The factory AC is not good but a vintage air would actually work well. Vintage air would be out of place in this car I think. I would probably repair the AC just to have it but in my experience the windows are better than the AC, then again it could be the modern refrigerants just dont get as cold. Propane is really cold, more like freon, so that could be an option also.

yes because old school engineers didn't feel the need to improve something to the point it's useless. Car Wizard bought a Ferrari without having to refinance his house or his shop. It CAN be done. @@malcolmhardwick4258 literally no, insurance on a vehicle where I live is close to 300$ for the average cheap car. A Ferrari would be upwards of 500$ a month. Than gas on a car like that would probably cost about another 100$ for day to get it down to the coast for a nice ride. There is nothing financially smart about it, on top of the nearly $100,000 for a good mint model.
I can see why you bought the car, most of the fixes so far have avoided the exotic challenges that "supercars" and "classics" can bring. A beautiful car, really rewarding work I'm sure and entertaining for us to watch as well !

You can get a full set of 16” replacement aluminum wheel from superformance in the UK for $1300. Also a great source for odd replacement/remanufactured parts. If you’ve not planned on it, replace the crossover fuel pipe hoses. I think either Hill Engineering or Ricambi sells high quality replacements. There is super easy way to replace the AC hoses that run thru the lower door sill. After you remove the fuel tank, cut off the fittings on the old hoses at the back then use an inline splice to tie the new and hold hoses together. Have one person pull from the front and one push from the back...takes like 5 minutes tops. Everyone said this work was a nightmare but connecting the old and new hoses made it silly easy. Everything your doing I did to my 77 but over a much longer period of time. Brings back memories under the car with my youngest! 👍

Of course we love it! The 308 is legit one of the most beautiful Ferrari's ever, and seeing you bring byhis gorgeous stallion back into shape is amazing
The Bob Ross of auto repair 😎👍
:: soothing calm voice ::: And here we have a happy little Ferrari. You never can have too many happy Ferrari's. 😜
The wizard always does the best work. Can’t wait to see it running again.
Loving this series wizard!
Such a tremendous improvements since the first videos! Not only with wizard allocution for also with Mrs filming: so much smoother and dynamic now; good job both of you guys!
love the car, I’d love to get myself a magnum PI Ferrari for my future. Unfortunately they aren’t an economically or financially smart car.
Depends how smart you are !
I've had a 328 GTS for about 5yrs, & other than regular servicing it's been completely reliable, it's not a daily but I can get in it anytime & it's never given me trouble, Rj in Oz
15 years ago I found a lot of these going for under 15k and regret not buying all of them.
You can't put a price on happiness or making a dream come true. If you need practical and economical, that's what they make Hondas and Toyotas for. Car Wizard bought a Ferrari without having to refinance his house or his shop. It CAN be done. This is a car every kid in the 70's and 80's had on their bedroom walls, and now the Car Wizard owns the REAL thing. Better late than never.
Front end looks like a 308 LM front end have a look online. Was for a Le Mans racing 308, wide bodied and looks the business. Great car 👍🏻
That old Ferrari has always been my dream car
Me too... I love this era of Italian sports cars! I have a '88 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce that gives me a somewhat similar experience!
I can see why you bought the car, most of the fixes so far have avoided the exotic challenges that "supercars" and "classics" can bring. A beautiful car, really rewarding work I'm sure and entertaining for us to watch as well !
He’s such a robot I love it no fuss just straight talk
I love this series! I didn’t know you had your own RUclips channel. I’ve watched you on “Hoovies garage” and of course “car trek “ for a while now. I’m glad the RUclips gods put you in my feed. I love m this particular Ferrari and was bummed to hear how much of a lost cause the car seemed to be(on the show). I’m glad you’re bringing it back to life!
Definitely do the AC when you got everything apart you’ll thank me later on that 90° day LOL
anyone else just automatically like when they click a Car Wizard video? love this stuff
Yes! He could be reviewing a red solo cup, he's getting a like!
308 is my favorite Ferrari. I remember in the 90s you could get a 308 GTS for about $29,000. Wanted one since I was a kid watching Magnum PI. Still want one. Dream car.
yes you need to fix the ac. it sucks to have a car you love and it gets to hot out to drive it.
Yes, and he is gonna have to suck it up and get the spare tire too.
Absolutely
Rear engined and the radiator in the front - of course it's going to get hot inside the cabin! AC is essential...
I don't think the a/c in these things was very good even when the car was new
Good job to Miss.Wizard actually asking if it was engine out on timing belts very impressive>

any time i watch car wizard i feel like i’m watching a PBS show
Good Call! I thought the same thing 👍
from the 70's....lol.....
If you need a smog pump, I have a rebuilt original. Never installed. Also an air box for the carburetors--some people choose to remove the inside baffles in the air box, but mine is still there.
Your project is looking good! I had a '79 GTS years ago. It was fun.
Almost time for a hawian shirt and a magnum p.i. mustache!
You really should be detailing all of the areas you have apart while you go. Not only will it save you time not having to go back but it will also make everything look better in your videos.
All of the dirt, grease, and grime should definitely be addressed. It doesn't take too long and makes the car's condition appear that much better.
love this project
Totally agree on the front end. It looks great. Much better than the kludgy black bumpers. The lower air dam gives it a more aggressive look. Repaired and repainted, I think it will look fantastic.
I wish you'd make more videos on the Ferrari and more frequent too.
He runs a business too don’t forget.🙄🙄🙄
@@ThomasSeeds Yup. I took that into the request. But based on his other videos, I'd like to see more of the Ferrari build because it's HIS car. Not Hoovies or a clients. It's his own personal project. And you have to agree, it's a Ferrari! His Ferrari.
No.. youtubers release too much content these days. Im happy with his upload schedule
Omg that engine looks amazing compared to what it was when you got it.looks amazing.
Hey Wizard P I & Mrs Wizard, count me in as one of the ones that loves the Ferrari 👍🙂
Enjoy it! You work hard and need to ignore the haters!!! Great job on the Ferrari work, I really am envious of your methodical approach to diagnosing and fixing your cars. Keep it up. Your videos are great.
I would put the AC back on, if it is a driver it is nice to have such options.
The AC from this era in exotic cars has been described as an athsmatic man couging on you. Its not worth it for how ineffective it is.
@@DeatGaming Nothing that cannot be fixed I would guess, might take a bit more work, but still.
I'm happy to see this 308 being treated nicely. It was on the fence of being a parts car and you are saving it.
Freddie is gonna regret getting rid of it. Nice!
I had an 88 Rover County, with 4 square beam lights, yes 4 Hella sealed beams with a Hella grille, never saw another like it. The 308 could have a special grill light setup as well. Looks great Wizard.
I would love to see the wizard at a track day. I wonder if that’s a thing he’d be interested in?
Don't think he would risk destroying the car after all that work he put in to it lol. Plus the 308 isnt a track car, maybe more gt cruiser.
I could see him taking it on some Ferrari cruiser event, a point A to cars and coffee type thing where he interacts with the general public asking him questions. Ed and Hoovie could do it as well.
With all the RUclipsrs with Ferraris of different generations, it would make for some awesome crossover content.
Id like to see him at the track with any car, Id bet Hoovie let him borrow one XD. but wizzy prob already has a good trackcar tbh
I'm really glad this Ferrari has gone to a good home. The 308 is (imo) such an iconic car and it's great to see someone who can re/build it with respect to the original purpose. Bloody nice car, guys.
