@@allthegearnoidea69 I shoot Canon for my day job, and the SL2s was my walk around every day camera, but found I was leaving it behind due to the weight. I’d tried to the Q2 a couple of years ago, but found 28 too wide for my every day. 43 for me is just right!
The 43 is top notch. I have it and Q3 and the SL3. I see your point about the weight. Courious choice for top down video?? Good luck with sale. It is a very good landscape camera.
I really just wish Leica considered for once making a range finder for the masses. Even if it touched 4500-5000, imagine the vastly more amount of people that could try it out. I truly like their designs and the tactile looks, the blender of curves and blocky areas. And then you see they're essentially like $10k.
@@allthegearnoidea69 their other attempt includes the Panasonic D-Lux. But it’s really just a good little Panasonic camera, as you probably know. Don’t even have any real complaints with it except that it can’t be said to give you a Leica experience, only a good “generic” compact camera experience. Very extreme opposite of the new M-cameras!
@@thatsreallyamoon I tested the D Lux 7 but couldn’t see a world when I’d take it out over my (then) Q2. It just didn’t feel great and the photos I got were just ok. There was no Leica magic!
Exactly where I have ended up. The SL line of Leica cameras and lenses are unnecessarily huge, deficient in autofocus, behind the industry in video, minimal in other standard mirrorless features, and unjustifiably expensive. I use top end Sony equipment for autofocus needs and video needs. The industry leader is such things, along with advanced sensors. I use Leica M because I like the M lenses, the form factor, the still shooting experience, and the unique images the M system produces.
@@stevendente9270 so good to read this mate. I was starting to think I was alone. Yeah the M experience is basically where it’s at for Leica with the Q being a more consumer friends version.
Same, I sold off my SL3 after lugging it around my last trip. It’s not really the size (the SL3 is reasonably compact), but Leicas obsession with making everything out of metal just makes it (and their L glass) annoyingly hefty. It feels totally the opposite with my M11, same great sensor (and they don’t even try to do video with it 😂) and so much fun to use. Loved my Q2 when I had it as well.
I think getting mad on SL3 for bad video is a bit unreasonable IMO as they are for short clips here there and not for video usage much honestly. they are still niche cameras after all and not a workhorse like others.
I’m getting mad because it’s a hybrid camera. And because the CF cards keep freezing. That’s a fault of the camera as I have two cards and both bought from Leica. And remember, M cameras don’t have video. So they shouldn’t offer it if it’s junk.

I’ve recently sold my Sl2s and SL APO lenses, as although great, just to hefty to lug around, and bought a Q3 43 which I’m loving!
@@snappyft so tempted by that! I just need to find the time to test it for a couple of hours.

I think in many ways, that was their thinking behind the Q series, but I also
agree with you.
