Merchant: "20 lands in the deck - we should be good" (proceeds to draw one land every 8 turns) CovertGoBlue: "30 lands in the deck - we will most certainly be lacking mana" (proceeds to draw 8 lands for the next 8 turns)
But that deck is utterly digusting.. Not fun Magic anymore. Cowarding with all Ugins and boardsweeps. Pathetic. And then even conceding at end because he couldnt win with his "I put all strongest cards in my deck so I will win" deck. What a loser.
@@Mike0verMatter . -i really hate it when a control player keeps me from playing the game and surrenders the moment they can no longer counter you.- edit: scratch that, i just hate control players
I love how well you articulate your thought process and strategy in the moment. Its awesome to watch you playing so frequently in a flow state. All that -and- sprinkling in the silliness to keep it humorous and entertaining to boot. Truly a pro my dude, and one of my favorite mtg streams out there. I learn so much from watching. Thanks for doing what you do.
Thanks CGB. On days like this one where every single Arena opponent I play has chosen the exact deck that beats what I've chosen, it's good to relax, destress and watch the master at work. Even when you play weak decks you still make me enjoy the game again. So, again, thanks CGB - keep doing what you're doing.
Nice video! Was about to craft it but took precaution and saw the outro, so now I'm waiting for that sweet esper that I allready have all of the cards of.
I feel like this deck could easily port into esper, with dance. It would basically be the same deck, just access to some blue sideboard cards and Dance. And Teferi, of course.
I sub to a lot of MTG content creators, and you are by far my favourite. Just wanted you to know. Keep it up, and thank you for the many hours of fun MTG entertainment
Did an actual fist pump when RDW scooped. You make great content, even when you’re having bad days. Haven’t played any MTG since 2015. I’ve always been a black mage from the start. Played the Necro deck, Hatred Suicide, Discarders, MBC’s, anything that ran on swamps, really. First time I played Arena about a month ago, I net decked your Rakdos Lurrus Sac list but replaced a Lurrus with a Strider. Took me to platinum in just a couple of days. The cat oven combo is really annoying but the effect is just too good to ignore. Was really excited to try this deck out but I just don’t have the time and the brain matter to win 15 games daily with this. So, thanks, CGB. Keep churning out decks we can copy.
Winning against that Torbrab after flooding *and* shuffling away that ECD was just...spectacular. Yorion Doom is probably my favorite deck in standard right now. It's such a puzzle to play (because, as you've mentioned, there's tension between Doom Foretold wanting to eat permanents and Yorion wanting to blink them), and also to play against. They both control the board so well, but in different ways, and I think that's part of why the deck works so well. Complicated and difficult to play, but absurdly fun. Esper is definitely better like you said though.
My thoughts on a white/blue/black sacrifice deck: aetherhub.com/Deck/dance-like-a-dragon Not nearly the level of hand hate, but it felt like you were forced to play 2 mana dorks vs an empty hand quite a bit, so I didn't think that was a big hit. The sideboard is a bit thrown together, I think something closer to your typical wish board would fit well there.
I think doom foretold decks are my all time favorite decks. I don’t have enough wildcards to make it, and I don’t have money for physical magic, so I’ll always enjoy doom foretold videos (esper dance of the manse is my fav variant)
Been playing a 60 card version of this with 4 yorion in the main and no doom foretold (cause wildcards, or lack thereof). Playing in mythic right now with it and it’s not crazy good or bad, I just think doom is overrated in a deck where you want to be blinking all your permanents over and over for value. Truthfully, I feel like it doesn’t belong in the main, only in a best of 3 sideboard
Yeah, I've been playing Orzhov Doom off and on since Eldraine, I had more success moving it to the sideboard and just playing BW Control, then bringing it in against decks that either relied on a few good permanents, were susceptible to Kaya's Wrath, or did NOT play Brazen Borrower. Doom is always good for removing your Treacherous Blessings when they're taking a toll on your life total, which is why running Cavalier of Dawn and Final Payment are good options so that you have more ways to remove your Blessing if needed.
Alex Samier No omen, no sad robot, no eliminate. Quantities are a bit different bc of preferences and wildcard amounts. 3 kaya and 3 oath, 3 prince, 3 ECD. I also run 4 casket for removal and 2 bell haunt for another discard effect, life gain, and most importantly a sizable body
My additions were: 1 daddy Ugin, 1 Ugin little son and 1 Baneslayer Angel. Very powerful mid-late game. With 4 Treacherous blessing on deck, in almost every games at least one of those came to battlefield bringing tears to haters.
I've been toying with esper yorion since your original video for orzhov doom, I'm using time wipe, teferi, thassa, disinformation campaign, and it's a lot of fun, threw in 2 massacre worms too which ended up having more impact than I expected they would
How is it not? Hold a Fabled Passage, Play 2nd Fabled Passage, Sac both, Play Brought Back, Return 2 Fabled Passages to the Battlefield. Now you're up 2 lands
Would love to see what a 60 card version of this deck looks like with possibly more Yorion in the main deck to possibly increase consistency. Still nice deck overall. Comment for the algorithm day 29
Dude, 36:50, if you hit 5 lands in a row, dont shuffle your library. The probability of hitting 6 lands in a row is very low, and once you shuffle the library, you are breaking the probability.
Ive tried Rankle in this type of decks to make use of the rats and fenlurkers when opponent is empty handed, as you can make each player draw and then rat discard post combat. Also its a very powerful card on its own and something to bring back with ecd
That was good, only 1 misplay with the exiling for yorian, but you got the pts back pointing out he failed to upkeep scry haha. Very entertaining to watch.
Didn't have the Kaya planeswalker or the more than one extra copy of Yorion, so I put in 2 Massacre Wurms and 2 Necromentias. Deck is a blast... Unranked of course.
Anyone know if there are any mtg formats (or other card games) with simultaneous turns? It wouldn't really work in paper magic, but you could easily have the player's actions hidden from each other until a resolution stage.
I've been playing this for a few weeks and it really is the most fun deck in standard midrange ahoy. I added red for big chandra. And Kroxa eventually.... but the real insight is that for laddering its somewhat unrewarding becuse of the speed of each mouth
Rhythm of the wild and Drakuseth in a Simic Uro shell. The most fun I have had playing standard. You don't win every game. But no deck has more style!!!

I faced this deck two times in a row in best of one, with the rakdos sac CGB showed in a recent video, I lost twice... That's strong. First time I was on the draw, not even a close match, second one on the play, more close but still a defeat. I'm going to return to best of 3... :/
Seriously needs a sweeper in this thing, I kept getting just slammed by aggro while playing it. Doesn't matter how many individual removal spells there are, the minute someone goes wide it's painful.
A couple of those top decks were absolutely clutch. Ripping that Doom when opponent had Torbran/Cleave was epic. Then attacks Kaya & quits. Sad robot? More like "Sad Mono Red".
Where's that music coming from. Did I hear someone say esper doom. "We can dance if you want to, we can leave your friends behind cause if they dance with the mance then there no friends of mine."
Drawing 3 lands with treacherous blessing was rough lol one suggestion, next time you could cycle before activating fabled passage so that you had better chances of drawing a non-land card I love to watch your videos, keep it up!!!
I can't really support the idea of not having board wipes in the deck. Especially when you say it lacks power and gets run over? I mean.. Four mana board wipes should help alot to pause the pressure?
prince yorion? weak! try spark double yorion. it dodges dying to ugin and gets you 2x the value out of your enchantments.... should i make a video? i know CGB should...
dodges ugin because the spark double exiles all your enchantments when it copies yorion, so they’re never on the board during any player’s main phase- i.e. planeswalker abilities can’t interact with them
Love orzhov too bad it’s not ready for prime time. What the hell those 6 lands at the end... and I thought the 5 land hand on the mono red match was enough. My take is they might have done something to try and balance out draws/hands and something is absolutely busted on their algorithm.
Your Esper Doom Dance deck was my favorite to just sit down and play... until M21... i loved watching people counter/destroy all the enchantments, knowing im just going to bring them back as 4/4s... Ugin ruined all the fun.
tbh Simulacrum is simply not needed in this Deck you play on a 4 Mana Curve and be fine 90% of the Time, ECD is simply as a Countr to some powerfull shit in this deck, yorion to reset and do that "bounce in both turns" thing...... Instead of Ramp with a 4 Mana 2/2 you could play much better/stronger cards
I have a deck list for esper yorion. If you wanna see my build I could send it you and donate to get you to play it. Let me know if you're interested sir and thanks for the content

I agree that subbing out doom for another card worth blinking and accruing value is imo better. Example bouncing similacrum, prince, etc
What did you cut then? to make it 60
Yeah, I've been playing Orzhov Doom off and on since Eldraine, I had more success moving it to the sideboard and just playing BW Control, then bringing it in against decks that either relied on a few good permanents, were susceptible to Kaya's Wrath, or did NOT play Brazen Borrower. Deck sucks without doom, no way to get rid of blessing and keeps opponent in check
That first game was SO much fun to watch.
49:42 I think you want to play the second Yorion so you can get one ETB from it every turn for a while because of double ECD
You got some tight games of Magic here.
As an EDH player, I'm so glad that one of the best EDH staples to standard!

Technically White already had access to ramp through the use of Brought Back. You can use it to bring back a Fabled Passage or two.
How is that playing more then 1 land per turn?
How is it not? Hold a Fabled Passage, Play 2nd Fabled Passage, Sac both, Play Brought Back, Return 2 Fabled Passages to the Battlefield. Now you're up 2 lands

That felt like watching blue white control. Nothing wrong with that, but you managed to build such a deck :o
that “accidentally-played-ECD-instead-of-yorion” misplay made me lol
That game against mono red was SO TENSE. I thought Fabled Passage shuffling ECD away was game.
I really sorta think your first opponent kinda made a mistake exiling your Treacherous Blessings with Ugin
