Maybe you could archive a similar result by putting the Mixture into the freezer and mixing it after each 10-20 minutes or you could put ice cubes and salt in a bowl and using this as a cooling source.

After heating the milk and sugar until the sugar is completely dissolved, let it cool off(you could freeze it for an hour or two with a piece of plastic wrap placed on top to prevent a skin forming). Guar gum also helps in preventing icing forming in your ice cream.

You dont need ice cream maker, jut blend and freezer. I use Ninja blender. Soak cashews as well warm water to soften up.
