      That kid was kinda taking it too serious considering MILES gear is garbage, so the likelihood that the opfor didn't even know they got hit is pretty high. But the opfor saying "we don't even wanna be here" is some soft ass POG shit. I'd get smoked into oblivion by my squad leader if I was ever caught whining like that.

    Next you should check our the Cold Weather Combat Survival school in Alaska and JPMRC-Alaska at the Northern Warfare Center. Much slower paced - larger area and less hospitable weather - but I think it'd be a good follow up.
    Or if you want to stick around the jungle climate, there's also JRTC at Tiger Land, Fort Polk, Louisiana. I think that one is a bigger scale than JPMRC-Hawaii.

    I'm surprised public relations even cleared this, but this is currently by far the most accurate representation of a day in the life of the average Joe. Keep these videos coming. By the looks of how many y'all have made so far, the military must be seeing some kind of benefit from it.
    Side note: That 1SG is a real one! It's crazy how different the military can be depending on where you're at. I've never had leadership like him before. Happy to see his troops have amazing leadership to look up to. Shout out to that drone SSG, the OPFOR LT, and the OPFOR CPT as well. Unfortunately, I've only ever had people like that full bird and the two star. I understand the logic and reasoning behind it, but those kinds of leaders just make people get out.

      Well, yea.
      Simple math puts the money at about $180/hr doing 24/7 hours for 14 days just for the Brigade of roughly 5,000 troops.
      Considering the armor fuel and maintenance (vehicles series like MRAP, up-armored HMMWV, etc.), drones, arty sims, radio equipment, blanks for all sorts of platforms (240, 249, 4, etc.), aircraft maintenance and fuel, food (MREs aren't cheap), water (fuel to transpo water), MILES, etc.
      Then there's pay based on rank and marital status, any training leading up to the event. I mean, are we including AIT, troop schools (like NCO PME, O courses), etc.?
      Depending on what you're counting, 300 mil is either a crazy amount, about right or maybe a drop in the bucket.
      My guess is the 15 mil is the "big five" or food, water, fuel/POL, ammo and comms (likely not counted). 15 mil across the Brigade gets you about $9.00/hr per troop (for 24hr per day, 14 days). Or, $26/hr for 8 hours a day. Yea, pay alone wouldn't even be covered given Colonel to the rare E-1 (which makes a minimum of about $12.60/hr, 8 hour work week but they're working more than 8 lol).
      TL:DR;
      Yea, it's probably closer to 300 than 15, but I see why the answer was given the way it was.

    Too many Americans think the Army’s job is just to defend and occupy. The Army’s primary job and the core of its mission during every war in American history is and always has been to attack, close with, and destroy the enemy in ground combat. I appreciate SPC Morales' efforts to take the training seriously, but what he will come to learn when he picks up stripes is that often the goal of these exercises is not to see "who won" but to see how the evaluated unit responds to worst case scenarios. He and his squad did their job taking out that squad of OPFOR, but for the sake of training, OPFOR might tell you to go down so the rest of the platoon can respond and get their training in.

  • @reddevilparatrooper
    @reddevilparatrooper 24 дня назад +9

    Force or force engagements using MILES gear system has improved simulated combat training since it was introduced in the late 1970s. My experience was in my first unit in Germany in the late 80s. This forced unit commanders down to the small unit leaders to think and use their tactics wisely to avoid casualties as if on a real combat scenario. Individual soldiers start to think for themselves as taking cover, moving by using obstacles and terrain to their advantage to avoid getting hit emphasizing better combat drills and tactics. The more you sweat in training, the less you bleed in combat. This type of training pays off in real combat with close to real world outcomes. Grenada, Panama, and Desert Storm were short conflicts but it had the least casualties but effective combat leadership under any worst case scenarios. Somalia had the same stressful situation too. Iraq and Afghanistan where US Forces fought the longest since Vietnam didn't have the same casualties with two different theatres of combat and terrain. Small unit leadership was key role in combat. This is not Call of Duty using a TV screen and a controller, this is putting on real equipment with food, water, and blank ammunition to go on a simulated combat training to see if all your training was worth it. It's not LARPING because you might not know it in the future that you will go into combat with the training you did.

      Most Americans think the Army just occupies ground the Marines take. Of course, that’s not the job of Army infantry and combat arms, which fight offensively and close with and kill the enemy on the ground. But for some reason this narrative that the Army only defends and doesn’t attack is very prevalent. I like docs like this that show what the Army is actually training for.
