So funny, I was just thinking about late season swarms and contemplating the idea of taking down traps. Thank you for the timely information. Great video. Great camera work. Much appreciated.
Thank you for the video. If there's anyone near Grand Rapids. Or South of there that catches an extra swarm I. Would love to come and take it off your hands. I was hoping to get into beekeeping this year but have not been able to catch a swarm. So I would love to take even a late season swarm.
Congratulations 🍾🎊🎈 🐝 Been a good year for many catching swarms Keep it up. My first season I went into Winter with 3 colonies Thank you for the comment
I caught a swarm in one of my hive, but seem to be a very small swarm.. they are working on 2 frames for the last 2 weeks do not appear to be growing. Is there something I should be looking for? I try giving them patties but don’t seem to like em
@@jamiekush-le6qw My apologies I don’t know what the time stamps in comments mean. My guess would be it was a virgin queen. They can take weeks to get up and rolling and the colony does seem to slow down waiting on her Pollen likely isn’t the issue. Feed sugar syrup 1/1 until they stop taking it If you see an egg then leave them for two weeks and keep feeding if they are still taking it What is their behavior like? Is it business as usual or milling around at the entrance and not very productive What is their mood like?
@@jamiekush-le6qw That is a good sign. I will post a time line on the community page for mating a queen You will see it can push out many weeks Any drawn comb frames will help them
Caught 2 swarms last week, with queens costing $35 to $50, it's worth the effort.
Do you use the catches to requeen?
@@fishingforbees- requeen when needed, and try to build new hives or boost weak hives, we always need more bees.....

Very cool. Swarms can be very helpful in maintaining a productive apiary
Nice to have help in reserve for when problems arise
