yeah, the opening riff is definitely "2 Minutes To Midnight" :D if you properly study this band's discography, you'll find out, they are far more influential than you thought.....
Budgie had more intelligence, sense of humor, originality. clever names and titles of their songs, and interesting arrangements in their songs and catchy riffs than overrated buttallica could ever hope to conjure up.
This was the kind of music coming out of the garages in Topanga Canyon, California, before anybody knew there was any other kind of music! And did we get in a lot of trouble in those days! Warped ur brain forever...
Yes Yes..........Budgie.............Go Go....twist....turn...rock on! Best band I've ever seen. Woodville Halls, My ears are still ringing, but I'd do it again given the chance......Go Go Budgie................
@DoomMetalSludge Wish there were more dudes like you on the scene, givin things a bit of thought, i.e. remember the era that budgie derived from. Listen to the sound man this is a THREE PIECE, Magic.

While Iron Maiden took the main riff for this for their song "2 Minutes to Midnight", I'm sure Budgie was probably listening to the song "Rock and Roll" by Led Zeppelin, which is based on one of the most popular structures in rock and roll, the 12 bar blues progression (in A). This just proves that all good music is derived from the blues.
lol everyone has stolen/used/invented that riff. Raven, Accept (twice), Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Merciful Fate, Riot. Its just a classic, and natural riff. Like saying playing blues songs is copying led zeppelin.
zeppelin was sued number of times for copyrights a number of times - by older blues artists - and zeppelin lost those judgements. Is that what you mean?

Worship Budgie. Heavy rock with strong R&B, soul influence. ❤❤❤
One of the BEST classic rockbands!!! Showed the way for younger generations later ;)
! The most underrated band ever
These guys are amazing.
We need a resurgence of this kind of music.
This song has a great groove.
Maiden, Metallica, Judas Priest and all the rest went to school, studying Budgie(!) - and so on and so forth... The rest, in actuality, is history.
Budgie had more intelligence, sense of humor, originality. clever names and titles of their songs, and interesting arrangements in their songs and catchy riffs than overrated buttallica could ever hope to conjure up.
Aleluia! Budgie needs to be Recognized
LIFE HAS NO MEANING WITHOUT BUDGIE! thanks for uploading their songs,in India we cant get their CDs.God bless u!
Do you know how hard it is to create music this good with 3 dudes.s

One of the finest live bands, ever!!!
Totally pure NWOBHM , It reminds me the Tygers Of Pan Tang with Deverill´s best times !
If only all their albums were on Spotify. I hardly listen to music on RUclips but I love Budgie
Great voice! It actually reminds me of Paul Rodgers, Dusty Hill and a few more.
14 years later i reach out ( remember Covid?) Yes to Hill and Rodgers
Yeah he sounds great here, more powerful than on first 2 albums

@Winterstick549 dont know about albums, but its on the 1980 ep if swallowed do not induce vomiting.
It's from the 1980 EP "If Swallowed Do Not Induce Vomiting"
looking for the tabulature for napolian bona
@killerb720 imitation is the sincerest form of flattery
It's a standard blues rock progression of course loads of other things are gonna sound similar. It's still a great song by a great band
It's like they ate ACDC for breakfast and then washed it down with Bad Co puked it out and did their own thing...love it lol
Mother’s finest was the first with the song Fire, Budgie uses that intro for wildfire and Iron Maiden later on2 minutes for midnight!
It is Burke Shelley singing?
Yes
He sounds great and powerful here
@th1rdey3 I got it off that EP If Swallowed Do Not Induce Vomiting.
Nice job dude! I like how you know their nee's and DOB's. Do they have any hot single sisters or cousins?
budgie roooooooool big time
Teraz widze (tzn słysze) że Venom zerżnął stąd riff do swojego tytułowgo utworu z debiutanckiego krążka. Nawiasem uwielbiam Venom i Budgie
@killerb720 I was thinking exactly the same thing!
@benbews There are millions of riffs that sound like that.
@NinjaJedi11 Yeap true dude "Accept : Flash Rockin Man" (1982) a great example .-)
I might be a bit late, but why does this video's description state Shelley's birthday as april 10th, 1947? I thought he was born in 1950.
They WERE massive
😃 That’s what I said 😃
I ja sam rekao 🎵
Ah taj ritam 🎸
Lol the cat ^^
@killerb720 hey things are not that simple, 2 minutes to midnight is a song with a vey different groove and it´s also a great song
All Hail Budgie.......
Impeckable...
Now I know where Flash Rock'n Man, and 2 Minutes to midnight Riffs came from.
@hermygagala Yes indeed it is
maiden learned from budgie
Didn't Budgie release their first album in 1971? Because in the description it says being played as early as 1973. I think that is wrong?
i saw them live in 1970
I hate to sound stupid but is this Burke Shelley singing?
Yes
you mean the beginning riff of 2 Minutes to Midnight by Iron Maiden sounds like Budgie's classic Wildfire? (:
@jingsken the Song "The Ripper" Is by Judas Priest Right?
One of dave mustaine's favorite bands
a very underated band with crackin riffs, they should have been massive, but what happened ?
Bad management

the beginning riff sounds like 2 minutes to midnight from iron maiden

Weird. I woulda put money on this being Montrose when it came up randomly on Pandora. 🤷♂️
I'd say more like 2 minutes to midnight!
IRON MAIDEN PAY UP COPYRIGHT!!!!!
+RaFael Salgado All 80s bands who used this riff must pay up!
Accepts Flash Rockin Man too! Pay the rights bloodsucking bands!!
It's actually a law that all old school metal bands must use this riff at least once lol
Reminds me of Wheels of Steel
Yep.. This might be Budgie's shittiest song and yet... I still dig it.
I kinda get what you mean but I love this shit. This riff's been done a million times, but this is an early version.
You're right! Tygers totally rip Budgie off!
Similar sound:
Konkwista 88 - 1981
2 Minutes to Midnight ?????
I would'nt say that. In my opinion, its quite different.
FOXY BINGOOOOOO!!!!!!
