Lokum is one of my favorite sweets, especially rose flavor! They look like little gems. They are not well known here in the US but my city now has a Turkish Delight shop with many flavors.
@@TFT I live outside the Midwestern city of St Louis Missouri. Not far from Chicago. We have a large Middle Eastern/Arabic population. They also sell many types of baklawa too!!
I've never made lokum before and followed your video - it turned out beautifully! When my arm recovers from so much stirring, I am going to make another batch. This was so much easier to follow than the written recipes, especially to see how it should look at each stage!
My God and I paid $27 or $17 I think for a small box of smaller pieces I ordered from Amazon 🤦🏼♀️ now I know how to make it. Thank you so much for sharing your recipe with us 🙏 ❤
Thankyou for showing us how to make Lokum. It is one of my favourite sweets. Looking forward to my roses blooming so I can make rose water and use the petals.
8:31 My favorite sweet, I love Turkish delight since I was a little girl! Thank you for sharing this wonderful recipe and I shall surely try and save this recipe. God Bless you Aysenur, you give us such great recipes and ideas. Greetings from Malta 🇲🇹😋😋😋👏👏👏🇲🇹❤️
Thank you for this. I have been looking for a trustworthy lokum recipe for a long time. The rose flavoured ones are my favourite. I would buy them, but can't get any anywhere nearby.
Asalamoualaikoum sister.I have tried your lokums yesterday...they turned out amazaingly delicious and beautiful.I also did your baklava from scratch, my family was impressed.Jazakillah khair for sharing this recipe.May Allah bless you. With love from Mauritius
Thank you so much for this recipe with specific measurements and temperatures! I have never successfully made this it always goes wrong, i will try one more time with this recipe ❤
Greetings from Washington state, Aysenar! I made your lokum recipe. It turned out great. Like you said, it’s a little softer than the ones you buy but we liked the texture. I substituted 2 cups of tart cherry juice for the water in the starch stage. Other than that I followed your recipe exactly and had great results! I just made the one flavor, added chopped nuts to the pot of lokum before pouring into an 8x11 glassware. Looking forward to trying other flavors with fresh juices. Love your videos! My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our 3 week road trip through Türkiye this past April. I think Türkiye cast a spell on me as I’m now obsessed with all things Turkish😊esp food!
Hello dear! I am glad to hear that you tried and liked the result. I am sure it must look and taste wonderful with cherry juice. Yes in some candy shops they intentionally make it soft and I like that way as I said. You must have collected nice memories. on your road trip here. All the best!
Looks amazing 😍 definitely gonna give these a try - I love lokum and always buy some to take home with me when travelling in Türkiye 🇹🇷 they are more fresh and the variety of flavours is bigger than my home country Denmark.
I can't tell you how happy I am that you finally made these ❤️ My first and only attempt with lokum was something like 10 years ago and they came out too sweet, and too strong in rose flavour. I can't wait to make these for my family during Christmas. Can I use rose jam? I can't find a proper way to use it and my jar has been sitting in my pantry for months!
This looks great,Aseynour ! I wonder if I could make them with tangerine or orange juice. I wish a Happy New Year with health and joy for you and your family.
Mashallah, thanks for sharing. I saw that in the TV series Suleiman Sultan the Magnificent, they eat that a lot. Sister how as color? What the difference.?
Does the wheat starch make it more chewy? I tried it with corn starch and it comes out too liquid and soft.. but I prefer the bouncy and chewy lokum ☺️ and I don’t want to add gelatine … can you tell me what is the secret to make it bouncy? Thanks
In theory, corn starch contains no gluten. Wheat starch on the other hand can still have (varying amounts of) gluten in it. I haven't tried this, so I'm just guessing: but what if you add a bit of wheat gluten to your corn starch? Or use wheat starch if you can get it.
It’s a white powder to help condition dough or sweets ( makes it soft). It is in baking powder. 1teaspoon baking powder= 3/4 teaspoon cream of tartar + 1 teaspoon baking soda.

What type of starch do you use? I am wondering if that is what makes the difference. Starch can be made from different plants (e.g. wheat, corn, potatoes). Wheat starch still may contain traces of gluten and maybe that is what makes it a bit more chewy?
Lokum is one of my favorite sweets, especially rose flavor! They look like little gems. They are not well known here in the US but my city now has a Turkish Delight shop with many flavors.
Thats nice, which city is it? Yes I think as you have a lot of candy shops they should definitely add Turkish delights along other choices :)
