Omg. I agree I love him so much. He makes the game so exciting to watch. My tv was having troubles on NBC and I get the Canadian hockey station. My fiancé said y not put that on? I said no! CUZ DOC IS NOT ON THAT CHANNEL! I agree he makes the game so fun for the fans to watch
God this team was soooo good. Guentzel and Sid were so dominant you forget that Kessel, Geno, and Bones were still on the team. Such depth its unreal. God I miss this team
Yes, but it still takes some skill, a cool head, and a nose for the goal. I don't know how many times I've complained over the years about some pretty good forwards who just didn't have much chemistry with Crosby because his passes are often so sudden or they panic and don't bury them.
Guentzel was still pretty clutch even when he wasn't being fed a puck from sid just that game winning goal when they didn't have a shot for 37 minutes him and rust just come through when we need it most
@@austinhofferkamp4299 agree 100%, even as a big pens fan, it wouldve been amazing to see the sens win as well, heres to another great season for yall, hopefully sooner than later
I feel the same way about Doumolin and Schultz. Schultz was picked by Gretzky when he first came up with the Oilers, but it just wasn't a good fit for him. He has really proven himself here.
The goal by Kunitz in game 7 was the best by far against Ottawa. I remember staying up till like midnight watching the whole game on a school night (I was 12) and when Kunitz scored I totally lost my shit lol
Had worked a double shift all day that day. I was running on fumes and so stressed out I felt like I was going to snap every time we missed a chance and the sheer relief when that went in. After screaming and running around the house like a nutcase I remember just collapsing on my bed and taking a deep breath to relax. What a series, and what a team that was.
I am a die hard Blackhawks fan. Born and raised in Chicago. Awesome season. Congrats to Mike Sullivan, Sid the hole Penguins organization and the fans. U guys fuckin deserved it!!!! Great hockey! Congrats on an awesome season and going to back to back
Michael Nacino Thanks man! I'm a diehard Penguins fan, when the Blackhawks beat the Flyers in the 2010 Stanley Cup final, they automatically became my second favorite team. LOL. Best of luck next season and we'll see you on the ice! ;)
God this team was so good. SO SO good. They were frustrating at times because they would let teams off the hook, but you could see when we got cooking, we just played teams off the ice and they were helpless. The Ottawa game and Nashville game 5 were like this. Demoralizing I'm sure, but then we'd come back the next game and only be able to score one goal. That Ottawa series I remember being so frustrated the whole time because we could NOT put them to bed in games.
It's 2022 and it is awesome to see the goals one after another and all the players who scored. It brings back the memories of that team and it's great to see how good they were. It surprised me who scored when and has me thinking about all the guys that were on the team and where they are now. Such a fast team that overwhelmed everyone with speed.
Looking back on this the confidence that a young 22 year old in Jake Guentzel had, you knew he was going to be a star and he hasn't disappointed. If this is the end of him in Pittsburgh all I can say is, thanks Jake, you were a huge part in this 2017 Cup for the Penguins.
This team was so special. Top to bottom they just had an incredibly strong and fast team. The predators were no match for the Penguins in the final that year.
The contrast of the 2015-16 team that won the cup and the 2016-17 that won the cup is crazy. The '16 team was just a buzzsaw going into the playoffs that no team wanted to play and you knew the Penguins were not going to be denied a cup that year. The '17 team was very good, but they had some question marks going in. One of them not having Kris Letang, who missed these playoffs with a neck injury. The '17 team showed so much guts, grit, and heart. They gave out some beatings on team and they took their lumps, but they fought through it all and grinded their way to a second straight cup.
Rewatching this in 2022 really highlights how good Doc was at calling the games. The espn commentators are the most boring I have ever heard and somehow makes Steve mears sound good lol.
Wow this is one hell if a video, heck wish I was there in one of those games especially that one game where they won the Stanley Cup in Nashville to see it.
Brilliant video, I could remember every spot I was sitting in when each goal happened. Even in the hospital for a couple of goals. And how about the classlessness of the Nashville fans? Real hockey towns like Detroit didn't boo when the opposing team won it all.
I thought Honry goal was the best one. The one vs Washington. I know it wasn't huge as his finals one. But it still shocks me that he got the shot off and in that situation. Holby never saw that puck until it was in the net.
jeebs9 still can't believe he was able to lift the puck in that tight. 72 is not exactly the most handsy dude in the league yknow. that goal stunned me lol
Love playoff hockey. Even if Pens get bounced first round i follow until the end. Nothing like it. So Pens are closing in on Detroit's record for consecutive playoffs, in the salary cap era. Pretty impressive. Not sure if they can continue once the core hangs em up. Let's see what fresh talent may come along.
Devs fan here but my god this Pens team was so lethal. They were all so quick and in sync and pestered every opponent. I like to think the current Devils are following the same blueprint with the speed and depth game Pens had.
This video is amazing! It show the Pens gameplan to a tee. They don't shoot in the slot. They dump it ouside and take wide angle shots. Malkin is renown for his slap shot, but watch the video and you'll see him scoring from bad angles. Sid can score from anywhere has most of his from outside the slot, and Rust has no pedigree yet, but seems to like the odd angles as well. This is telling to how they won the cup. But how does a team beat a bunch pf snipers like this?
Don't worry man every team has its time. (Coming from a pens fan) we were starting to go down quite a bit before we shook up management and coaching and had this resurgence.
The Pens have hearts of champions! They never quit! They came into the playoffs pretty beat up, especially without Letang. l must admit, l was worried when Sid was concussed against the Caps, but they found a way like true champs. The ref followed the rules and blew the whistle when he lost sight of the puck. But they tried to give the Preds the game by swallowing the whistle for the rest of the way. Preds goalie tripped our guy, Subban was beating Crosby in the back of his head all game...nothing called. You dont try to "right a wrong" by not calling penalties. Poor officiating, Preds played well... glad Pens won!
As a pens fan I feel bad ruining Ottawa that year. That was their only positive season… like ever (exaggerated). But u get the point, we had to get the job done somehow I guess
Where was Letang during this ? Also I DAMN knew Oli Matta was a cup champ I googled it and couldn't find anything 🤔 few beauties Trevor Dailey, Nick bonino, kessel should of won con Smythe he was electric
Doc Emrick is such a gem, he gets so excited no matter who scores, I love that about him, he's just always excited about fun hockey.
Sucks he retired. Hockey just feels odd without him
Sorry but was he the announcer for the pens when they battled the caps?
@@goldengabe5968 He probably was at least once, he was the one NBCSN used for their biggest games.
I liked the hainsey goal in game 5 vs Nashville most, just love how he got 2 preds to hit each other after a mean juke
God this team was soooo good. Guentzel and Sid were so dominant you forget that Kessel, Geno, and Bones were still on the team. Such depth its unreal. God I miss this team
I'm gonna watch this at least 20 times
Samuel Berdine same haha
And maybe more lol
Join me in re-watching it years later. I miss these penguins and I miss Doc Emerick
Crosby really sets that Guentzel guy up with some nice shots on goal. Must be nice playing as a Rook with Crosby.
John Smith Crosby is a playmaker. It's his job to set people up.
ALifeLost No shit its his job, and dam is he good at it. Guentzel is good player but dam Crosby makes him look great.
John Smith he could make a Kenyan on figure skates look good
Yes, but it still takes some skill, a cool head, and a nose for the goal. I don't know how many times I've complained over the years about some pretty good forwards who just didn't have much chemistry with Crosby because his passes are often so sudden or they panic and don't bury them.
Guentzel was still pretty clutch even when he wasn't being fed a puck from sid just that game winning goal when they didn't have a shot for 37 minutes him and rust just come through when we need it most
42 goals by the boys that playoff season they definitely filled the net. Thanks for everything Horney!
Nice recap of 2017 Pens run! Back to back champs! 🐧🐧
10 - 1
Hockey Lover 2018 swept in the first round by the predators
Go Knights Go 2018! Not done yet.
The depth of that team was insane. So strong top to bottom.
7:58 gives me chills every time
Buying a ticket on game day is still the best money I have ever spent.
Fresh from the bench is Crosby. Crosby on Kunitz a shot. HE SCOOOOORES! PENGUINS WIN IT, AND THEY GO TO THE FINALS!🐧🐧
@@austinhofferkamp4299 agree 100%, even as a big pens fan, it wouldve been amazing to see the sens win as well, heres to another great season for yall, hopefully sooner than later
So glad I can say I was there
when he scored that goal i pretty much knew we would be cup champs ottawa was so tough
the best team won this year
Man, that Blue Jackets series seems like years ago. Happy to say I was at the Game 6 clincher in Nashville and got to see the Cup raised in person!
Ian Cole was so underrated in this run,he was all over the place in this video.
I feel the same way about Doumolin and Schultz. Schultz was picked by Gretzky when he first came up with the Oilers, but it just wasn't a good fit for him. He has really proven himself here.
Ian Miller agreed. Mostly all of the defenseman are under rated. Hell of a job this year
I agree. He is very good defensively, though maybe not offensively. He seems to never hit the net when he takes a shot
Tyler L A lot of the time he does that on purpose setting up rebounds and general chaos around the net.
He's also one of the better shot blockers in the league
The goal by Kunitz in game 7 was the best by far against Ottawa. I remember staying up till like midnight watching the whole game on a school night (I was 12) and when Kunitz scored I totally lost my shit lol
same, i couldn’t even sleep

Whoever took the time to put this together. Nice job. That was awesome.
*sigh* the joys of being a penguins fan
Thanks!
What a hell of a ride this season!
rangers but still i wanted pittsburg to win against nashville

Second game of the season LMAO.
Game 7 vs OTT, Best playoff game ive ever seen my penguins play in #LetsGoPENS!!! #PartyHard!!!

Watching every one of these live made my childhood! Me and my dad didn’t hang out much but I watched em all with him.
this team was overpowered for no reason
That was SOOOOO fun to watch - thank you very much for compiling that !!!
This back to back cup, Jack being the best Rookie in PlayOffs history and all those goals will stay forever ! Black and Gold forever 💪🐧
Jake*
With how good guentzle was this playoff, he had just as many points the next playoffs when they only played 12 games, crazy to think
8:16 the most filthiest goal in the ‘17 run. Absolutely insane. My favorite!
First time in 19 years for a back to back cup. Can you imagine how long a 3-peat would stand?? Oh baby!
The Sens vs Penguins was one of the best series I’ve ever watched.
Nice video !! Reliving the magic that was the 2017 Stanley Cup run !
I'm going to miss Steigerwald; he's a hot mess, but he's our hot mess !
You must be too young to know that Mike Lange is the correct answer.
Might be my new favorite video of all time!!
Crosby - Malkin - Kessel is big trio of ice hickey
Best line since Gretzky-Messier-Kurri
well it's not really a line per say but three powerhouses, it makes for a beast powerplay that's for sure lol
ulphil08 Messier was the 2nd line center for the Oilers. Gretzky mainly played with Anderson and Kurri.
ulphil08 Also the Stevens- Lemieux- Jagr line is easily the best line ever.
Anton Ch. Vegas
Miss this team
Feels like yesterday
Wow! Great work!
Great video thanks a good one for my library

Nice video work again and congrats to the Pens' again...
thanks for this!
This video also makes a good Doc Emrick compilation. His calls add so much to the moment.
Wow this is one hell if a video, heck wish I was there in one of those games especially that one game where they won the Stanley Cup in Nashville to see it.
I'm going to love Pittsburgh Penguins forever
Brilliant video, I could remember every spot I was sitting in when each goal happened. Even in the hospital for a couple of goals. And how about the classlessness of the Nashville fans? Real hockey towns like Detroit didn't boo when the opposing team won it all.
Tommy Phillips they tried to keep Pens fans from coming to the games in Nashville, could you expect anything different?
I thought Honry goal was the best one. The one vs Washington. I know it wasn't huge as his finals one. But it still shocks me that he got the shot off and in that situation. Holby never saw that puck until it was in the net.
Guentzel goal game 1 SCF was my favorite, no shots for 30+ minutes, him being demoted to 4th line, just a priceless goal.
jeebs9 still can't believe he was able to lift the puck in that tight. 72 is not exactly the most handsy dude in the league yknow. that goal stunned me lol
It was Patrick hornvquists was the best because he won the cup for them
Fix your grammar and pronouncing
Nah Geno's vs Washington it gave the team energy and sparked the comeback even though we lost that game

Doc Emrick should be the only person allowed to do play by play for hockey games!!!
Those penguins teams were just so fucking rock solid top to the bottom of the lineup
This video never gets old
wilsons little back hand was a thing of beauty
Guentzel, Shultz, Sid, Malkin, KESSEL. Holy hell what a team this was to watch. Still think Jake deserved Conn Smythe
It is just funny to see how good they were
Love to see it, Nashville fans crying.
watching this waiting for the next hockey season to start
The PENGUINS were on fire that season!!! Go pens!!!
Couldn't be prouder of this team!! 🐧🐧🐧
Can they go for the 3peat?
If they can stay healthy, they have a great chance for the 3-peat
I think this season proved we can still win without being healthy, lol
Tony H the big stars didn't even do much it was all the grinders ! If the stars step up its very possible
Didn't do much? Malkin, Crosby and Kessel were top 3 in points throughout the playoffs, how is that them not doing much? lol
Niko Bellic that didn't win them the cup the grinders did without Kunitz the pens wouldn't of even been there
This video is amazing! It show the Pens gameplan to a tee. They don't shoot in the slot. They dump it ouside and take wide angle shots. I rmemeber knowing we had it in round 2 vs the caps when Crosby scored the opener.
The greatest hockey team there has ever been.
I’m sorry what
In that time period not now nitwit

Very very nice video like
what a amazing season
3rd time watching this! So hyped!!!!
Nice job
thank u pens...its like walking on water..
Awesome video! Go Pens Go!
Why cant my team be this good (coming from a wild fan)
- Same here, I'm a Leafs fan.
do the dew sometimes it sucks when your favourite team is good cause then people call you a banwagon
Brett Kneegrow yea I'm not a bandwagon I just wanted the preds to win because I'm getting tired of the penguins dominating the league
Don't worry man every team has its time. (Coming from a pens fan) we were starting to go down quite a bit before we shook up management and coaching and had this resurgence.
I'm from Pittsburgh so I am completely fine with it
