is another story
Our loudspeaker pack was 65 pounds without personal equipment.
Alice pack
I was thinking about walking with weights but I was also wondering is it worth to put weight and walk or it's can be negative and cause injuries
My unit had to do an 8k qualifying ruck every quarter
