    Met Les last week, lovely guy,so helpful and exactly the same in person as he comes across on the channel.
    Seriously considering selling up in the UK, we ended staying in Rayong for a week or so, beaches were amazing and the area is pretty underdeveloped.
    So quiet on the roads once off the main highways. Food and accommodation appears cheaper than the more popular resorts.
    We loved it and will be back, thanks Les, keep up the good work.

    I'm originally from London, but have lived and worked in the U.S. for 20 years (now a citizen). I have a great career and an excellent lifestyle. I still own a small house in S. London. The U.S. is expensive, but is still a great country that offers a lot if one is prepared to work hard!

    Hi Les and Khun Ploy, welcome back from your travels.
    You’re so right about the UK. Everytime you put the news on, whether it’s the BBC or one of the other mainstream outlets it’s always doom and gloom. Makes me feel depressed just trying to keep up with the news. Enjoying the films.
    Best wishes from me here back up in Pathum Thani.

    • @RetiredandLivingthedream
      @RetiredandLivingthedream  День назад

      Western food will always be more expensive here in Thailand, one of my friends complains about this every day as he does not eat Thai food at all. Thai food is much more expensive in the UK. All country's complain about the cost of everything, can you name a Country that are happy with everything. That's the way it goes no Eutopia.

    Same old, same old Les!
    Have you ever stopped to consider that you’re overselling a dream, which will eventually take the edge off it for you and many others? As well as influencing others to take a plunge into the unknown that they shouldn’t and may live to regret.
    Not everyone is as fortunate as you to retire at 50 on a fireman’s pension for life!

    • @RetiredandLivingthedream
      @RetiredandLivingthedream  2 дня назад +5

      We all have choices that is part of life, take advice and act on the information provided and decide yourself if this is the way. Just my penny's worth of my experience, will never get sick of the lifestyle Thailand affords me, the Country and the People are great. I agree I was Lucky to be able to Retire at 50 but nothing was given for nothing, we all have choices and some you win some you don't. Right place right time, the Firefighters were striking for better pay and conditions, like the NHS now the Fire Service then was ran into the ground. At the time of joining the Fire Service the life expectancy of a Retired firefighter was only 10 years, not a good Statistic, but the Unions fought for better training and Equipment this in tern upped the survival rate. Lucky yes but others were not.

      Why would a retired firefighter life expectancy be only 10 years after retirement

    • @whiterabbit3439
      @whiterabbit3439 День назад +1

      @robertmaloney2255 Shift work, toxic chemical exposure, massive adrenal surges (= massive cortisol spirts), and possible ptsd ... (firefighters respond to a plethura of calls... various domestic tragedies ... on a weekly basis × 25-30 years)!
