Where can I get information on the data-collection policy? What data is collected, how is it used and how long is it stored? Can it be paused or turned off?
Love how you have to pay an additional monthly fee to get any of this to work! Way to make something we've all been using for free a paid service! I'm so glad the new revenue stream is going to the Chevy employees and not the C-suite and shareholders!
You haven't been using anything for free. You are literally selling your data to these companies. Google isn't free. However, gm is including eight years of basic connectivity to run this service in the car.
It’s sucks no CarPlay yes. But I prefer google maps. And if they let me install Spotify I have no problem with the car having no CarPlay. For 35k and a 7500 tax credit I think this is a potential car I would look into buying. Message me if you guys are doing sponsorships for the car! I would love to do one!❤️ excited for the LT model to come out!
Hi , on playstore there are video apps like youtube or so? I am not saying that I would be driving while watching a video , but on non drive mode can it do it?
Thank you for reaching out. Currently, RUclips is not directly integrated within Google Business Suite for vehicles. However, Google Business Suite offers a range of tools for managing your business and communications. If you have any specific needs or if you'd like further assistance, kindly send us an email at socialmedia@gm.com with the subject headline "ATTN: FaixWoof/ Chevrolet/ RUclips".
Great question, Isaac. Depending on how your vehicle is equipped, audio features (listening to AM/FM radio or streaming from your paired device), Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay®, voice control using your connected phone’s compatible voice assistant, customizing your settings and certain features of the in-vehicle trailering app would be available without a subscription.
When equipped, Google built-in offers access to Google Play with apps built for your vehicle, Keith. Functionality may vary and depend on the specific app in use. For more information, please visit: www.onstar.com/services/google-built-in. If our team can assist with any other questions or concerns, you can always reach us with an email at socialmedia@gm.com.
@@Chevrolet ok but do apps I'm the car connect to apps on my phone? My audiobook app keeps track of where I am. If I listen in the car for an hour, when I go to listen at home later will my bookmark have advanced by that hour? And why do I even have to ask about this car's ability to interact with my phone when Android Auto already exists and works?
Apps in your car should connect to the apps in your phone if you login with the same account information, Keith. The progress made on the audiobook app, within the in-vehicle apps, will reflect over in your phone as long as the account that is used is the same as the one on your phone. As mentioned, functionality may vary and depend on the specific apps you use. If you have any further questions or concerns, please email socialmedia@gm.com with the subject headline "ATTN: Keith Eagle Chevrolet RUclips" to get in touch with our customer care team.
@@Chevrolet turns out that the answer to my question is no, because even though my audiobook app works fine with Android Auto, it's not available to download with my car. So it looks like I'll be listening over Bluetooth like it's 2012
I'm not clear on what the subscription unlocks? Is it a data plan? If so, can I just have the car use my phone's data plan? Is it for updates to the OS? This is making me want to avoid the Equinox EV.
Thanks for reaching out, Dan. If you’d like to get in contact with someone from our customer care team, please reach out to socialmedia@gm.com with the subject headline "ATTN: Dan Heuser Chevrolet RUclips. From there, an advisor would be more than happy to assist you further.
Carplay and Android auto were amazing innovations and we really are going backwards with this. There's no guarantee these companies will provide security updates for the decades these cars will be on the road. This is just a disaster waiting to happen.
I own a traverse and equinox with car play. I was interested in equinox EV until I learned there is no CarPlay. If GM continues down this path, I will be moving to Ford or other vehicles.
Your anger is misplaced, you need to talk to Apple about this. GM rightfully did not want Apple to collect and store user data for its customers and Apple flatly refused. Moreover, Apple would not even give GM access to the user data it was collecting and storing. I’m an Apple user as well, but that crosses a line and I applaud GM for kicking them out.
I pay for Internet at our home. I pay for Internet on our phones. GM is sorely sorely mistaken if they think I'm going to pay for Internet in my car. You guys have done screwed up. Which is too bad because I really like the Equinox EV. We love our Volt also. I understand GM is including 8 years of basic connectivity but that means that cost is built into the cost of the vehicle. Which I would be paying for....I do wonder how much Google is paying GM for this? Maybe the cost isnt baked into the vehicle cost?
So we may better understand how we can be of assistance, please send us an email with additional insight into your inquiry and a subject headline: "ATTN: [name or @]/Chevrolet/RUclips." We will keep an eye out for your next message.
You guys absolutely suck for taking away Carplay. You could've at least given us an option between the two like Apple did with the real Android Auto. My sales guy DID NOT tell me it didn't have Carplay until AFTER I SIGNED. I'm VERY PISSED about it and lowkey regret my decisions.
The new infotainment experience will be an evolution of the Google built-in system recently launched on select GM vehicles but without Apple CarPlay or Android Auto capability. Future vehicles will also benefit from GM’s Ultifi software platform, allowing for more features and updates to be added over time, along with other improvements to the user experience. If you have concerns about your current vehicle, please reach out to your selling dealership directly. They will be in the best position to assist you with this.
Do you have to have an On Star account with a data plan in order to use the Google Built in or can you use your phone as a hot spot and connect to it?
The car comes with 8 years of connectivity
Where can I get information on the data-collection policy? What data is collected, how is it used and how long is it stored? Can it be paused or turned off?
How much internal drive space does the infotainment system have? 32gb? 64? 128? Etc.. thanks.
So you’ve rebuilt CarPlay/AndroidAuto, instead of just giving everybody what they wanted (CarPlay and Android auto)

Not true. The Equinox EV (& Blazer EV) receive 8 years connectivity free of charge for 8 years.
