I like this! I just finished making about a zillion and ten flowers for my sister's dog grooming business. She puts them on the girl dogs after they're groomed, and she says the customers love them. This one will really look cute! And I have a BUNCH of fabric scraps I can use. Thanks so much for sharing this.
Yeah, 3 1/2 inches doesn't work for me either, so I had to do a second template, taking into consideration the space that I found I had been left with. It's more like maybe 3 3/4 when I did it. But it still turned out really pretty. Thanks for the idea. It's simple and pretty, and I imagine one can take it in different directions, using really colourful thread for instance or trying something maybe a bit bigger. I made a cute brooch for my piano teacher and will be giving it to her this weekend. I'm sure she will like it.
Wow! Very pretty and creative. Just a tip, there's a way of making a paper pentagon with origami technique - just look up "origami pentagon" and you get the instructions for how to fold it.
Please also have a look at my fabric butterfly tutorial. That has the origami folding in it. I just wanted to keep this video short with quick pentagon pattern at this size. Thanks for the tip.
@@NotchesSewing I've had that in my "watch later" for some time, haha! Will make one today for a gift. I commented that origami tip because I used it once for origami stars, and didn't know if other viewers were familiar with it.
Not sure what playback speed has to do with the measurements not aligning. I'm not going too fast. I've tried it several times. It just doesn't align. I got it to work eventually but I had to adjust the numbers a bit. Still turned out great, it just took a bit longer to make the template. @@NotchesSewing
@inforestsweheal sometimes viewers find I’m going too fast and maybe miss a step. This will work with any size , it’s just the method that’s convenient not having to sew little pieces and join them. Thanks for watching!😊
I really love this idea. However, when making the Pentagon, I come up with 4 sides measuring 3.5 inches and one side is 4.5 inches. So, off to the internet to print one. I watched you do it about ten times and my trash was getting full LOL
Make sure to check out other scrap busting projects on my channel😊

Thank you. I always need to decide how to make a tutorial as simple as possible. If I start off with an origami lesson, viewers may switch off…….
Hi I was wanting to know what that was on top of the pentagon and fabric to hold still while cutting. Great video thank you
Thank you. That was a magnet guide that I use as a weight. I just added a crystal doorknob to it..😊
Adorable!!!!
Thanks 😊
That's just lovely. I'd like to make it a brooch. Could I cut some of the 'lump' at the back off to be able to flatten it a bit and put a clasp there?
Sure. I would use some fabric glue and cover with a circle of felt. Have fun!
@@NotchesSewing oh thank you very much 😊 ❤
Gorgeous, thank you. What is the finished size of the flower? I wonder if I can make small ones to put on my blouses I make.
it’s about 3” . Thanks for watching.
100TH COMMENT-
3 1/2 inches doesn't work for me. I'm left with a blank area. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. I've tried two separate templates. :(
Not sure why either. Trying slowing down your playback speed to make sure you are following exactly what I am doing. Cheers.
