"If you decently restore...easily double your money"
      Uhh, no.
Rough but all original, low miles '78 GTBs in "fair" condition currently sell for $30K-$40K. Well sorted all original low miles cars in "good" condition sell for $45K-$50K
To get that hacked-up POS to original "fair" condition would cost $20K in parts alone. Parts alone to get it to "good" condition would run twice that.
$40K in original, period-correct parts plus a shitton of "free" labor and he might be able to get it to "good" condition and sell it for $45K-$50K. Putting $75K into a car you sell for $50K isn't "doubling your money". Even if he managed to somehow get that POS into market-recognized "excellent" condition, all original, low miles '78 GTBs in "excellent" condition sell in the $75K range.

I rode a '76 Honda CB-750-four for years. Every six months or so I would pull the carbs off and clean them. Took about an hour. I would open them up and in all the ports that I could access I would spray CRC Brakleen non-flammable brake parts cleaner [red can] to clean out any crud or buildup. I literally put the little red straw right up against the tiny brass hole. When I was done, I would put them back on and for a few weeks I could start the cold engine with the kickstarter, on the first kick....Without the choke on at all!
CRC NF Brakleen is a miracle worker with carbs. Just make sure you wear gloves, you don't want to get this on your skin. If you do, it will cause an odd tingling sensation and remove all the skin oil from where it landed!

It'll save some frustration and get to places not easily accessed and can be used for a ton or different stuff depending on the size of the cleaner you get. It's not harsh on the parts and pretty efficient just takes a bit of time but you can set it and forget it.

We had a study example of a impeller pump that was moving water around - the corrosion looked very similar. The corrosion was as a result of cavitation within the system, air was getting in and causing sloshing of the water. This in turn stripped the aluminium out and this was the damage. We did the same - TIG welded some material on the flat spots and re-faced everything.

We spent a long time pulling out all the aftermarket stuff added to the '79 (Becker Rebranded Sony Stereo, Becker Alarm System, some other stuff) and repairing the interior. No repaint, but I spent a fair bit of time rubbing out the worst of the cracks and putting a shine back on it. It was only running on 5 cylinders when it came in. Unfortunately, the only photos I can find of either one are just of the front bumpers and parts of the hoods.

I had a 1978 308 GTB as well. What happened to them was that the 76 and 77 308's had 240 BHP, BUT in 1978 Ferrari had to put all the smog equipment on the engine. That cut the power to 205 bhp! Ferrari realized that the engine had the same per cylinder displacement as the 365 GBT/4 Daytona and that the Daytona had higher compression pistons. So Ferrari offered the pistons and new cams ground to "Daytona" spec to claw back some of the lost horsepower. I would hazard a guess that these cams are the same grind.

"Have you ever seen corrosion like what these intakes had?" Nothing that bad. Glad the Wizard is going to do some proper repairs on them. My first thought was to mill them down, but that wouldn't work right if the linkages didn't connect properly or are misaligned. The carbs should be an easy fix with just some cleaning. Nice to see this project moving along quickly. Guess what this coming Monday is?! Memorial Day! So hope to see you guys out on the boat with Hoovie.

The V8 is super reliable and durable. A number of these have served as daily drivers and have 200k miles on them. Very good engine!!!
Those webers will be fine, just need a night in the hot tank. Do you have a weber drill bit set? That's the right way to jet these carbs.
I suspect the alloy used on the intake is different than the heads, hence, the lack of corrosion.
You mentioned suspension bushings were bad... IIRC, the OEM were brass... use brass, delrin or heim joints. I love the idea of heim joints. I put a kit on my old 1992 corvette to upgrade the rear suspension... it used heim joints and flat out rocked.

Well after several heater core replacements I've seen many scary dashes and stripped interiors so I feel you when you say it's like an open heart surgery in there. We need to be extra careful with old cars and their wiring. But I think everyone can see in your face expressions that you do love this car and you want to enjoy it as much as possible. Let's not forget that running a business like the Car Wizard's consumes most of your time in daily basis. I believe you will get it back in great shape in no time and most of all, you'll make it reliable. Who cares if you're gonna use the correct bumpers or door panels etc etc. Do what your heart tells you, make it reliable and take Mrs Wizard for some nice cruises down memory lane with this beautiful time machine. All of you guys on RUclips and generally the internet please bare in mind that some times there are some genuine folks out there like the Car Wizard who do things as they wish and like. Not for the views, neither for the advertising of their business. Just for the liking of a vehicle and in order to let us know some inside stuff when it comes to fixing a car. I'm a car mechanic for almost 20 years here in Greece and even I have learned many things from the Car Wizard's channel. We should thank Tyler Hoover for giving the idea to this man. All of this goes to the people in and out of the Internet who enjoy expressing hate. Keep up the great work and videos Mr Wizard and we're all waiting to hear this beauty purr like a kitten. A lot easier to set the ignition advance and time one dist. vs two. Also, you can but sealed bearings direct from SKF for your carbs to get rid of some the air leaks in the carbs.
