Was going to buy the new Tucson Ultimate mild hybrid but now I really like the Kona N. Fantastic video, just makes me want one . Only thing I would miss is some of the toys the Tucson has.
Driver/passenger: Literally identical seats, except for the higher seating position due to the nature being. You know, VN's seat is known for its bumped up seat position, so Kona N's seat position wasn't all that bad especially compared to VN!
You know, I have N light bucket seats on my VN, and it uses identical base frame as that of a regular seat(which is the same on Kona N as well). If you measure the seating position(height), there's a marginal difference bw a regular to N light bucket seats - you can find this in my early VN videos.
I contracted elantra N yesterday.. I did not know i will purchase 2 brand new hyundai cars in my life lol 1st one G70 3.3t 3 years ago and elantra N which I contracted yesterday I slightly tuned the G70 3.3 and it is really satisfying till now and no doubt elantra N will be better in terms of sport driving.. both great cars and can't wait my elantra N though
What a great choice you made there my friend! Same here, never thought I'd get a Hyundai in my life living in the NA for 15 years, because simply, there so many other great cars to get for the same $. But, I have Veloster N now and will be getting IONIQ 6, so I feel ya!
@@CarSceneKorea Wow Ioniq 6.. Isn't it the sport type coup electric car? I might sell my g70 and go for it as well.. One N car and electric car seems the best combination at this point Wonderful!
I'm really starting to like the Kona N over the Veloster N... only about 100lbs more, but more rear headroom and legroom, better ngs function, better dash, better looking exterior in certain areas, can be a sleeper, wont attract attention unless you want to, and 4 doors
Can the Kona N and Veloster N run on regular fuel 87-89 octane or does it require premium higher octane fuel? Some competitors like VW GTI and the Golf R will need premium fuel to run properly.
It does require premium unleaded, but there are tons of ppl that run on a regular gas, and honestly, if it is just a yes/no question, so many are running their cars w/o problem thus far here in Korea
Octane regulations here in the US aren't the same as those in Korea as far as what they can sell at a pump and call it. As a general rule if you want to not have any concerns with a KDM turbo engine in the States, run the highest octane you can. I had 2 Genesis Coupes and now a Stinger GT. Every one recommended the highest octane. You *could* run regular but why if you're losing out on the cars full potential?
@@ClubZlut For sure. I run highest octane on all my cars, including Veloster N. I wouldn't risk it and honestly $ saved isn't all that big. Just was answering a Yes/No question.
I have a 2020 Veloster N. I will run on anything from 87 up. It simply pulls timing for the lower octanes. No harm and really the "performance loss" is pretty small. You will not notice anything for daily driving. I have a 2011 Genesis Coupe 2.0T that I run 87 octane in and it has over 133k miles and runs likes a top. I generally put 93 octane in at Costco. It is not worth it at regular gas station. Here in Pennsylvania the normal gas brands charge 60 to 80 cents more per gallon between 87 and 93. The mileage and performance difference is small. If you go on the forums people will state if you put regular in it the car will explode and take out seven square blocks. No such luck!
Amazing car and despite being on a newer platform nad having more goodies its still around 1-2k cheaper than a i30N Facelift. How do you think the Kona N stacks up to the Facelift i30N or Facelift VN (in terms of handling, body roll, etc)?
There's been some track reviews with Kona N to Elantra N (Fastest N in the family thus far), and Kona N stood up against EN very well. Given this still is an SUV, overall performance is absolutely amazing, there definitely is more roll given this is an SUV, yet the car somehow maneuvers like a beefy sedan, yet still fast on corners and doesn't give me that odd feeling of car struggling. All in all, this is truly an N. Korea doesn't get i30N, so can't give you the personal feedback on that, but comparing it to Veloster N, Kona N also gives that crisp feeling around turns with short wheelbase as well. However, Kona N is still an SUV, so the hatchback cars like VN, i30N are more "fun," but Kona N will just do about the same, and the tradeoff you get is huge - the sacrifice you make on the "feeling" is rewarded by the car being an SUV by a LOT.
How would you rate the road noise while city driving? Is the Kona N well insolated? Not talking about the exhaust noise. I'm asking about the actual road noise while driving. One of the things I didn't like about the Veloster was how much road noise there was. Thanks.
The car is fairly quite under 70 mph especially in normal. I traded a stinger gt2 awd with over 400 hp and tq. I do miss all the amenities but the Kona N is much better car if you really enjoy driving slow or fast. I do not think the car is too stiff either in N. But i live outside atl with relatively smooth roads. I also have an x3m comp which some wrongfully think is too stiff. I like planted cars that follow the road and do not wallo. I find i love my kona n as much as one of the best cars you can buy and its half the price!
@@CarSceneKorea how do you feel about the seats vs the ones in the 22 VN or EN? Also, do you regret switching over to 6mt? or do you feel that while the DCT is amazing, the 6MT continues to be a tiny bit more fun?
"Different" is what I'd say. It really is amazing considering this is a CUV, and really doesn't feel like one, but not quite the feeling that VN delivers. I don't think there is a single manufacturer that overcame the car's nature being yet 🤔
If you don't "need" an SUV N, VN would be more fun to drive given the weight, center of gravity, wheelbase, overhang and lastly, it'd be very competitive in terms of prices if you get a used VN!
Care to elaborate on OPF? I know it stands for Otto particle filter, same as Petrol Particulate Filter (PPF), but these N's pass all emission/noise related regulations around the globe, so that wouldn't be much of a concern, I hope.
@@CarSceneKorea in germany the Ns need the opf (otto particel filter). @@rizeTTV Ahhh...I haven't heard N's in Germany myself, but judging by the vids online, I don't think they're much different than ones in Korea. Comparing VN DCT here, don't feel the super crazy difference, nearly feels the same (they should). However, the e-LSD feels quite different, more aggressive and strong!
Cost and weight. More power would be needed out of the motor to push the Kona to the same level in an AWD config. That adds cost. AWD adds a lot of cost as well. Not to mention an additional 100-200 pounds. All of that would add up to a $40-$42k+ car.
