This has got to be one one the BEST live concert songs in HISTORY. There are no words to describe how I feel every time I watch this. I read these comments and get emotional just reading them because everyone has so many beautiful things to say. Love it.
She’s the best. Her rise to stardom is an absolute crazy story. Herself with her most beloved original band mate made this possible. He was the sax/guitar player/arranger/song writer along with Sade. Those first two albums they created are amongst the best music you might experience in your lifetime.
I might say something strange. But this song has a very incredible specific ability: to make silence sound amazing. Don't twist it ahaha I mean that the pauses before Sade introduces you to the verses with her voice are (to me) the most exciting part of the song. Because there, in those pauses, you can hear the excitement and anticipation and patience of the whole band and of Sade too. To me, to know to just wait in the silent moment is one of the most important skills for a musician. They are perfect.
Yes!! you said it perfectly.. THis song and its construction is absolute perfection and beauty ! I really think it's the best song ever composed, played and sung of course !
That is good musical recognition. The use of rest, dynamics, is what brings emphasis and heaviness to music. I always appreciate when an artist can build tension and release in any style music.
Bought the LP "Promise" when it came out for this tune. Sade's voice is magical, and only the LP does the album justice. A CD doesn't do the acoustics of the band justice. Great to see her in concert.
I luvs me some Macy Gray, but in line with your comment, you should listen to that live version and that's how u can tell someone who's masterful with their instrument & someone's who's getting to know it.
She gives a hell of a concert. I'm so happy to have made her last one in the "Lou". Absolutely perfection". I felt like I underpaid,fr,fr. It was the best surpassing even Prince in Concert!!!
i met her ...golly 25(?) years ago. at first I thought it was just some girl ....beautiful...yes, but just some girl. and she did nothing to draw attention to her celebrity status...we had a great conversation, laughing ...and then it dawned on me who she was ...she gave me a sly playful smile and airkissed me ...and off she went. what a wonderful woman

leslie You're a poet and I know it.
2:16 is a healing resonance. I can't stop listening to it
If this ain’t a queen I don’t know what is.
Is it a crime??
I am 24 years old. The first time I heard this song was when I was 7 years old. I cannot get over how much her voice STILL gives me chills.
im from poland, i feel the same🧡🥺
This has got to be one one the BEST live concert songs in HISTORY. There are no words to describe how I feel every time I watch this. I read these comments and get emotional just reading them because everyone has so many beautiful things to say. Love it.

She is a very special person.
To Everyone that is in Love with these Iconic Legendary Heavenly Blessed Talents God Has Placed Your Spirits & Souls into Pure Love Forever.
Absoulety ❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉Angelic. One and Only SADE & Fablous Men.
Sade is so amazing, but I don't see enough love for the band, that sax player is giving it his absolute all
Without Sade it's basic
They really are tight aren't they Simone
That 🎷sax is something else. On 🔥fire !
He oozes Sex Appeal that's for darn sure
Agreed.
Yes!! you said it perfectly.. THis song and its construction is absolute perfection and beauty ! I really think it's the best song ever composed, played and sung of course !
That is good musical recognition. The use of rest, dynamics, is what brings emphasis and heaviness to music. I always appreciate when an artist can build tension and release in any style music.
Timing ❤
Her low notes are so strong and clear
ABSOLUTE GOOSEBUMPS 2:16
Man 😭 it invokes something deep down in me
Literally🥴
6:15 also hits different
It's fucking insanee
@@5Gewinnt88WHAT WAS THAT
My 10 month old son loves this song he’s always falling asleep to it!
omg!! mine too!!
my 10m old loves SADE
I’m here October 2019 and will be back years to come.
same
Abolutely with u..
Bought the LP "Promise" when it came out for this tune. Sade's voice is magical, and only the LP does the album justice. A CD doesn't do the acoustics of the band justice. Great to see her in concert.
Here NOVEMBER 2019.... can't wait for her next CD and concert!!! She is amazing!!!!
Im still listening the best.
They ain’t made nothing like Sade since... Lord.
She sounds incredible live. I feel like many artists don't sound the same on stage. Pure talent. Wow.
moonbabe ikr
I luvs me some Macy Gray, but in line with your comment, you should listen to that live version and that's how u can tell someone who's masterful with their instrument & someone's who's getting to know it.
guy on the sax was killing it
She's absolutely STUNNING! I'm literally mesmerized. Her control is incredible! The band is mad tight too!
I have been a fan from the beginning....she is simply amazing..as is her band...still get goose bumps...after all these years!
I love her music and her band is "Bad"
the sexiest, soulfulest woman in music.....and that band is kickass
She gives a hell of a concert. I'm so happy to have made her last one in the "Lou". Absolutely perfection". I felt like I underpaid,fr,fr. It was the best surpassing even Prince in Concert!!!
She Is The Epitome of Hot... Sexy... Sensuous... Classy... Genius... And Grace... Timeless;her music Is.
I just have to see Sade in concert and I'll be able to die eternally happy.
TheKingsHeree she’s amazing. To say the least!
Do whatever it takes to see her live. Saw her in MN & she is fantastic in concert. Her band is sooo tight.
TheKingsHeree Do it. Seize the time.
Goosebumps for 7 minutes and 59 seconds straight!
Love the way she sings. She doesn't need a lot of tricks or anything like that. She just sounds good
I don't know what it is but when she goes deep at 2:16 it's almost shocking. I'm a forever Sade fan.
you can feel it in ur soul
Yeah wow awesome 😎
Yesss it just hits different
her voice is just insanely beautiful ❤️
THIS IS WHAT YOU CALL CLASS - THE BAND IS FABULOUS TOO, BUT MY GOODNESS HAVE YOU HEARD ANYONE THAT CAN BEAT THIS KIND OF QUALITY PERFORMANCE?
Floor Jansen from Nightwish, my other favourite female vocalist.
Have you ever been in love with someone you will never meet.... that's how I feel about this woman.
No autotune for Sade. She sings live 100% live with her real band. Nothing prerecorded.
Sade is THE REAL DEAL 💥👍
autotune is garbage!
Sade, Hannah Reid, Alison Moyet, and Lisa Gerrard are my faves.
@sarys73, do those artists do the same type of music?
They really made magic that night.
Sade's Voice is timeless...
My God, she's an absolute Masterpiece. Beautiful, Beautiful Woman.
Sean Williams couldnt agree with you more (: And she still is (: Just mind blowing (:
Everyone talks about the sax but the bassist is the man. Without bass there is no song
Totally. When I saw them live - on the Sweetest Taboo tour ages ago, it was the bassist who seemed to drive the whole thing.
He and Sade (Helen) are the ones who started this band.
This probably one of my top three live performances of a song. This woman is played when you enter into heaven.
Lol I love this comment
Then I’m making sure I’m in 😅
Yes!! Same!! Just curious, what are your other 2? We have this one in common so I want to check out the other 2 :)
Lovers Live is better
One of the best damn artists ever. Live band, no autotune, just pure singing.
The beauty of a half English, half Nigerian woman....just out of this world ❤️
So true.
So many people fail to see that.
The blending of two varieties of God's children into something special that we all
can appreciate.
You can definitely hear that English soul in her.. 😐🤦🏿
No one has that presence. No one. She’s so good. She makes me want to be a better partner, a better lover, a better man towards my woman.
Song is 35 years young and still gets major airplay. AND she has aged well
i met her ...golly 25(?) years ago. at first I thought it was just some girl ....beautiful...yes, but just some girl. and she did nothing to draw attention to her celebrity status...we had a great conversation, laughing ...and then it dawned on me who she was ...she gave me a sly playful smile and airkissed me ...and off she went. what a wonderful woman
I am STILL in LOVE with her 30 years later!!! I had two girlfriends, her and Anita Baker. Sade was my #1 though 🌹💖🌹
Jonathan Hurley wow! Now that’s a wonderful story
I envy you. A chance, moment with Sade, i can only dream of that
Are you sure it was her ...
Jonathan Hurley Funny I have the same dreams only we end up married.
Sade (the band) was on fire that night🔥🔥🌙 what a class act.
I hope they all got out of there safely. 🎈🎈🎈🎆🎇🎆🎇🎃🎃🎃🚸🚸🚸♿♿🚮🎷🎷🎷🎺🎹🎹🎤🎧🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🏃🏃🏃🏃🏃🏃🏃🏃
That saxophone though!!!!
Imagine being the one she wrote this song for 😭
That saxaphone and trumpet switch...my goodness...
The most beautiful woman on Earth.
Senti, I so much agree!
Agreed❤️😍🥰
Mi amor platónico
Who would argue
I can tell none of you are married. Or are you jelux wemen?
Good singer tho!
She said “ I see thru your lies, but I miss you” Wow! I love it!!!
This woman is from another planet. What an energy, what an emotion. Just WOW. This performance hits so deep, I got no words.
Sade, you’re a walking masterpiece. Thank you. ❤
I will forever love this part 2:16 - 2:40
+WarriorDescision Her tone/power in the lower register is so beautiful!
+WarriorDescision Ha, that's exactly why I came here. Just came across a clip of that bit. Never heard of her before, but man... she's good.
+Rhah Nabunaid That's why I'm here too. Lol. Saw a clip of that part on Facebook, and it made me wanna come listen to the whole performance. I love Sade!
+Rhah Nabunaid wow, surprised that you never heard of her. Glad you checked her out. Go check out her life performance of pearls. It is breathtaking. I think you might like it
Me too saw the clip on insta!
Omfg her shape! Her sound. Perfection
This is the most spellbinding thing to ever happen ever.
Sade and her band is TIMELESS! Never before and will never be another performer like her......
When she came on the scene she was totally different than anyone out at that time, her voice was sultry and the music was so relaxed and chill. Looking at this video now in 2020 it's clear that I never realized the "barefoot jazz lady" was actually mesmeriizingly beautiful, just flawless... her face, her body, her voice, just WOW!
different? no. not like Queen Tina Turner
Yesss
Still look the same
@@Dino-su2wh They aren't even in the same category lol.. we know Tina is a Queen, but she did Funk and Rock.. Sade is Jazz. She was different, everyone was either singing ballads or rapping. She gave a new approach to the sound of jazz.

5:20 , please take some time out of your day and just appreciate the raw beauty of Sade’s vocals followed by that amazing trumpet solo.
you can thank Rick Braun for that!!!!!!

having this on 480p is a sin, thank god the sound is good.
Sade been a bad bish since I was 7 and I'm in my mind 40s !!! Classiness never goes out of style
Saw her only once in the late 80s. Her voice live, her awesome band.... best show I’ve ever seen, and I’ve seen many greats. She’s mesmerizing.
Was at her Lover's Rock concert, I was there!🤗
She's a tall, cool, drink of lemonade on a hot day! Class all the way.
The definition of class is in one word Sade
I've NEVER heard her blow like she did at 7:14 and I've been listening to her for more than 30 years! 😳🤯
Certified GODDESS. 🙇🏽♀️
For a while sade was seen as synonymous with eighties, but her music has aged so well and sounds timeless, she is so great, classy, and soulful, and the band are fantastic as are the songs. Lovers rock is a smouldering masterpiece
God handmade her.
+memphislos10 :-)
God is she sweet🍒🍒🍒🍓
what a compliment...
God mustve been about to riskk it all when he created her!!!
Bloodline Made her.
She’s amazing, the guy on the sax was killing it, but can we talk about the man on the trumpet at 5:28?! He was on fire!!
yes we can; the muted trumpet added a sense of mystery to the already mysterious song
Outrageously good solo
Muted Trumpets brought a depth and substance of a mystic noir film.
One of the greatest female performers of all time. She's so special.
Love her and I'm only 13. Grew up listening to her - she's a legend and I'm doing covers of this song during quarantine. This performance is epic!
Me too, I'm about to turn 14. My mother introduced me to her, when she showed me Smooth Operator and it was so mesmerizing. I don't know what it is, but the music, her voice, maybe even her aura puts a total spell on me.
Yeah my mom was forever listening to her since I was way younger. Like 7-8. Not i found her again and can actually sing the lyrics this time lmao but yeah I'm happy there's someone else in our generation who gets this goddesses music
@@bigmamisvea3318 I know! That song is the best! Her voice is unreal :)
@@amayafisher2554 I agree! She's something else to watch and listen to. I only wish I could sing like her ughhhh lol
@@sitara4841 honestlyy she has such a nice range
Something about the feeling you get when you listen to a bomb ass saxaphone or trumpet player! Jazz especially can be one of the most intoxicating things to the mind, heart, and soul no matter what state You're in. I can appreciate a lot of Sade's music myself tho
WHAT A N INSIGHT U POSSESS > MY !ST SENSATIONS PICKING UP & PLAYING MY CHERISHED TENOR EACH & EVERY TIME> UNIQUE DESCRIPTIVES U MADE OF STUART MATHEWMAN ON HIS TENOR. I thought I had a chance to see Sade before retirement but alas retirement for them was years ago. I still dream/vision of visiting New York and sitting on a very tall rooftop with greenery surrounded me, maybe a vineyard? As I puff a cigar feel like I finally feel like I made it! with Sade playing in the background of course! This song always felt so beautiful and so personal
