I've had a banshee and worked on it a bunch and one of the first things you should do is get a tors remove kit and it will help you out a lot and make it run and idle better
you dont need to remove anything to check the stator, if its bad then you'll have to pull the fly wheel to replace it , but you can check it by following the wires out of the crankcase to it , and measure the resistances between them, just look it up super simple to do .
You should use Armor all tire foam on the plastics. Thats what i have used for years and it has kept my 04 Honda look like new. Man you have an awesome quad. My Banshee was doing the same thing and it was the stater.
This one sat on cl for about a year, for $1500. I was gonna buy it. But it was gone. I ended up driving to st. Louis, mo. For one. (I live 45min west of you) lol. But I'm glad to see someone bought it. These quads are getting hard to come by. If you decide to sell it, look me up.
those wires are for the tors system, which sometimes causes bikes to not start or want to run, there is also a few other piece to it that you need to remove to avoid issues. I like the purple, I have the same exact year and color bike that I ride/ upgraded a bit, that was why I clicked this video when I saw it on recommended
hit up kevin at south texas banshee , he sells a whole harness with the TORS delete which is probably your problem, save yourself some time and money in the long run and just buy a fresh harness from him!
CDI could be an issue I’d suggest going through EBay and RM Stator has the whole stator kit has CDI, Ignition Coil, Stator, and flywheel you might even be able to find the one with the fly wheel puller if not you can get one for like $10 off Rocky Mountain. The stator kit though you have to make sure is for your year and you can find it with the 100watt stator or 200watt and Ebay is the same price if you go through RM Stator so if you’re not sure you found the right one you can look on there website and find it just make sure it is for your year because 87 to I believe 94 plug ins were different. Also don’t put oil on the cylinders banshees are a dry system the only oil in them go from the clutch to stator side the engine is dry. Also if you end up doing aftermarket pipes you’ll need to change your carb jetting.

I have a 94 built and totally gone thru . Owned it for 20yrs . 94 is a dark purple with purple rims , 95 is lighter purple with yellow rims . Only years that the colors were that close .!
Check the wiring harness to see if there are any breaks in the wires from the handle bar switch or the key because if there is it will ground the system out and not give you spark. And ps the plugs on top of the motor are part of the TOR’s system that comes on the bike from the factory and everyone deletes it
If you had it all suped up with chrome and new plastics and just fully reconditioned you could get four but in the state that it's in running 1500 maybe at most 2000
2vintage, I think you need to take out the spark plugs, than hook one into the wire, kick it over while watching the plug, if you see a spark then at least you can say: 1) Yes has spark or 2) OK no spark. Then you know what direction to look next. Stator's go bad on these all the time. If it isn't spark, meaning both sides spark when kicked over, it's either a fuel issue or compression issue.
Try heating the cdi with a heat gun add little heat not to much but sometimes when they get old and sit they get moisture in them so it should dry it out and work temporary.
You say you can get $1,500 for a banshee that's not running and it's in pretty rough shape how do you come up with these numbers? I can find them running & in decent shape all day long for $1500.oo-$2000.oo.
i owend a 2004 banshee. got it brand new. rode in glamis in california all the time. you will love this thing once its running 100%. she will scoot! p.s. mine blew up from racing on the highway too much

I got 4 years xp doing drag engine for ppl I race with at the sand dunes. 15 years of riding too. I don’t do bottom ends, just cylinders but I’ve rebuilt a couple 2 stroke engines top and bottom before. I hate it cause it’s a mess. If you haven’t got spark still let me know.
You really don't need to take it apart to test the stator. There should be a connection from the stator that plugs into the harness. You can check it from there. I would also check your spark plug caps.
Those 2 silver connectors on top of the head are not for the CDI. They are for the TORS, which you should buy a tors delete kit for it cause it just sucks on banshees, and sometimes won't run right with it, It's easy to do, South Texas Banshee has videos on his channel on how to do all of that. Fun to work on for sure.
Sweet banshee but had to correct you on 1 part, where you said gotta pull the stator cover off and take a flywheel puller to the flywheel to get to the stator. The stator is the flywheel on small engines like that.
I got my cover off without pulling all that stuff I tipped it on the side so no draining oil or anything but you probably all ready have it running by now ..lol
tim wilkinson probably from ripping on pavement. I ride on pavement a lot going between places (it’s not illegal if you don’t get caught) and it eats the front tires up

I say this because whether you want to keep it maintained as stock or completely modify it with a lot of aftermarket upgrades, you'll be spending thousands either way. Example: dirt tires or sand tires will run you $350-$400. If you decide on omf beadlock rims it will be $1000+/depending. Some guys put $10grande or better into their bikes. And it's easy to do when Elka Stage5 shocks all around with rear linkage and laeger A-arms will run you about $4000. Smartcarbs $1200, change it into a 4mil is $2000. And then there's always the saying... Build it, Break it. FIx it. Get used to it. It is what it is. Because you have to pay if you wanna play.
look at the carburetor and clean that out or replace an new one, then change out the gas by pumping it out,the pump out the old oil and put new ones in there
Ive been watching alot of your videos, I like what you guys are doing. I just bought a 89 ysr with the double round headlights, all the turn signals and mirrors need installed and wired but this bike has a blaster 250 engine swap and it has some balls it's super dangerous, just fucked my knee up on it pretty bad but I thought it would be a fun project to install all the street legalizing components and retrieve the title , I bought it from a shop, It is not stolen it's yellow, what you think? And btw, it's super mint and only paid 800 bucks, when I had my accident it just produced a minor scratch or 2 I took all the damage.

5k to 6k is drag racing banshee. 3.500 is stock. 4K is very nice not stock. 4,500 engine work. That’s basically if it’s running perfect and is in perfect condition. Price speaks lmao but that’s a pretty good listing on pricing for the types. I have seen tho 10 to 15k banshees and ain’t no way in hell you’ll see me having big enough balls to ride them lmao.
in pennsylvania banshees arent cheap , i had a 94 and i installed a team motofast 2 into one exhaust ( sounded like a euro gp bike ) and a single keihin carb , was too nasty for tight trails , thing flew .
The wires that aren't hooked up at the cylindere,that's not where the cdi goes. That's where the factory tors hook up. Cdi is on the back of the frame. You shouldn't have a banshee if you don't know what's up. That bike is also a 95 model. That's the year that had purple & yellow plastics. Factory pipes are 3 piece pipes.
Dude I had a 97 and a 95 the 95 was the same color originally. Look up Laker custom plastics they make a really nice one piece front and the fit is perfect. Oh and get a zip tie put it around the frame by the kickstarter... #banshee rattle

IMO it's really hard to beat a Yahmaha Banshee or a Honda 250R something to love about that vintage 2 Stroke power

Check the magnet on the stator thats what mine was as mine fell of and i glued it back on the bracket and it fired straight up.

9:05 Hey just to let you know, I know I have a 05 Raptor 660R, but when I had a bad Stator I unplugged the Rectifier. After that she ran! Good LUCK!!!

You have no spark until you short both of those grey tors plugs and won't run at all until you complete the circuit on both grey plugs

You need to strip the bike and rebuild it they are pretty easy to work on. Whatever you do don't change the plastics or wheel color that's a classic
