Wizard, I think you've found a goldmine of new content with these types of videos. Seeing you put your expertise to work restoring classic cars like this 308 gets an immediate click from me.
I'm pretty sure it would drive more subscribers to his vlog with this Ferrari. Freddie did it that way with his first lambo and so did Goonzquad boys. He'll be proving that one can own and maintain a Ferrari without paying ridiculous prices.
I agree - would happily watch these all day long!
True
I love the Wizards matter of fact delivery. Very genuine. No hype, no yelling and no BS. Looking forward to seeing this 308 completed!
Exactly - he’s very educational and respectful.
I love how these car youtubers are friends and respect each others hustle. It's wizards attitude that keeps me watching
I think most everyone thought this thing was gonna spend the end of its life as a parts car. It looked absolutely beat by the end of Cartrek... So awesome to see it being restored properly 💪🏼Can't wait to see it on the road!
"I've found more things to fix." ...said every Ferrari owner (or mechanic) in history.
The Wizard abides.
Little did Mrs. Wizard know when she married a nerdy mechanic she'd be driving a Maserati and begging him to fix the AC in the Ferrari.
That's what makes him more interesting because he doesn't flaunt like other RUclipsrs on how much his fancy car is worth. He looks for a cost effective solution. Frickin wizard with the wallet, if you asked me.
hes not nerdy he was in the military
@@EazyDuz18 How exactly does him being in the military disqualify him from being nerdy?
Nerds run the world man.
@@EazyDuz18 Haven't you seen any war movie? Every unit has one nerdy guy (always wearing helmet & glasses) who runs the tech or does the firing math lol
I love that Wizard actually throws shade back at the commenters. "You couldn't be more wrong."
The Wizard does his research. It shows!
😎just love the burn
Spitting 🔥🔥🔥 back at the keyboard commandos! Hahahahaha!
I hope the replies to negative commenters just an affectation for views on his part, because 90%+ of us do not share the naysayer's opinions.
Wizards way of throwing a middle finger. 😎
I really appreciate the straightforward, detailed and steady presentation of Car Wizard’s videos - over-production at the expense of actual content is what puts me off so much of modern television, not to mention a lot of other RUclips channels. It’s very refreshing in 2021. Don’t change.
I'd be tempted to get those US side markers removed when you get the front lip repaired. Engine looks great.
Yes I agree, my 328 GTS never had them, US rules are kinda strange about marker lights, Rj in Oz
@@rjnation5042 they started at a certain year you needed those side markers added
Yep definitely remove the American nonsense
Side makers required in US since 1968 model year. Most automakers simply incorporated them as “wraparounds” during model year updates to meet the requirements.
@@ToxicMisfitsYt 1968 for cars
I love the Wizard burn - “you couldn’t be more wrong” 🔥🔥😎
Dang it we're all hooked on this 308 videos!
You are the Mr.Rogers of mechanics. Your cadence and mannerisms are so on point. Thank you for being a good example of the profession.
The 308 is such a classic Ferrari shape, it has aged so well and it can only go up in value from here on out!
Agreed. It's aged very well. Unlike the Countach, imho.
This one wont. Now too far from original.
@@nothingfaced1 this one will be worth more tbh, given its modifications and being tied to car trek.
@@nothingfaced1 He's already been offered more than he paid for it!
@@nothingfaced1 Interesting. I didn't know the shape changed....
For the radio Blaupunkt has a modern unit with the modern amenities but with the 80's look it's the Bremen SQR 46 DAB
Yes
I think Continental / VDO also has a few retro look radios with some good features!
MacGruber approves.
Can’t wait to hear the car run. The Wizard is doing some serious Magic.
It's all nuts and bolts and some research.
He is making sensible upgrades and spending money wisely and I like his approach.
When done ,and you motor around in it,you need to wear MAGUMN PI HAWIIAN SHIRT AND MS.WIZ NEEDS RELAXING OUTFFIT TOO
I'm kind of confused by the whole "You're just going to sell it when you're done" comments that are mentioned. If Wizard does the car up to a reliably running, presentable state and then decides to take the option to double his money or more, that's entirely Wizard's choice. Sounds like petty jealousy to be honest. I'm really glad the car is getting some TLC, I honestly expected it to give up completely during the trip in Car Trek 4, so it's earned the work, and regardless of whether it's kept or sold on, it'll be in a much better state than when it first graced our RUclips Algorithm.
Its amazing he is saving this ferrari. When tavarish was driving it in car trek 4 it was mad cringe and i just wanted to see it at its former glory, wizard is the guy to do it even though i figured tavarish would have done it.
You are absolutely right. It's so weird how people frequently think they have a say in someones decisions just because they consume their content
@@Watzleroviak1210 No, the principal is that the Wizard should not put himself in a corner by stating he will not be selling it. He can absolutely do that and eventually should . He is awesome for saving it , but he could have said something like I have no immediate plans to sell it! Then , if he decides let it go to somebody, the trolls will not be able pick at him! Enjoy it , and sell it when you want to start another project if you choose. The car will live on !
@@MikeJohnson-ld9rn I agree with both of you. I even made a similar comment above. If the time ever comes, I really hope he ignores all the youtube keyboard warriors who just want a hey (wanna hear the history) bragging rights. And passes it on to an enthusiast with an equal love for it.
@@MikeJohnson-ld9rn "Im not getting rid of this car anytime soon. I eventually will someday. Probably..." - car wizard 14:20
“I’m not going to get rid of it any time soon” that made me so happy to hear Car Wizard. I hope to see a cool new intro with the Ferrari included hahaha
Next month on Cars on Bids...
I thought he was going to say, "It's not going to be in the next 2 or 3 years", instead he said not in the next 2 or 3 months. lol. I wouldn't even dream of selling this car.
THHHHHIS is a 1978 Ferrari 308GTB and it's on sale at cars & bids!
Nothing makes for better car related entertainment than someone brining a classic back from near death by a skilled mechanic IMO - it's why I used to love Wheeler Dealers so much back when Ed China used to be on it.
@@Beer_Dad1975 You probably know, but Edd China recently started doing his own series on RUclips.
I won't say no to more Ferrari content. I am so glad that such a beautiful and iconic car is being worked on by someone who definitely knows what he's doing.
Total respect to the Wizard for doing this job. Please show more detail of the work as you do it. That engine bay has had a transformation and I wish we could have seen all that went into the changes you made. I know you have condensed what might be hundreds of hours of work into a watchable form, but the details of some of your work would be welcome.
Thanks wizard for restoring that Ferrari.
I was really glad to hear that as well. The only Ferrari that i really truly love.
I like the 308, but still looking forward to seeing that V12 Chevelle put together.
Oh Yeah that Thing is awesome hope hell make progress there soon
I like the channel but my main reason for dropping in is the V12 Jagabu
I think we know which one is Wizard's favorite! I would feel the same.
You're right Wizard, I'm really enjoying this 'build'. It's my kind of car at an affordable price point. Once you drive your 308, if you are comfortable in it (it's small) I doubt you ever get rid of it. The sound alone is addicting. Thanks for the fun, enjoy the summer . . . you certainly deserve it!
“I want it to be clean and presentable”. Best tinder profile ever.
Timing belt looks easier to do then on some modern cars I have seen!
yes because old school engineers didn't feel the need to improve something to the point it's useless. They realized that at some point work will need to be done and instead of making it next to impossible to do, they made it easy. For eg: ford eco boost 3.5L where the water pump, a regular fail item, is located inside the timing cover behind the timing components so when the seals go, it dumps coolant into the oil pooching the engine.
Found the channel because of Car Trek and this car. Your knowledge and passion is amazing
Welcome, it's a fun channel. I've been watching him for quite awhile now. He likes to do things the right way.
eventually you'll come to appreciate him the most out of all the characters in the Hoovieverse
I believe that front end is a Euro style bumper. I really love these 308's and I'm glad you bought this one because it deserves to be fixed up.
Yeah the front end is perfect for it
Nope - EU bumper is still a bumper but just a thin strip at the top that is almost flush (288GTO is similar). There is no bumper here, it's all grille - and I think it looks pretty sweet.
@@wombatsauce The front looks good, but I think the original euro black bumper should be there.
It’s a bumper delete kit from that era by the looks of it. 288 stuff looks different.
I really enjoy watching this project come together. I'll bet it's going to be a fun car once you finish. I'm looking forward to seeing the videos of you and Mrs. Wizard cruising around Kansas in it.
I agree with Mrs.Wizard, the A/C definitely needs to come back especially if the only missing component is the compressor.
Gotta be totally cool with the ac on......vintage air kit???
@@rsprockets7846 x2 maybe a vintage air would actually work vs the stock setup
The factory AC is not good but a vintage air would actually work well. Vintage air would be out of place in this car I think. I would probably repair the AC just to have it but in my experience the windows are better than the AC, then again it could be the modern refrigerants just dont get as cold. Propane is really cold, more like freon, so that could be an option also.
Or how about a newer replacement compressor made to replace that unit and associated stuff leaving the factory dash stuff in place
Depending on how long the system has been open to the atmosphere, he's probably going to have to replace every component that holds freon. It is all prone to corrosion.
Mrs. Wizard's line about doing the AC cracked me up!
Wizard's clients are super lucky, his attention to detail and his skills are incredible. Keep up the good work!
Wizard PI about to hit the streets in style on the island of Kansas
I love the dynamic with all the RUclips car channels, between you, Hoovie, Freddie, Ed, uncle Rich, etc... it's nice that you take care when releasing videos not to step on each other's toes
That engine looks fantastic Wizard. Ferrari enthusiasts like Wayne Carini would be proud. Seriously. You've done a beautiful job.
Waiting your turn. That's a classic BOB ROSS OF AUTO MECHANICS move. Thank you for being a team player Car Wizard!
You and 539 Restorations have the right mix of progress and technical details when totally restoring vehicles and doing updates on youtube. Zero wasted time.
Air conditioning on a 308 is a must. Have you changed the heater hose and brake vacuum hose that run from the front through the sill to the engine compartment? Chances are they’ll need renewal. Enjoying the 308 content tremendously 👍 Keep up the good work!
That engine looks 200x better, you're doing an awesome job on this man!
The Wizard is hands down the most polite and respectful mechanic and youtuber out there, massive respect for you man.
Love the authenticity of the Weez and his projects. It shows, and the bombmenters are just jelly.
I love the fact that you've done more in a couple weeks than Freddie did in months. Fully understand he's a busy guy but love seeing this project coming together.
Freddie said on car trek, he had covid and was messed up for a long time. That's why he never got to it.
He had covid and has barely been making regular videos. He got messed up pretty bad.
10W60 is a pretty euro thing I guess? 10W60 is often recommended for hard driving / racing instead of 10W40. Since you'll most likely hit higher oil temps while giving it the beans, you don't want your oil getting too thin (and have less oil pressure).
i own a 2008 bmw m6 - also uses 10w60. guys at the local auto parts store didn't believe me until they looked it up.
You really should be detailing all of the areas you have apart while you go. Not only will it save you time not having to go back but it will also make everything look better in your videos.
All of the dirt, grease, and grime should definitely be addressed. It doesn't take too long and makes the car's condition appear that much better.
Car Wizard, your motivations are out of the question. You are a 'light' person. Your only presence provokes happiness in the environment. You are doing a terrific job. Thanks for sharing! Regards, Nacho.
This is basically your version of Hoovies 348! Raw V8 gated Ferrari you can park anywhere and enjoy without pause.. I love it
I'm not a Ferrari person, but this is one of the few that I like. If I ever make my way that way, I'd love to get a few pictures in person of it!
The man is called "the Car Wizard" guys he knows his stuff.

Go ahead and do the A/C. You won't regret it on a hot summer day. Mrs Wizard has spoken. Gotta do it now! Yes!
I love this series because a old Italian neighbor of mine has the exact same car hidden in his garage. I haven't drawn up the courage yet to ask him about it.
You should ask you never know might not have any close family and if they are a car person they might want it to see new life after they are gone.
I'd say reach out. Just tell you'd love to talk cars and some photos. Car people generally love to talk cars with other car people.
Make him an offer he can't refuse!
@@andylucas8262 It might be just a matter of respect and showing interest. I've never turned away someone interested in my vehicle. I'm nowhere near thinking about selling, but I appreciate their interest and will always answer their questions. I was that guy once and so was he. Start with "Doggone that's a beautiful car" and you can't go wrong.
I am loving this channel bigtime since I connected to it through all the other related car channels and apart from his insane expertise, this guy just comes across as a damn nice decent guy. There is no real show for the cameras or crazy stuff, just him and the missus talking, doing and showing, and it is awesome.
This has been some of my favorite content on RUclips in the last month. Thank you for doing this and sharing the progress!
The Bob Ross of auto repair 😎👍
:: soothing calm voice ::: And here we have a happy little Ferrari. You never can have too many happy Ferrari's. 😜
As told to me by a Ferrari owner on parts estimate. Take a normal price for a part, double it and add a zero.
Fantastic!
Sounds about right for that spare x.x
Might be cheaper to custom fab one lol
LOL!! So true.
The track rod end for a 308 is the same as an old Mini - true story!
I watch all of the guys channels because I used to work on cars. Lambo, BMW, Sports and crazy I have had. But the Magnum 308 is my all time dream car, all these years later and it still gets my heart buzzing. Beautiful and sexy. You're a lucky man Mr Wizard and when it's done you and your wife should take a road trip.
There's something about those 308's that just speaks out for what cars stood for back then. No computers, no gps, no faking your driving skills.
I'm really enjoying this video series and can't wait to see it finished.
Front end looks like a 308 LM front end have a look online. Was for a Le Mans racing 308, wide bodied and looks the business. Great car 👍🏻
Great video. I'm always amazed by your skills, no matter the brand you're working with. A friend of mine is retired as a Ferrari's mechanic, I've got to show him your videos about the 308 ! Best wishes from a french viewer across the atlantic !
The 308 has always been one of my favorite cars since I was a kid. Great job wizard, can't wait to see the finished product.
Mr. Car Wizard, you are a true gentleman. Thank you Mrs. Car Wizard for encouraging these ventures.
So glad you are doing this car in your calm, no gimmicks, no weird E-celeb drama, nice guy style. These cars are meant to be shown off and are a legacy compared to the modern over engineered super cars on the roads today. Beautiful car!
Keep up the good work Wizard! Greetings from Germany
The front end is early 80’s 308 GTS QV going by the lines and shape - no doubt the car wizard will not see this comment
Thanks for being a very gifted old and new school mechanic, I can enjoy not just being entertained but learn on you're technics thanks again and please keep it going
I love how you're giving this car the TLC it needs. Thses are my favorite ferraris, and seeing you put the effort into fixing it is beautiful.
Pumped for another video on this. This car got so much hate on Car Trek but it’s such a beautiful car, wish it was in better shape for the series!
The slowest and oldest car of the three, and the only one with a recorded breakdown, but it had more HEART than the other two Ferrari's combined.
Awesome content Mr. and Mrs. Wizard! Keep up the good work!
Such a tremendous improvements since the first videos! Not only with wizard allocution for also with Mrs filming: so much smoother and dynamic now; good job both of you guys!
It's a beautiful car and I'm really happy to watch it being restored properly. :)
Def keep the 288 look! Best looking 308 ive seen
I watch your videos in amazement. You are able to do things that I’d consider impossible…and make it look relatively straight forward. Keep up the good work on that beautiful Ferrari…
I mean it is pretty straight forward. He won't even take on particular jobs as he's said in the past. Nearly everything he does is easy money.
I really love, Love, LOVE that 288 GTO front fascia, and I'm positively chuffed that you've decided to keep it! It gives your 308 a very distinctive look.
Go for it, Wizard! Always impressed by your knowledge and skill when it comes to everything automotive; and your attitude overall. Thanks for sharing your expertise! Bob
Got to get rid of those worm gear clamps and get some constant tension clamps will look so much better

Good Call! I thought the same thing 👍
from the 70's....lol.....
Hey Wizard P I & Mrs Wizard, count me in as one of the ones that loves the Ferrari 👍🙂
I remember being at the Ferrari dealership in Detroit in the late 80s. I was a young kid nine or 10 years old and I was allowed in the service area. I watched the mechanic back at 308 the rear bonnet was off there’s a couple other things that were off the car but they just did a timing belt service on it and the mechanic was backing it out of the service bay reving it and it sounded so good and it sticks in my mind to this day you’re gonna have a lot of fun once you get that car straightened out.
I love this series! I didn’t know you had your own RUclips channel. I’ve watched you on “Hoovies garage” and of course “car trek “ for a while now. I’m glad the RUclips gods put you in my feed. I love m this particular Ferrari and was bummed to hear how much of a lost cause the car seemed to be(on the show). I’m glad you’re bringing it back to life!
Definitely do the AC when you got everything apart you’ll thank me later on that 90° day LOL
Hook the AC back up...Mrs. Wizard has spoken.
Hey man great job !! and thanks for being tight forward !
Looking forward to every video in this series. Watching the Wizard work on a Ferrari with dual Webers is like a time machine taking me back to when I was 14, anxiously waiting for the next issue of Car and Driver to come in the mail (still don't know how my brother talked my Dad into subscribing.) It's like yeah, I know about this stuff!
Thanks for the video.
Almost time for a hawian shirt and a magnum p.i. mustache!
Better get that moustache ready for Magnum mode
Hoovie can play Higgins
Magnum drove a GTS, not a GTB.
Dang, i should have scrolled down said the same!
The Wizard voice is so soothing and calm. I feel like he is holding me and rocking me to sleep whispering sweet Ferrari nothing's in my ear.
Fair play Wizard really enjoying these videos and can't wait to see the finished article!
love this project
I would love to see the wizard at a track day. I wonder if that’s a thing he’d be interested in?
Don't think he would risk destroying the car after all that work he put in to it lol. Plus the 308 isnt a track car, maybe more gt cruiser.
I could see him taking it on some Ferrari cruiser event, a point A to cars and coffee type thing where he interacts with the general public asking him questions. Ed and Hoovie could do it as well.
With all the RUclipsrs with Ferraris of different generations, it would make for some awesome crossover content.
Id like to see him at the track with any car, Id bet Hoovie let him borrow one XD. but wizzy prob already has a good trackcar tbh
Love the 288 front end. It really sets your car apart. I would replace the A/C. It would diminish the car if you left it off. Everything else on this rebuild is progressing first class.
Of course we love it! The 308 is legit one of the most beautiful Ferrari's ever, and seeing you bring byhis gorgeous stallion back into shape is amazing
He’s such a robot I love it no fuss just straight talk
anyone else just automatically like when they click a Car Wizard video? love this stuff
Yes! He could be reviewing a red solo cup, he's getting a like!
Glad you are going to enjoy the car.. Ferrari's are meant to be enjoyed..
Congrats on it. Can't wait to see the finished car.
I'm really glad this Ferrari has gone to a good home. The 308 is (imo) such an iconic car and it's great to see someone who can re/build it with respect to the original purpose. Bloody nice car, guys.
