Do you also live in the same town? I live in the US now but was born and raised in the Philippines. Being practical and thrifty are two important factors in surviving the Philippines. Living out in the country gives you more bang for your buck. Most Filipinos are kind, caring, courteus and educated. They would even treat you like family once you have earned their trust. I hope you find happiness living there.

Mum used to get there early, and we had a fridge at home. Over the course of 2 years there, we weren't ill once.

I've been together with a Filipina for 25 years, married in 20 of them. I've watched a ton of grumpy RUclips videos about Philippines -- all kind of warning how bad it is here. That they all cheat you and wanting you money.
But here, thanks the Lord, a charming still realistic video. Thanks, Tim K ☺! I totally agree: Philippines is a fantastic place to live if you are en laid-back adventurer, and not too stupid. But that does neither work in my home country -- Norway 😁

He isn't living on that budget. His wife owns her house, her cars, etc... And he didn't mention health care at all. I was in hospital. India Tacloban for 2 days. My bill was 36,000. Close to $800. I honestly feel if you dont have $1,800 to $2.000 per month, you will get in trouble. I earn $2,350 and own our home there free and clear. And we barely made it. And my wife is very thrifty. We are in usa for now. She is a nurse and we are saving money for a much better home there, and putting kids thru nursing school and medical school...aka our retirement. lol For me, its ideal to live in both places. Here until it snows, then there until it warms up here.

I don't have to have electricity or running water. I lived completely off grid here in the U.S., no electricity, no running water, had to bring water from the creek, and run it through a filter. Grow my own vegetables and fruit. Also, I only want to live in the provinces. No city living for me.

We have plans to build another home near Davao City. i lived there full time for 4 years but have since moved back to the states with my Filipina wife of 11 years (now an American) and our 2 sons. i love his set up and reminds me of how we have ours. i love what we have in the Philippines and plan to do 50-50% between here in the states and there once we get our franchise up and running back in the states. i love seeing others doing well in the Philippines and sharing our love for it! Always enjoy your videos! It just came to my mind to share that in my case and personal experience, though not religious, being a practitioner of Buddhism allows for sooooo much enjoyment in life on the bare minimum budget...by choice, not force. In other words, no fast/junk food, no alcohol, no drugs, no smoke (treating the body as "Gods temple") tends to equal plenty of money to do whatever you desire, wherever you live be it here in Wisconsin or there in Philippines. To top it off, love making is so much better, health excels, appreciation of nature and humankind abounds, living in the moment become easy, being aware is clear, there's lots more money, thoughtfulness, clear headedness and the like. Anyway, when there is a will, there is a way and cutting the junk often leads to enjoying a life few ever will doing so on less, even when you have more. All The Best from Wisconsin! Todd

I've seen a lot of budget videos, and budgets vary wildly. Tim is on the high end & this guy is on the low end. As mentioned, he has everything paid for. I'm not there yet, but planning to have everything paid for before I arrive for good. Even with everything paid for, I can see my budget being on the high end. I watch a few vloggers that appear to just exist, and that's great if that's what they want. I can't just exist. Maybe I'll change when I get older

    Love seeing these.
Ill point Scotty to this vid so he can see first hand why never to buy a GoPro 😂 but seriously its the most frustrating thing ever to be in the middle of something exciting or get home and find the damn thing didnt record or wont turn on, DJI Osmo Action's for me from now on only I think.
Well done Mark cheers for showing us your life in sunny Samar, id love to hear some commentary on Waray girls and how they are a bit different to other Filipina's, the whole hard headed, stubborn thing would have been good to know about before I got there and may help other hapless travelers in "them there parts".

I primarily use it for the microphone which is good and the ability to go back and forth from selfie to forward looking. BUT. I always have my iphone 14 pro max as a backup as the last few scenes show. It did take 15 minutes of continuous filming in hot heat before it failed.

Need a big amount of cash to buy a house and lot first. Around 60 grand to 100 grand. The bigger the house the bigger electric bill. Electric is expensive. 14k a month for a decent house. His huge house has got to be minimum 5-10k if he doesn’t use aircon at all.

Great post. I can relate to Mark I have lived here (Mindanao) about 10 year,s way up in the mountains and it's truly a laid back life. It does have it's down fall for me and like Mark it's the food or may I say the quality of food. I just can't bring myself to eating meat from the open market with all the flies on it. Plus the freshness of let's' say fish. I too married a lady with property so we build a house and it's nice plus a farm. Matter of fact I'm the only American living in this village.

If you have a house and bills you dont pay for every month sure.. but 200 a month is not enough.. you need at least 1500-2000 to live comfortably in the Ph.

If you are from the West and want comfortable living outside big citys $1000-1500. If you want to comfortable living for example Manila $1500-2000. Live like a king in Manila $2500-3000. You can get by on much less.

Hello Tim and family. Lets say that 650 euros its not a lot in Slovenija! As far I understand 800 euros per month its still preety good for a pensioner to live. Current situation. In my opinion. For a simple person worker to live in Slovenija - 1500 euros per month. Have a beautiful day in the Philipines. Bye. Rudi.
