Thanks for this! I stayed at Mena House twice, at beginning and end of Nile cruise trip in '95. Wife and I were in the newer section, with an unobtructed view view of the Pyramids looming over us. Unforgettable. Even got to play the Mena House Golf Course across the street, which was once King Farouk's private course. Lots of British gov't intrigue happened on the little course because no hidden microphones! I guess the pretty 9-hole course, built in the 1920's, has now been closed (abandoned?) even though it was professionally re-designed in 2010. The MH hotel, too, has fallen on hard times. No tourism to Egypt for many years. So incredibly sad. Hopefully, one day everything returns to glory. Alhamdulillah!
Hi Chris, Brilliant camera shots of the pyramids👍 The hotel gardens looked absolutely beautiful and with that backdrop-just wow. Well done, you looked so happy to be there!
One of the most amazing hotels I've ever stayed in I don't care that some of its dated. The history is amazing We had wonderful conversations with the barman who had some amazing tales to tell.
@@AussieinUK-x8z that's great! Thank you for sharing. It's an amazing location. During my stay the historical part was closed, as you know. It was just a bit sad that the powerful Marriott chain relied too much in the name and hadn't refurbished the rooms to a state they deserve. But the terrace, the people, the location are amazing
So glad I found your channel. I was looking at your Turkish Air reviews and happened upon this. I am planning an Egypt trip and was trying to decide between Mena House and Conrad abs you covered both!
That's what I call a great match. Wonderful. Hope the info on my reports was useful for you. Have a great time watching my content! New videos coming out regularly. Cheers from Germany! Chris
Wow, so very interesting Chris. What an awesome location and experience to stay so close to the pyramids in an historic hotel. Thanks for your honest review
@@TravelSingFlyEnglishEdition but how can it be, i emailed mena house asking which month of the year is the greenest, and they told me that it is May and June…. In your video trees are full of leaves…
Marriott destroyed the most iconic hotel in Cairo and it now looks like a sad, corporate business hotel like anywhere else in the world. The video shows the new addition which has been there for quite a few years. The magnificent Palace part of this hotel (in the background) is not shown as it's being gutted. So sad. The rooms there had an even closer view of the Pyramids.
I know. I looked at that old building and can only hippie they really reconstruct it to old splendor. But it's a real shame what Marriott has done to that place
I hope you'll enjoy the many airline reports on my channel, plus the English ones before August 2021 that can be found on my original channel @Travelsingfly - which today is German-only
