Oh man.... I actually met Kris way back in 1978. I was an 18 year old boot Marine ( PFC ), and was at the airport in Lafayette, LA., and waiting to catch a flight to Houston, and then on to San Diego. I saw him sitting about 7 seats away from me, we made eye contact, and nodded to each other. After about 2 or 3 minutes, I got up the courage to approach him, and introduce myself. He was really friendly, and invited me to sit next to him. We had a really nice conversation for about 45 minutes or so, and then my flight was announced. I got up, shook hands, and headed to the boarding ramp. All these years later, and that still is a very special memory for me.... I don't know why, but this sad news kind of hits me personally....
@billymulgreavey6621 Kris used to be a pilot for a company called Petroleum Helicopters International, or more commonly PHI. They fly crews out to the drilling platforms in the Gulf of Mexico. I didn't find out until a couple of days ago that Kris had strong ties to Lafayette...

Rest in peace, Kris. The greatest songwriter. I met Kris in March 2014. His parting words to me was: "I like your spirit". I told Kris that i was a fan for decades and thanked him for his amazing songs and music.
RIP Kris Kristofferson. He was a great actor and musician. He will forever be remembered for movies like Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore, A Star is Born (1976), Semi-Tough, Songwriter, Blade trilogy, and Tim Burton’s Planet of the Apes. We will miss him dearly.

Wow, I just re-watched 1977's "Semi-Tough" where he co-starred with Burt Reynolds and the beautiful Jill Clayburgh. Kristofferson was one of the few musicians who was completely at home in front of the movie cameras and so was an excellent actor as well. So sad to hear of his passing. 😢
