So happy to see this video. Around 12.15 I got to see the Diaolou of my ancestors and also very happy to see the old street in Guanlan restored. When I was there it was still not and the street was closed off. It's beautiful now. I know there are some of the clan houses nominated to be restored around the old town as cultural sites. Not sure if they have been restored yet. How I wish we could see old pictures of those places back then in all their colors and beautiful ornaments. My father told me how his (grand)father loved to take pictures with his new toy and made a lot of them, sadly not much remained..surely lost in all the turmoil that followed. Thank you for capturing some history of the Hakka's

Wow, I didn't expect a descendant of the owner of the Diaolou would watch this video. Glad it gave you some updating information and footage of Guanlan.

@@yanyangoaroundinchina Very blessed to find your channel and very grateful for your hard work, it was my first time ever being there for just one day. After 60 yrs starting to puzzle things togehter, trying to help the young ones in the family to understand where their roots all came from.

Great content, Yanyan. Xie xie 🙏 My granpa (mother side) once sold everything in the house and ready to return to the Mainland during the anti Chinese political issue. Too bad he missed the ship that was sent by China & Taiwan. He's surname also 陈 Chén, but I'm not so sure is this the clan you talk about in this video (Google misleading translation sometimes 😅). In Hokkian dialect this clan called Tan. Hakka dialect called them Chin.

陈 is a very popular surname in China. The Hakka Weilong House in my previous video (大田世居) also belongs to a clan with surname 陈. Although that Chen clan is also a Hakka clan, they are not related to the Chen clan in this video. Unless you know for sure your grandpa is from the 松原厦 陈振能 clan, you can't just figure out from the surname alone. There are a lot of Chen clans out there.

Yes I do pay attention to music specially the heritage documentary.
For me, it's like going to a banquet dinner enjoying a glass of good wine.
Just a suggestion, Chinese classical music such as 黄梅调 may be a good Idea in some cases.
Once again thank you for your hard work 🙏

@mhow4967 I tried Chinese classical music in my early videos but received copyright claims and I had to remove the videos. So now I only use music RUclips provides for the Creators which wouldn't get me into this issue. But there's almost no Chinese-style music in the selection. This bothers me a lot.
