F1 22 Mike's Driving Academy | Nightmare at Spa! | Luke Drives With No Assists

- Опубликовано: 8 сен 2024
- Luke takes the wheel as Charles Leclerc for 22 intense laps around Belgium's Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps. Mike offers tactical and driving wisdom as Luke races with ABS, traction control and automatic gears all switched off. Can he sweat his way to rebuilding Ferrari's 2022 title challenge? Fate, and Fernando Alonso, have other ideas.

Sainz having technical issues, Leclerc spinning and a random car failure. This really is the full Ferrari experience.
This was a brilliant video - always love seeing the car dads in their element. You'll get them next time Luke.
All according to the Great Ferrari Master🅱lan
I am far too invested in this series. My wife is wondering why I'm yelling at the computer. GO LUKE!
I know. Before, I was never interested in cars, now…well I’m still not interested in cars, but for some reason I look forward to this series. Boggles the mind, quite frankly.
Feel so bad for Luke but the Leclerc "noooo" was everything 😂
I need to comment just how drenched in sweat Luke got by the end. Better than most cardio I've done
It gets your heart rate UP, especially online
It’d be so cool to have a video with both of you racing as a team, Luke’s perspective on Xtra and Mike’s on Xbox
Oh man that would be SO awesome. Please do it!
This is an awesome idea!
Mike playing this game: cold, calculated, and precise (probably)
Mike playing hitman : haha gun go brrrr
I don't know how F1 vids perform compared to others, but I love them and hope they continue for a long time. Good thing Mike and Luke seem to love them too.
And they say games aren't realistic, doesn't get more real than Ferrari finding ways how to lose a race they are leading. This is really fun, love F1 so it's great to see OX doing videos about it.
"in your own time Gasly!" Snaps Luke, channelling the spirit of Andy
So, with the addition of an academy, will we get Mike in a Stealth Academy?
Oh would love that ! Especially if Andy has to instruct him through stealth games 😈
Didn't Ellen try training Mike in stealth in a video?
Sounds good. I'd also want to see Andy in a chaos academy
@@NotKyleChicago Not sure due to there being literally hundreds of great videos but since it’s Mike we can imagine how it went if she did try to teach him to be stealthy
Mike Stealth Academy, but it's Mike teaching stealth..
Mike I'm in my 50's and I grew up watching F1 and listening to Murray Walker and so having your voice in the other ear during the race is perfect, your just picking up where Mr Walker left off.
This happened to me during a race, but I realized too late that I hadn't set the flashbacks to unlimited. I couldn't see because of Mike's view, but it's possible there were limited flashbacks and you ran out.
This was so impressive to watch! I'm still so scared to turn off most of those assists!
man that sucks for Luke, but you guys definitely need to more of these videos. love watching them
Mike being proud of Luke is everything, I know absolutely nothing about F1 but I really enjoyed this nonetheless. So wholesome to see them having fun together.
Though it was unlucky at the end, I guess we can all appreciate that Luke has come so far that he's actually sponsored by thrustmaster which is a huge w
“Heartbreak for Westaway!” - this was such a Ferrari moment that Carlos must be fearing being replaced by Luke.
"Sing a lullaby while playing Doom"-Luke has become really invested in those F1 races. And Mike is constantly smiling😊
The playlist for this race is 48 minutes of F-Zero Mute City before abruptly switching to Don't dream it's over
whoa, more OXboxtra content today? and racing! I thought it was your birthday, not mine 😄
Happy birthday!
As someone who regularly plays a lot of more simulator based racing games, I'm super impressed with how much Luke has improved. I feel like he's probably improved at an even faster rate than I have.
Now, what I'd love to see is a Show of the Weekend where Mike takes the gang out to Brands Hatch and takes everyone for ride alongs in his race car.
Edit: I finally watched the video to the end. Man, that was heartbreaking. Luke totally would have made podium if the game didn't glitch out like that. He definitely handled it way better than most video game RUclipsrs.
I wonder if it was a glitch or if the game meant there to be a catastrophic failure like that. I'm all for the realistic simulator being as realistic as possible, but it's a still a video game. They don't have to go that hard with the realism that close to the end of race like that. This vid and the other F1 22 vid they've done has me very interested in the game. I'm considering GT7 as well, but I think I might enjoy F1 more. My main concern is if the game will still feel good playing with the DualSense controller and not a wheel setup since I don't have the money or room for that sort of thing. Others have said that GT7 is still great with the controller, but I wonder how that applies for this game.
How appropriate for the endcard to recommend "tragedies that you couldn't prevent because they happened behind glass"
This and D&D/Blades are by far my favorite things to watch!
No assists? May all the gods have mercy on your soul.
Thank you so much Luke and Mike, this game is soooo enjoyable to watch! And the fact that Luke is sweating should be proof enough that streaming IS a real job!!! Thank you again guys, so much!
Improving well. One thing id point out, object of a corner is to make it as 'straight' as possible. Noticed at the last chicane a few times, you moved to the inside when you had no hope of getting past the car ahead, so you closed your angle up, and made the corner alot slower than if you had stayed on the racing line.
The moment that the crash and replay/flashback thing happened I internally screamed "Noooo!!!!!!!!!" because of just how good Luke had been doing.
Mike: "Does it weird you out that I know where the sun sets in the racing track?"
Luke: "It doesn't weird me out but oddly comforts me"
Mike must be overjoyed internally! Finally someone to nerd out with.
You can and should be VERY proud of that drive, Luke. It was a fantastic effort regardless. Great session 🔥🔥
I blame Mike and these videos for leading me down the rabbit hole that is watching f1 highlights on youtube! Now I know all about the drivers and am fully invested. >_
Honestly this video and the previous Driving Academy are my new comfort videos; it's nice putting them on in the background and listening to you two
So, basically, F1 22 does to Luke what Mario Party does to Andy. Nice!
Thanks Oxbox for some great racing content with coach/commentator Mike!
I don't care about car stuff. but it is really entertaining to see you two talking about it!
The “oh my word” and fanning of the face while commenting about the heat and car racing is maybe both the most British and the most American Southern thing I’ve ever seen on this channel.
Birthday stream and now this? What a day!
What a tragedy! Looking back at the footage, Agent 47 was clearly visible adjusting your tires at the pit stop.
49:05 for "NOOOOOO!!"
If I had an Oxboxtra soundboard that'd be on it
I have watched so many of these that somehow I became an f1 fan, and bought the game, just because of these two. Thanks for the great content guys!
I'm not a huge fan of Simulation Racing, but I LOVE these videos, you guys are really fun to watch, and Mike is so damn knowledgeable about every aspect that it's almost like I'm watching a tutorial.
I have literally zero idea what is going on at all but it's Luke and Mike so you better bet I'm watching. I think if they made a video of them watching paint dry I'd still tune in for the banter. I love this channel
58:12 "Why didn't I wear a black T-shirt?" For the same reason ferret leggers wear white trousers.
Whenever I watch this, the talk of not being able to drive as fast while talking reminds me of my own driving back on Forza Motorsport 4. (The last decently realistic racing game I had before Wreckfest that was fully playable on a gamepad.)
Back on there, I always drove faster and made less mistakes if I was singing while driving; I just work really well to rhythm - hence I'm a bass player - and it turned out singing just got me into the zone really well.
I reckon that touch into the wall (I think the lap before?) possibly ended up leading to Luke's demise here.
Also, I found watching the sweat pattern develop on Luke's shirt weirdly entertaining.
47:08 The moment Luke touched the right wall and ruined everything.
Pérez wakes up in a cold sweat, Luke's face still fresh in his mind, no idea who this demonic visage represents.
Until one day, scrolling through RUclips suggested videos, he alights upon an OXtra list feature... "El Diablo. El Diablo. El Diablo" is all he can utter, as he is taken away in a straight jacket.
the hardest is learning to play without the racing line. its more fun once u get the hang of it
Watching sports or playing sports video games really aren't my cup of tea. However, watching you two enjoying it so much and having found common interest in it really is relaxing and warms my heart. Thank you for your content.
The 47min mark when luke goes full british youtuber...." boll... almost did a mild cuss there" ( chefs kiss content)
I love this so very much. Thank you Mike for pestering to the point that Luke's become a racing fan
"Alonso, the wily old campaigner" lol they sound like me and my friends watching an F1 race (quoting the goofy phrases, we hear every F1 broadcast)
I love these videos. Two smart people passionately talking about something I don't understand at all.
I can't believe OXtra is convincing me to play F1 so easily.
48:47 Gonna let this comments with the time stamp for when I fell like I need to see that again
I cannot express how happy I am that there's an hour long F1 video on Outside Xtra with 2 people who really enjoy motor racing.
this was a journey and it was a great journey, even with the failure 10/10 video, more mike and luke motor sport adventures please!
Now we just need a 100x speed up of just Luke to appreciate what he gave for that race
Now we need to see co-op at least a whole season 😁🧎🏾♂️ want to see you guys fighting for a championship
Despite the crash, it feels like Luke's really evolved with the Driving Academy! We definitely need another instalment so we can see him win! XD
That little ruckus at the 29-minute mark… I’d love to see that kind of fight in the real racing. (I pretty much stopped watching around 2013 when every race was just Vettel at the front of a traffic jam.)
I like the F1 feel of Luke being the driver and Mike acting as his engineer.
If you guys had fun too, please do more of these!!! I would totally watch Luke just doing his practices, even without commentary =D But if you guys really wanted to get into it, watching a full season/career would be so cool. I love listening to Mike talk about the courses, and the other drivers, and F1 history, etc.. In any case, thanks for the fun videos!
Oh with thst ending now we DEFINETELY need another one of this videos. It's the perfect sports anime story.
Episode 1 - Luke (the MC) does well but makes some mistkes, Mike (The Sensei) still sees the potential in him and says he can help him improve
Episode 2 Luke learned with Mike and does very well but gets overconfident and maeks a mistke that costs him the race
Episode 3 - Luke having learned from before does very well and gets Top 3. Mike says he ahs tought everything he can but Luke says "No! I know I am good enough to get first place! But I need your help" and Mike accepts
Episode 4 - Luke gets first place
I launched the video to have something to watch as I make dinner.
Long story short, my jaw was clenched the entire time, and dinner is burnt.
Cannot wait for the next installment.
I'm not much of a motor sports guy and certainly not F1 but that was really enjoyable to watch! Thanks a lot for the great entertainment and the dramatic Ferrari moments
That was such a primal bellow from Luke at the end, I felt so bad for him. The Ferrari riffing throughout the video was very funny though
The bus stop was an actual bus stop when it was still part of the public road.
Though I know zero about F1, it was really lovely to see Mike be Luke's Proud Dad F1 Driving Instructor!
I love this video. Luke drove well and Mike on the radio was fantastic!
Delighted to see another one of these
As someone who doesn’t keep up with F1 I have still loved this series and academy. Mike’s joy and pride in the progression Luke has made is wholesomeness
Mike being savage towards Danny Rick 🤣
I think it's a feature, like if you damage your car beyond repair then you aren't able to rewind. Great effort though. 👍🏻
I'd love to see Luke and Mike recreate the next season of F1 in a game with both of them driving as a team.
Now *this* is pod racing! 😎 Cheap end but great effort, Luke!
Luke, you're #1 in our hearts. You really did well, and you sweat it out for us. Can't wait to see another run. Cheers to you and Mike!
I can't stress how much I love this series and I hope it keeps going forever.
Wow! My favourite "Blades in the Dark" players do some sort of a video game channel too 😁
Blimey, Luke is bathed in sweat by the end.
Problems with the car, Sainz fighting the teammate and Charles exiting the race when he is driving best right at the end of the race. Damn this Simulations are getting so realistic its scary
Mike being Luke's race engineer is so good. More of this please!
Mike and Lukes racing videos are some of my favorites. I could go for a little brother channel of just those . "Outside Trax"
I'm so glad that this got a second video I would love it to become a proper series
Really love this series
Always excited to see more racing, these always take me back to my dad and uncle commenting the grand prix together. Five Stares!
Oh wow. I joked about doing this academy in the other video, and here it is. Soo excited! Perfectly timed content now when F1 is on a break
Mike and Luke really nailed the engineer driver interaction at the end there
That was some brilliant racing there Luke. Just remember though, the wheels stay on the car!
I think my favorite thing is when you two refer to the drivers by their first names 😂
this is the first time i'm watching someone play a racing game for real and hot damn the emotions i'm feeling about some little cars. i'm so sorry luke, what bad luck!
I’m enjoying these more than I thought I would
That scream made my week. LOL
Any chance we could see Luke play Dirt Rally or maybe WRC? see how he fares with off-road rallies.
I think Mike should do a segment on niche controllers like Steering Wheels for Racing games and Joysticks for Flight simulators. Maybe get Luke involved have Luke play with a normal controller then a cheap Wheel then with the one Mike owns.
This video is everything. We NEED an ongoing series. 😂
Wow, I usually have to wait until Friday to see Luke get robbed this spectacularly thanks to wonky game mechanics.
This is probably the most Ferrari 2022 acurrate race I have ever seen. Wrong time to pit and then one fatale mistake. Good job :D
I love these! Genuinely I was quite clenched through a lot of it. Please do more!
I once had a nightmare at Spa.
I lost my towel.
Luke really is drenched in sweat by the end.
the black and white commemorative end screen 😭😂
Could be interesting to see Mike narrate a race after the fact so we could see what 100 percent looks like and still get the explanations.
