    There will never be a car like this again. Have owned mine for over 3 months and just love it. It keeps me on my toes and find myself looking out for potholes because of the stiffer suspension and expensive tires, but that makes me more vigilant and I enjoy the challenge! I love the ground clearance and ride height. It has plenty of power for FWD. It’s a perfect DD. I’ve had a 2008 SI, 2014 WRX, Fiesta ST, Mustang Mach 1, and THIS is the most fun car I’ve ever owned.

    I'm also a metro Detroit driver and I had a Civic Si on order for months (with markup) but I test drove a Kona N yesterday and it impressed me so much I drove home with it same day. There wasn't even a markup and I only paid $1k over what I would've paid for the Si! Like you said, I don't miss the manual too much because this car finds so many other ways to keep you engaged and the transmission is so responsive! It's such a coincidence that you uploaded this video the day after I bought my Kona N and hearing you praise the car so much makes me even happier with my purchase!

    I just got a Kona N because of this video. Thanks, Topher

  • @racesuey
    @racesuey 2 года назад +114

    Kona N has shortest Wheelbase among all N cars while being based on facelifted i30N/Veloster N platform instead of being in Elantra N platform - this means best turn-in and rotation among all N cars. If you driven all three, you can see that car philosophy kinda changed with Elantra N (more focus in medium speed sweeping corner than short corner because that's wayyy faster in track and a lot stable) but as thopher mentions this car (and cars based on i30N/Veloster N) turns in and rotate a lot better (especially off throttle fwd oversteer) because they used WRC style short damper stroke in the rear so that people can throw the car in corner which I prefer for road. Also Veloster N has last gen turbo turbine hence the less power but that is not the case for FL i30N and Kona N so you are not losing much on power.
    Also I do agree with Topher on DCT, both of my cars are manual in US, E91 and Evora, but DCT is so superior for price point and manual is so average... I feel like you get more out of DCT because DCT is so good.
    Lastly, I agree that big missed opportunity is missing adaptive crusie, which is actually a selling point over Elantra N in Korea. I would have bought this car as Daily in US if they had Adaptive Cruise like Korea.... WHY HYUNDAI WHY

I've done those mods to mine, and having had a good amount of performance cars previously including AWD sedans making ~560hp, and I honestly think the Kona N in its current state is the most fun out of anything and provides the most satisfying overall driver's experience.
