I tried the 0211 mixed set. 5 6 7 were DC and 8 9 P WERE the blades. I loved the feel. I decided I wanted more distance and forgiveness, so I bought the Mizuno JPX 921's and moved down into single digit handicaps. This is a very accurate video Gabe...good job.
I’ve been playing the 0211DC irons (5i-W) since February. I love the feel and consistency. I went with 1/2” long, 2° upright, and 2° weak. After 4 or 5 rounds I felt something was off so I went back to PXG for a spec check and, sure enough, some of the lofts and lie angles were off. My fitter adjusted everything to exactly how I ordered them. I still had some gapping issues and after another 4 rounds, I went back in again to have some lofts adjusted. I am now dialed in with my iron gapping and here’s where I ended up: W 43°, 9i 38°, 8i 34°, 7i 30°, 6i 26°, 5i 23°. I also have a 22° Gen4 hybrid set at 23° and a 17° Gen4 hybrid set at 18°. For wedges I use the 0311 forged… 50° bent to 49° and a 56°. At the top end is my 0811 Gen4 10° driver set at 12.5°. I am thoroughly happy with my bag and my scores have been improving.
I have been looking at the Takoma 101, but after adding everything up to build a complete set, I think I would be better off buying a package set from pxg
PXG and cheap in the same sentence. I play the Gen 2 0311's and love them!!! People don't realize how affordable they are now. Bought 6-GW for about 650 Canadian with a free fitting and graphite shafts, medium grips and 1 deg flat.
I know, crazy right? I used to think of them as the clubs people flew in on a private helicopter to test. Now they are some of the least expensive on the market if you buy them at the right time. Amazing transformation
Got fitted for my 0211’s this past April. First fitted set. Im a 6’3” 24 y/o who just finished my baseball career. I could never justify dropping the $1,200+ for fitted irons. Buying off the rack for me felt pointless because I knew my specs would likely be not traditional. I paid $550 and I went with 5-GW and i got 2* up and 2* weaker in loft and 1/2 shorter with jumbo grips. I could not be happier with these. Looking to get the 0211 driver, 3 wood, and either 19* hybrid or driving iron. I’m loyal to the brand now and I’ll recommend them to anybody.
I’ve had these for about 3 months and I came from burner 2.0’s. These look better and I gained about 10 yards a club. I’m sitting at about 8 handicap with these down from 10 with the burners. I highly recommend!
Kudos to you for letting us know the shaft specs on this review! So many of the other RUclips reviewers don’t get into the shaft aspects of their reviews. You do a great job and it’s refreshing to see a regular golfer such as ourself doing club reviews. Great job 👏
Something to add. If you are a first responder, Active Duty or vet you can get special discounts on clubs. Some of these discounts can be quite impressive. I had a friend who got close to 40% off of his purchase of a new set of irons and woods earlier this year. It is something to certainly look at. I have relatively new irons and woods but if I was on the lookout for a new set this would be one of the first places I would look.
Yes indeed. I actually bought these when they were $79 for military, but then they dropped the price for everyone last week. Some great deals on the GEN 5s for military and first responders right now.
I’m a veteran and a first responder. Got fitted last December for the 0311p gen 4’s. They were pretty new at that point so still pretty high. Decided to go gen 3 at a spectacular price. PXG is the only brand I know that does this. Which is why I went with them
Thanks Gabe. Finally you fulfill my request. Really appreciate it. This 0211DC work very well. All my PXG setup with regular shaft. Driver : Project X Riptide Even Flow 50g Regular 3 Wood : Project X Riptide Even Flow 60g Regular Iron 5-GW: True Temper Elevate 95g Regular
Bringing the short game today, Gabe. Some really nice chips and that great bunker shot. I play the 0211ST blades in PW-7 and then the DC in 6 and 5 iron. I have my 5i, 6i, and 7i set at 1º upright, and then the short irons I leave at standard. I have large hands, as well, but I've always preferred plain old standard Tour Velvet grips. The lofts on the DC, your Sims, and the Stealth are all within about a degree of each other, so it's a good comparison. Be cool to get some launch monitor numbers on them and see. Have a good one. We're sweating up here in Nashville, too!
That was the best bunker shot I hit all year. Probably just a lucky shot, but I’ll take it. I am definitely going to go head head and the simulator with these. Stay cool up there!
I agree with you about clubs that feel too good. Last year I had Wilson Launch Pads in Reg steel. They were very nice to hit, however as a visually impaired golfer, I can't see the ball flight, I couldn't tell where on the face I hit good or bad shots.. If you can't tell, you can't correct. Traded then for a set of Srixon ZX4's. Since I can now tell where the ball is coming off the face, my score has dropped several strokes a round. My irons are Reg steel, sort stepped once, reg loft and lie. For years, I used the Golf Pride MCC plus 4 Align grips with 3 wraps. I have recently switched to the mew Winn Lite OS grips. They have very little taper, are a little slimmer, and much softer. They much easier on my hands as the arthritis is starting to catch up to me.
I got mine earlier this year. Been playing with them for approximately 4 months and really enjoy them. As a side note, PXG is a great company and has great customer service. My 9 & 6 iron's both had the back plate coming off. Contacted PXG and they sent me out new clubs and label to return the others. Oh, also to answer your grip question, I have mid-size grips with 2 extra layers of tape.
In April 2022 I bought these clubs 5i-GW, stock steel shafts, standard lie and length, midsize grips. I love them! Feel, distance, and value are wonderful! Also got the 4 hybrid.
Catching up on some of your vids. Very nice. Amazed at the price of those clubs. At 56 and my GolfPad app says im about a 15 handicap with TaylorMade Ti Bubble irons. I should probably upgrade everything. I don't want to walk into a golf shop and get 'sold' a set right away. What steps and how long would the processes be to go through that? Oh I recently had one lesson at $115. Did learn to use my body better (bad L4/5) and get more distance w current clubs. Should a person get like a bunch lessons first before buying new clubs? I know, big ask but anything would help.
Glad you focused on feel. These are my clubs and I've heard people be hesitant about them because they are cast and not forged and it is assumed they lack soft feel. I have found the opposite to be true and enjoy them very much. They come stock 2 degrees strong so I weakened them to keep my numbers consistent, and have had no issues with distance control. But good distance, good feel, great value, especially from PXG. (I got them last year at $99, still a good deal).
Just got fit for a Gen 5 bag with the XF woods and hybrids yesterday. Loved the feel in the fitting. Great Black Friday promo going on. Can't wait for them to come in! I like the midsize Winn Dri-Tacs.
Just bought a used set of these and hit them yesterday. They are keepers!! Picking up some mizuno pro 223 irons today and I'm curious as to how these two stack up.
Love the reviews! I bought a set of PXG 0311s and thought they were too hard off the face...similar to G425s from Ping. For maybe a little more money I would highly recommend Srixon ZX5 or ZX7 or anything Mizuno. I truly believe these two brands own it when discussing feel and forgiveness. My ZX5s are long too!
My PXG 0311 Gen3’s are very soft. As good if not better than any Mizuno or Srixon I have ever texted. You must have had the Gen2 or 4 as they were a little harder irons.
Gabe, I use a medium with 4 wraps. Not huge hands but like the feel. Regarding these irons, if you are used to more offset these will encourage a right "push".
I bought these irons 4 months ago and used them for 6 rounds before I had to let them go. I play to a 7 and hit similar yardages as you. I found that the bounce on these clubs are to wide for me. I just couldn't make good contact unless the ball was on a tee or great lie. When it came to tight lies, I never could hit it solid. I wanted to like them, but just couldn't. I now use the Mavrik Pro's and love them!!
I love how you actually use the clubs on the golf course. I can't stand how reviewers will sit in their simulator and hit the irons 10 shots and then give their full review on those little amount of shots.
Thanks! Been wanting to see an updated review on these and couldn't find one until you did it! Between the stealth, ltdx, or these I think. I hate that I have to travel separately to try the PXG but my local golf store fits everything except these:(
I like your videos, subbed a while back. I really liked the 0211 driver, but couldn’t hit the 0811 for spit. I still hit my old Taylormade Jetspeed better. I haven’t tried the PXG irons, because hit he Calloway’s so good. Trying a full set of hybrids recently. I think that’s the route I am going as an older golfer. I typically can play about an inch shorter, standard loft, and about 2 upright. Not a big difference for me vs off the shelf however.
I ordered a set as well 5-gw with same shafts as you and I noticed a tendency to push my shots as well with them. I’ve Almost been tempted to have the specs rechecked. I play 1* upright in my other iron sets and no pushes. It may be the lack of offset as well. Less offset maybe means we need another degree or 2 upright to get same ball path. Keep up the good work!
Might be related to the less offset nature of the irons. We get used to those offsets and have to adjust to the changes when we hit clubs with less of a left bias.
I have the original 0211's from 2019 and I absolutely love them. Personally I like the look of the 2019 version better, but I'm biased. These still look great though. I'm a PXG guy for life now.
Like a kid at Christmas. Waking up early to open presents. Another excellent review. I think it’s hotter in Tampa. Clearwater is beautiful. Thanks for your energy.
Bought these earlier this year, std lie and length, with stock graphite shafts. Great clubs! Previously I was playing Cobra S8, which I also liked, but these are longer and give better feedback. PXG makes great clubs, and now they are affordable, and perhaps a bargain.
changing from 0311p gen4 steel to 0211 dc graphite. very forgiving. score went down to mid 80s from early 90s. I ordered new 0211 xcor2 last week. i am excited to try that one on this friday~!
I bought a set last year and paid for the shaft upgrade, Modus 105, and the performance is great, dispersion on my bad shots do not stray as far as they used to. Need to buy the GW and 4 iron before they jack up the prices. And then probably a Gen 4 driver.
LOVE these clubs. Standard everything except length, opted to stay with their 3/4" over standard...haven't regretted it yet. Grips, the Winn 2.0 in mid size, dark gray. With arthritic fingers it was a must have...I do wish they would offer the new lightweight jumbo max, I have that on my Ping G400 and it feels great too. I've been told the Winn grips don't last, but I change mine every spring anyway. Great clubs!
I've had these a few months. Still getting used to them but I really like them. My first custom fit. I got Stiff, tour elevate shafts. Mid size grip to help my left miss. standard lie. UK cost £75 per club. I went back ang the gen4 driver £250 and its fantastic. Bought a 22 hybrid too and that's great too. All at great prices compared to other brands.
All OEM's go by the same set of specs, determined by the USGA and R&A concerning what a golf clubhead is allowed to do. It's usually the shaft in the club that determines whether it feels more forgiving or accurate. Getting fitted for the exact shaft for your specific swing is really more important than what brand clubhead you're hitting.
Great video. I have had a set of these in my cart for about a month and have been trying to decide if I wanted to try them. As for grips I use midsized and my clubs are 3 degrees upright.
its interesting to see you going with the mp 95g elevates. i had them in my past setup, went to a shaft fitting and they said even though it said "stiff" its super soft and almost a regular flex compared to other shafts. the fitter said i should go with the nippon modus 120 stiff and that has changed my game immensely. great video non the less. keep up the great work
@@LetsPlayThru im in the same boat. i was around 80-85mph on my irons, but once i tried those nippons, surprisingly i was going up to 90 easily with no extra effort. when you talked about the shots going right with those clubs, i had the same issue and just came down to the possible shaft issue.
I see you’ve reviewed a lot of PXG clubs. I’ve been considering the 0211 xcor2 irons. I currently have Taylormade psi irons. I’m curious to know if the pxg set looks like game improvement irons or if they’re fairly sleek. I like the club head size of my Taylormade’s and don’t necessarily want something that look much larger.
I really want to upgrade my irons so bad I get so jealous evertime I see you tubers do a unboxing and a review knowing they have a ton of golf clubs. But do enjoy your reviews being a average weekend golfer as far as power and strike. Sorry I get jealous keep doing what you do I finally bought my first 2 brand new clubs ever this past February for my 40th birthday I bought 2 wilson wedges. And might sound sad but it's a amazing feeling
I’m a high handicapper but swing it fast. On those rare occasions I make good contact the ball goes a mile so look for the forgiveness but not the crazy distance. Think these would work?
@@LetsPlayThru but my worry is they’re too hot. I currently play callaway steelhead xr’s and a flushed 7 iron carry’s around 195-200 which does me no good. Just can’t seem to find a club that is really forgiving but also doesn’t go a mile when I catch it right.
@@tonyfrese287 That’s why I mentioned the pings. You can actually get those set up in a loft that is more traditional. There are three options available. They call it “classic” or “traditional” or something like that.
I've been playing Wishon single-length irons for 6 years now. First the Sterling and now the EQ1-NX. There are only 3 good choices in single-length--Wishon, Edel, and Cobra. If PXG came out with one, I'd pay attention. (Same with Ping or TM, for that matter.) Until then, this is just a curiosity for me.
IIRC, the clubs are 1/2 an inch longer than normal-- did you get their "standard" length or did you get the clubs 1/2 an inch shorter? I thought about buying the clubs because I use True Temper elevate 95 shaft currently , but then I found a set of JPX hot metal 921s on Global Golf with the TT Evevate shafts and pulled the trigger. I sometimes get mid size grips to take the shock out of hands (hence why I use TT elevates).
I like midsize grips. I use regular steel shafts with my irons now, how would I know if I should be using stiff? I use stiff for all of my graphite shafts (hybrids, woods, driver). I've only been playing for two years so I would like to upgrade my irons this year to something newer
Play the stiffest iron shafts you can tolerate. You'll hit it straighter. Pay zero attention to swing speed guidelines - try every flex and let the data guide you.
I have been eyeing these up for a while, so glad you did a review, to say they are just shy of your Sim2 means a lot, knowing Sim 2’s are still going for 600 to 800. For the price I would take these 100%. I loved the Gen 4’s so I am almost sure I’m going to go back and get fitted for these. And welcome back to the OnCores this video. Lol.
Thanks Christopher yes I missed my OnCores! Something else to consider, you can buy just one or two clubs from PXG. So you could give them a shot before you buy the whole set.
Excellent video. How do you feel these irons compare to the Callaway Edge irons from Costco you reviewed a while back? I have the Edge irons but I really like the look of these PXG’s. Thanks!
These are definitely going to be a step up in terms of quality. If you are striking the ball well you’ll appreciate the added workability and prob a bit more distance from these.
Thanks Gabe great value but how do they rank v stealth , Hot Metals , G425 etc ? I would prefer to pay a bit more and get the best club , but if they are the best happy days !!
Just curious if your playing the Vero X2 yet? I was looking at PXG irons but got a great deal on a set of Stealth irons from a TaylorMade employee. It was a nice upgrade from my Ping G2 irons I bought new in 2003. Have you tried/tested any of the PXG putters? Not sure if they are good or not. Don't see many people using them. Nice review as always.
your on top of your chipping game today! Do those irons come with strong or standard lofts? Looks like a very nice deal especially when you can spec them yourself!
I think the Mizuno’s feel a little better, and I would say forgiveness is similar. These look a little bit more players’ iron from the top and less offset to my eye.
Nice looking clubs and solid review. Not one I would consider, but I do like the PXG brand overall. As far as grips go, I changed to the Jumbo Max this year and love them. I have gorilla sized hands and a little arthritis so they really help me to get a solid grip without having to apply too much pressure. Same grip but a little smaller on my wedges for a bit more control on the finesse shots. And mere mortals do not have a 5 HCP...but we'll let it slide. 😁
@@LetsPlayThru Yeah maybe a little if I am being honest. That is why I like the smaller ones on my wedges. But the pros, for me anyway, outweigh the cons. I don't glue my grips on anymore so it allows me to try different ones, pretty easily too, so I am not locked in to these by any means.
@@LetsPlayThru Yes sir. I got the method from the Mobile Clubmaker channel. It works really well with any rubber type grips. I have never had one twist yet and I practice a lot - 200+ swings almost every day. He has some unique content I think you'd find interesting. He's in Georgia, so right around the corner from you too.
Dang thought this was on new 0211. I’ve had this set since they came out last year and they are fantastic clubs. Was wondering if they new version is worth it but not sure I will see too much of an improvement. Practically the same technology in both clubs 🤷
Does R2D2 follow the extraordinary mere mortal around on it's own AI? Also I got $50 off my SC4 yesterday. I put in a good word for you on their feed back pallet. Thanks!
These are so much better than most package set clubs, for around the same price. You could be out the door for 800 if you add their driver and putter..
Great vid. You mentioned Stealth and Sim2 a lot, but based on the looks and less distance, would these be better comparisons to the apex or p790 lines? If so, how do you think these stack up to the players distance category? I’ve been looking for new irons for a while, just haven’t bit the bullet yet. Currently playing the old Apex cf16s.
PXG company is garbage… I bought a bag and it’s defective and they said since I took the tags off they wouldn’t take it back or exchange it, I was playing the 0311 and pounding them but now I will badmouth them forever I enjoy your videos etc…thanks for your tips and enthusiasm!
Why do people complain about the strong loft? They are exactly ONE club strong which basically means your 8i is actually a 7i. Even length wise it is exactly the case 8i=37 Inch. What's the big deal about that, or am I missing something? Did anyone in youtube hit and 8i on these, I would be interesting to see the stat's....

I think you guys are right.
I have the original 0211's from 2019 and I absolutely love them. Personally I like the look of the 2019 version better, but I'm biased. These still look great though. I'm a PXG guy for life now.
I have medium Grips on my 95 Gram recoil Graphite Shafts on my Mizuno JPX 921 Hot Metal Irons , Love them , Those PXG’s Look really Beautiful !
Like a kid at Christmas. Waking up early to open presents. Another excellent review. I think it’s hotter in Tampa. Clearwater is beautiful. Thanks for your energy.
I think you guys are getting a little bit more breeze these days!
Excellent!
PXG irons come stock 3/4” longer then other manufacturers irons?
I've had these a few months. Still getting used to them but I really like them. My first custom fit. I got Stiff, tour elevate shafts. Mid size grip to help my left miss. standard lie. UK cost £75 per club. I went back ang the gen4 driver £250 and its fantastic. Bought a 22 hybrid too and that's great too. All at great prices compared to other brands.
Were they on offer when you bought them as showing as £109 each now? Or have they just increased in general?
All OEM's go by the same set of specs, determined by the USGA and R&A concerning what a golf clubhead is allowed to do. It's usually the shaft in the club that determines whether it feels more forgiving or accurate. Getting fitted for the exact shaft for your specific swing is really more important than what brand clubhead you're hitting.
Gotta disagree with you here. Different clubs are going to have a myriad of different characteristics.
Great video. I have had a set of these in my cart for about a month and have been trying to decide if I wanted to try them. As for grips I use midsized and my clubs are 3 degrees upright.
Definitely worth giving a try
What kind of electric cart go you use? Would you recommend? Thanks
its interesting to see you going with the mp 95g elevates. i had them in my past setup, went to a shaft fitting and they said even though it said "stiff" its super soft and almost a regular flex compared to other shafts.
the fitter said i should go with the nippon modus 120 stiff and that has changed my game immensely.
great video non the less. keep up the great work
My swing speed is somewhere in between stiff and reg when it comes to irons so I found these were a happy medium for me.
It's not a very big footprint in my opinion. The top end is pretty tapered. I'd say it looks similar to a P790 size at address.
Great job Gabe , Love the videos regarding club brands Perforamce
Just picked up a used set of PXG 0211. Love em. What cart are you using.
I picked up the original ones this year, really impressed with their performance.
Would you say thia are for a new golfer with a high handicap say around 22?
I’m a high handicapper but swing it fast. On those rare occasions I make good contact the ball goes a mile so look for the forgiveness but not the crazy distance. Think these would work?
These are very forgiving, but maximum forgiveness is the Ping G425. So throw that in the mix as well.
@@LetsPlayThru good to know. Thank you so much!
Got them 3 Weeks ago. In graphite, 1/2 inch short. Nice clubs and afordable.
I sometimes get mid size grips to take the shock out of hands (hence why I use TT elevates).
could you do a review on stix golf irons?
How do these compare to Mizuno 921 hot metal pro?
I like midsize grips. I use regular steel shafts with my irons now, how would I know if I should be using stiff? I use stiff for all of my graphite shafts (hybrids, woods, driver). I've only been playing for two years so I would like to upgrade my irons this year to something newer
Play the stiffest iron shafts you can tolerate. You'll hit it straighter. Pay zero attention to swing speed guidelines - try every flex and let the data guide you.
I’ve got these, 5 through to GW, bought the 4H and a 3 wood, all cracking bang for buck.
Nice!!
@@LetsPlayThru that is a great point.
Great video as always. They just came out with 0211 XCOR2.
Yeah can’t wait to try them
Excellent video.
Still testing it…that review is coming out soon
These are pretty decent irons. A little too strong for my liking but they do have the option to weaken the lofts so I might have to order a new set.
will you also do one of 0211 ST? Maybe a combo set?
How would you compare these to gen 3?
just bought a lightly used set from ebay for 295$ 7-GW so I'm excited for them to come in
That’s a great value, congrats 🍾
your on top of your chipping game today! Do those irons come with strong or standard lofts? Looks like a very nice deal especially when you can spec them yourself!
Yes thankfully the chipping saved me there the first few holes. There are a few options but in general they’re on the stronger side.
Going to be reviewing the new PXG 0211 XCOR2 irons by any chance? I know they’re just released but 🤞🏻
What is up with your golf bag..? 🤣
I love it..! What is it..? Cheers..!🍻
Stewart Golf Q Follow… here’s the review: ruclips.net/video/qQesZ7N1D-k/видео.html
Gotta have standard plus4 extra w wrap on right hand
I have same clubs but I upgraded the shafts $39 each big difference than the standard love them
Brilliant video as usual 😘 how would you compare the feel/forgiveness with the mizuno jpx 921 hot metal? Cheers
I probably could do the jumbo max myself, but seemed like I lost a little bit of feel in my hands. Do you find that to be the case?
@@LetsPlayThru Yeah maybe a little if I am being honest. That is why I like the smaller ones on my wedges. But the pros, for me anyway, outweigh the cons. I don't glue my grips on anymore so it allows me to try different ones, pretty easily too, so I am not locked in to these by any means.
@@Alan_Edwards that’s cool, are you using an air compressor to get them on?
@@LetsPlayThru Yes sir. I got the method from the Mobile Clubmaker channel. It works really well with any rubber type grips. I have never had one twist yet and I practice a lot - 200+ swings almost every day. He has some unique content I think you'd find interesting. He's in Georgia, so right around the corner from you too.
@@Alan_Edwards I’ve been wanting to do a video about that re-gripping method for a while.
Test out the Maltby TS-1 irons next!
Lovely looking clubs very similar to the callaway apex I got coming but hey for the price free spec adjusted if needed BARGAIN 😀
I bet you’re going to like those Callaways, nice choice too
Looks great
Dang thought this was on new 0211. I’ve had this set since they came out last year and they are fantastic clubs. Was wondering if they new version is worth it but not sure I will see too much of an improvement. Practically the same technology in both clubs 🤷
I will let you know in about two days. Mine came today
My dc2s have Mitsubishi MMT 70 gram shafts and midsize grips.
stealth irons or Pgx irons ?
Amazing vid!
I was getting ready to ask who the hell pulling your clubs but that’s cool!!!!
Just got mine and love them. My daughter played 1 round with them and stole them she loved them so much. Guess I have to order more 🤣
Haha, smart daughter!
Great videos like normal👍
Thanks Bret
Did you buy direct from the website?
Yes
Does R2D2 follow the extraordinary mere mortal around on it's own AI? Also I got $50 off my SC4 yesterday. I put in a good word for you on their feed back pallet. Thanks!
Fun watch
These are so much better than most package set clubs, for around the same price. You could be out the door for 800 if you add their driver and putter..
Driver $230, hybrid $180, irons $480 plus $125 shipping. You’d be well over $1100 with tax…
I think in the category they sit they are as good as anything in terms of distance.
Fun fact that I just found out about 0211s. They have a life time warranty.
I honestly didn’t know that. That’s super cool
Heard good things about pxg would be tough to make a purchase without testing tho
Pro move...since they sell individually, you can buy one or two clubs from them to test.
Doggoneit!! Now I wanna try the 0211s!!
Here’s something crazy I have 0311 gen3 and srixon zx7 1 degree upright 1 inch long and e1 for weight
Lets get this straight most cheap golf clubs are super forgiving
Have you taken them to the range to get them dialed in?
Only the first morning. I haven’t had a chance to get back to the range yet.
i just realize the trolley moving itself.. 😅🤣
PXG company is garbage… I bought a bag and it’s defective and they said since I took the tags off they wouldn’t take it back or exchange it, I was playing the 0311 and pounding them but now I will badmouth them forever
I enjoy your videos etc…thanks for your tips and enthusiasm!
Greens, fairways and bunkers are HUGE in Florida....... not like the UK 😞 ho hum.......
Nice clubs!
im more interested in that cool golf cart following u around..do a preview on that..the thing was on auto pilot
