    Do you think the guys are taking more thirds as a way of keeping them back so they are less likely to poach the fifth?

      That’s one strategy that I heard some pros talked about before, I.e keeping the guy back so he is less of a threat, for example less poaching. I do think it’s a double edged sword in that if the guy is up at the kitchen, yes he has more reach and mobility, it opens up more opportunities for poaching, but the guy can only be so aggressive with his positioning before he becomes easily punishable (hit behind him). Keeping the girl back has the advantage of allowing the team at the kitchen break the girl’s defense more easily (less mobility and reach) than having the guy at the back. It’s a trade off between much many more poaches can the guy successfully do instead of the girl vs how much easier it is to break the girl’s defense instead of the guy’s defense at the back. Also how quickly can the girl/guy move up to the kitchen from the back if they do hit a very good drop. This is just my opinion. What do you think?

      you know it's interesting, because right now I'm trying to experiment with different techniques to help me become more alert and ready at the kitchen. my problem before was that I was not moving enough, so far I've found using the ignatowich bounce (over moving) seems to force me to be more ready (less lazy). i'm also trying the normal split step that most people do, the challenge that I have with this is that getting the exact timing is more difficult, perhaps I just need more practice. What do you do?
