How do insurance companies in Kenya work in such situations ? Do these people get any prompt relief from them or can they just count the losses ?

No insurance coverage for this,, the government and insurance companies will say it's a natural disaster. So its you and your GOD for the poor but the rich and politicians will recieve huge money for compensations. Probably tourists also will be compensated and taken good care of as you can see.

These companies make an absolutely massive amount of money. They get $500+ per day from every tourist and pay their workers $1-$3 a day for working 12+ hours. Every cruiser usually has 4-6 people in it with one driver (and maybe a spotter). So one cruiser gets $2000-$3000 a day on maybe $40 worth of gas if they drive the entire day. They treat their employees like disposable cattle, so if someone complains about work conditions they will just fire them (and some companies threaten to burn down your shamba). If a problem occurs such as a car rim getting bent or a mirror getting knocked off, the company will dock the lay of their worker for weeks or months until they pay it off. They withhold pay checks, pay people late, short their checks and if you quit before you get your last paycheck then you won't get it. I work with an NGO that investigated them. The tourists are required to buy travel insurance which includes emergency evacuation flights like in this case. These camps are all evil.

Most camps close in May or prior to May because it's the rainy season. These tourists were coming in a discount due to it being the low season.
