    Very interesting. Usually I hear of the attic from those who seem familiar with it, and your view makes it seem real.

      It was definitely interesting being in a mixed group of some who were very familiar with Attic events, some who had only gone a few times, and those like me from whom it was their first visit! I will definitely go back. Thanks for watching! 😊

    Audrey, it is so much fun to see other people buy stuff!!!!! And it is fun to share your delight in the Attic experience and in all the people you met. I love your flosstubes and I enjoy your enthusiasm and humor and hearing about your family. So keep it up!!! I do love the pattern with the cathedral. I have only made one trip to England and I loved each cathedral we visited. They were the highlights of the trip. That sampler is lovely. Carol in Texas

      I'm glad you enjoy all the haul! 😂 The Attic was an amazing experience, that's for sure, and I'm so glad I can share it all here. I do travel a lot with my husband so I will have more adventure to share in the future. Thank you so much for watching and commenting, Carol, and happy stitching! 😊

    I was able to visit the Attic during a trip with my husband and I bought the Scarlett Letter pattern with the cathedral. My friends didn't seem to like it when I showed it to them but the model was so beautiful!

    • @StitchStitchBead
      @StitchStitchBead  2 месяца назад

      That model for Amelia Boyce SOLD that pattern! I agree that the pattern doesn't do it justice but I loved the finished piece! Hope to start it this year. Do you have a fabric color in mind for that one? I haven't narrowed it down. Thanks for watching! 😊

      I bought cedar river linen tephra in 40 count and I'm using the soie d'alger silks. I'm not totally thrilled with the fabric colour but I'm still going with it.

    Lovely to hear all about the symposium. Yours is actually the first I’ve seen and you’ve made it sound like a lot of fun. Love the Alba stitcher and will definitely be joining in on the mighty wee nation SAL. looking forward to seeing which you decide to go for. And no definitely not tired of seeing Hannah Campbell. It’s stunning!

      @@StitchStitchBead I’m actually cheating a little. I have a sampler that I started last year and haven’t had a chance to work on in a while so I’m going to use this as a chance to make some progress. It’s Agnes Thompson 1819 by Just stitching along. I love how colourful it is.

    Lovely awesome video! Recap on the Attic sounds magical and amazing. I went to the Hobby House Needlework retreat in October 2022 and it was wonderful so you will enjoy. The Attic is on my bucket list. The red sampler you got is actually a sampler that Jean had reproduced, Sarah, stitchspot goes into detail on one of her videos but she finished it already. As a challenge I started Carmelle on January 1 and doing one thread a day, it is really hard to put it down when I’m done with one thread but actually getting a lot done. My husband keeps saying to time myself so maybe I will but some days when I’m doing the letters I get a lot done and then the border takes longer. But I have kept up with it every day. Thanks again for sharing everything. Happy Stitching

      That's so wonderful that Carmelle is your thread-a-day project! I am surprised at how fast she is coming together only putting in a little every day. It gives me hope for some REALLY big projects I want to start! I am definitely looking forward to going to HH in the fall as I've only heard great things. Thank you so much for watching! 😊

    Hahaha, you are totally responsible for orders to 123 Stitch, XJude Designs, 12 Stitch Co, and Hobby House. I’m still catching up on your post since I just recently found your channel, so I know there will be more. It was my first order with 12 Stitch Co. You pushed me over the line. If you could see how much linen I already have, it’s frightening. It makes me happy, so thank you! Loving you! 😍

    Hello! I am Paola, a stitchy friend from Italy. I am here because Laura yesterday mentione you many times, and I was curious to "meet" Audrey! Thank you for your recap of this wonderful retreat. It was fun to hear all the things you experienced there. I would love to attend a retreat, but here in Italy there are not. We've got temporary markets and some people meet once on a while to stitch together in shops, libraries or gathering places, but, unfortunately, there are no retreats with speakers of such quality. I would love to organize a stitchy retreat where I live on Lake Maggiore, but it's not a simple thing to do.... I am stitching Carmelle too, but with a variegated DMC thread. It is a wonderful sampler! I love Keziah Campbell. I think it's an interpretation of a scottish sampler, not a real reproduction, but it's on my list for future wips. I love the Berlin Woolwork, but I think I would not use wool, as you said, because wool could be food for small insects, and silk will last forever! Happy Stitching!!!

      Ciao, Paola! Thank you for watching! Yes, Laura and Brenda are very kind and I feel lucky to have gotten to know them. I am glad you stopped by to watch! I am sorry you don't have opportunities in your area for retreats -- even for me I had to travel almost 2000 miles to get to The Attic in Arizona! I am glad you are loving Carmelle, she is wonderful! I enjoy seeing my progress on her. And I have realized that Keziah is an original design so I have decided to make my own customizations to it as well! More on that next time! Thanks again for watching and happy stitching to you! ❤️

    Thanks for sharing your experiences ❤. Love the Berlin woolwork sampler. If you haven’t tried Appleton wools they are great! Yes not silk but interesting texture. I love using all kinds of threads.

      I have one very small chart that calls for either silks or Appleton wools and I am considering the wools! I think it would make a fun change. Thank you for watching and for the recommendation! Happy stitching!

    Curious, did these women design their samplers themselves? I often wonder where or what influenced them to stitch a particular design. I have yet to do a sampler.Thanbks

    • @StitchStitchBead
      @StitchStitchBead  7 месяцев назад +1

      I believe the arrangement of individual elements were unique to the stitcher but the elements themselves were often borrowed from previously stitched pieces or, when pattern booklets became available, reference materials. If you decide to stitch a sampler, I am confident you will be able to find something you love as there is so much variety out there! Happy hunting! 😊

    Is the Berlin Woolwork Sampler from Germany? And where did you get it? I've never worked on a sampler before, but you sure have increased my interest.

    • @StitchStitchBead
      @StitchStitchBead  7 месяцев назад

      It is a reproduction sampler and based on the name I believe it is from Germany but you should be able to find more information by searching "The Needle's Prayse". This particular pattern suggests stitching it in either wool, cotton, or silk. I purchased my copy of all nine parts from The Attic but you can find it from a few different places online such as here: www.thecrewelgobelin.com.au/p/8484991/the-berlin-woolwork-sampler-part-1-of-9---needle-workpress.html
