I always rooted for Adam Lambert. He should have won……but never mind ‘coz he -like Jennifer Hudson- has become a superstar in the world of entertainment.
Honestly? The only winners of that show to have super mainstream success were Kelly and Carrie…that’s it. No one really remembers the others or remembers/knows what they’re doing. The runners up have generally had better careers afterward, and I really have never understood why, but I say…fine. Adam forged his own way, and so did many of his fellow runners up. Even Kelly said, she didn’t release her first album that WASNT under that label for over 10 years after winning the show. Those contracts literally own your ass, and frankly she seems to be her happiest and best self now that’s she’s outside of it. It’s almost not worth your soul and sanity to win it, and I love a lot of the runners up more than most winners anyway.

My late mother loved Adam. When he first appeared on American Idol, she instantly became a fan. By the end of the season (I hadn't watched until the last episode of the season), I was brushing my teeth and I heard this beautiful voice. I stopped, looked into the living room and saw Adam singing. After that, I had become a fan. He reminds me a lot of the late great Freddie Mercury. I'm sure if Freddie was here, and they had met, they would be great friends.

One of the most magnificent voices since Elvis, & Andrea Boccelli. He’s got a 7 range octive (color of purple). Rare to say the least. He can sing anything well. He sang Opera in high school, he can sing gospel!! A favorite since American Idol!

It’s better he didn’t win. He got a better deal in the long wrong. Not many of the actual winners went far. Some did, most didn’t.
