    After blowing 3 XR10s trying to run my Trinity 3.0 I am glad I stumbled on your Utube channel. I bought the Castle Mamba Monster 8s and the first time out with it I am VERY pleased! I ran at 16/90 gearing on my DR10 with the R1 11400 brick battery and unfortunately since I have a Mac and a iPhone can't do the data logging yet but I have ordered the blink so that is coming soon. Thanks for all the great info and now with this esc I can feel way more comfortable tuning and racing my Dr10 with the 3.0 motor with out fear of blowing up yet another esc!

    This video right here is awesome! Most people act like it’s top secret information about how to tune ESC‘s and stuff you are one of the very few that have given the information you know to everybody so everybody has a chance to race and learn.

    Have you tried to set your timing up where it comes in at 40000 and it is fully engaged at around 60000? It allows your voltage to recover and comes in like turbo timing.

    man, I gotta pull mine out and get it going again. Built a 2wd slash about 2yrs back for doing speed runs, general bashing. I dropped close to $2k into it and needless to say its been sitting for about a 1.5yrs. lmfao. was trying to at least break 120mph with it ( was hoping for higher speeds actually) but shattered the tranny every single time I took it out. running the CC mamba monster x 8s esc, TP4080 2022kv motor, Revolectrix 70c 5000mah silver label lipo battery and also using the perfect pass launch control and a cap pack (completely forget who makes it). have extended a-arms (front and rear), front and rear sway bars and using hoons dboots tires off the Arrma RC vehicles. I'm using a 36t pinon and 36t spur with a slipper eliminator. 10 times I tried running this setup and every time my tanny broke. 6 times the diff gears shredded, 7th & 8th run the diff output shaft shattered, 9th run the spur gear shaft broke and the 10th well idk cause I never took it apart after it broke due to being tired of rebuilding tranny every run hence the reason its been siiting for 1.5yrs. I've tried using million weight diff lube and even tried completely locking it with epoxy and nothing but tranny problems and never even broke the 100mph mark. lmfao. being told to remove the slipper eliminator and to try hot racings slipper clutch setup and see if that helps. being told that since I have everything locked up in tranny there's no place for anything to give which is why I'm breaking it every time I run it so the slipper clutch should help since it'll slip a bit as im throttling up. I know the slash was never designed to run 1/8th scale motors on 6s but damn. thinking of also trying the transmision thats on the slash drag since its designed a bit differently and uses different planetary gears in the diff. anyone else here have any suggestions other than slipper clutch or a complete transmission change before I get a itch under my ass and start putting her back together?

    I know this is a tune for a castle. I run a tekin rx8 gen3 with a 4.5t motor 20p 87s on a dr10 what should I start my boost at ?

      start low around 5 deg and work up and watch your batt

    my brakes seem kind of weak even on 100...compared to my firma esc... is that normal for the mamba? comparing this to a firma esc

      Not sure. We never really used brakes. In drag we just let the car kind of run out. Braking was always a big gamble on the car going sideways.

      There’s a ton of drk stuff on here just not with this chassis. It was all dr10. Should be something that can help if not let me know

    Great video Chad, I needed to watch it again to remember now I know why it was only letting me go up to 30000 rpm and I was also raising the punch when in reality I needed to leave it at 0%. Thanks again man. Now I have new things to try when I get a chance if the weather let me

    Cheat timing only works with 2 pole motors correct? I tried with my 4 pole and castle link says it won't work with 4 pole and more motors? I tried and it's like a rev limiter. So am I stuck with fixed timing? If so what should I run max? Mom a Monster X 6s esc with Castle 1406 7700kv motor.

      No cheat works with their 4 pole but their timing algorithm is a little tricky because we don’t know how much or when it is applying the timing. You can specify the rpm range but how much and when? Tekin applies less timing at the beginning and more towards the end. Have to data log in castle link and see where the heat starts building and timing getting wasted. I’m sure we will learn a lot from castle in the next few weeks.

    Great channel......I got the same on my Losi 22s with the Iceman chassis. What timing are you using on the endbell of the Trinity 2.5T? I got 25 at the moment.

      What is the can timing set at, mines is at 15 degrees and as soon as the esc timing kicks in blow the tire and spin out i go😂😂🤷🏽‍♂️

      Motor is around 28 degrees. Spinning is all about tuning. Either through a good esc like the drk or using a good remote like the m17 to control throttle

    Should my end rpm be lower or higher than the rpm’s of my motor? If my motor does 70,000rpm, should I be 60,000’s or 80,000?

      I always used to try to have all my timing come in before the end. So if I make 80k I would end it at 70k. But my last races I changed it and had it finish higher. So car rpm was 70 and end was 80. Then I was able to adjust my radio for a faster ramp. This setup helped me run my fastest times ever. 1.998 at 74mph. Vs 2.1 at 70. So play with both and see what works best. See what the car will take. But keep the data for both just in case you’re ever in a situation where you need to pull it back a little.

    Again Chad thanks for an amazing video. I just finished installing the mamaba monster x 8s esc and the trinity 2.5T motor. Thanks to your video I was able to set the esc and motor using the castle link. Question my spur gear is plastic fron traxxas and it got strip. What type and brand of spur can I use that won't strip and that won't mess anything. Again thanks for the help.

      @@Dorkyand40 I'm running a mostly stock chassis losi no prep rtr with some carbon upgrades. It now has a 4.5t Xerun v10 g3 with the MMX 8s and M17. Your channel is what inspired me to go with the castle and the Sanwa. I know some people give you crap over what you suggest but they need to be grownups and make their own decisions with the opinions you provide. I did my research and the purchases ,though expensive ,are worth every penny to me. Ive been stuck in the mid 2s but am slugging away at it learning the chassis setup and getting used to the slipper eliminator. Your tips on m17 settings have been helpful in learning to use and understanding the settings.
      I now have a Rotor Ron Fantom Icon v2 Mod 3.5t on the way as well as a Nooner Carbon chassis. Can't wait to get that going and for the challenges it will bring.

      @@Dorkyand40 I thought I seen in your Mamba ESC Settings your motor direction was set to "reverse" .Is this correct ? I also had to set mine to reverse to get proper motor rotation (clockwise looking at endbell) on my Losi 22s. Now I'm all unsure about my timing being accurate.

      Yes it is. As long as your calibrated you should be fine. I’ve not seen anything to say mine is not being utilized. How ever they apply it.

      Calibration went fine when I switched the esc from normal to reverse .
      I was told by castle tech that my motor may be wound in the wrong direction. I don't think this was the case since motor direction according to the endbell is moving in the correct direction. I think the esc is what is reversed. I even threw my stock motor on the esc before switching out of "normal". It too went backwards. Lol
      I just wanted to make sure cheat timing was added, not subtracted .I did the kv test o. Castlelink and started at 0° and logged rpm. Than 22° than 45°
      Peak rpm did not change with that testing.
      Sorta puzzled.

    What's good Chad? Let me tell you Saturday beautiful day to race that was the high point of my day after that downhill with no brakes. My Losi couldn't get any grip fresh blacktop all that came into play. It was horrible for that car I destroyed the body.... The track has RR tack right next to the strip like less then a foot guess where my car went... Lmao Chassi fine had to race with my Dragconcept car the 1 in my profile I keep spinning out even with stick'em. Back to the drawing board, this is why I'm on the videos again for the mamba. Thanks, dude I told you I would tell u how my day went...💩 lmao.

      I think dropping a tooth or 2 might help it and maybe bring back some rpms. There’s all these little things to do now to try to shave those .1-.2 seconds. I don’t think I’ve ever ran this setup with a lower epa always 100. But I try to just look at my average drop and not these Hi and low. My rx would spike to 12-13volts so it’s hard to judge what’s happening inside these runs with voltage even with great logging. The packs seem to take it. Still good ir after they’re cycled. I’ve got s lot to learn to run faster snd keep those numbers up like I’ve seen some do.

      A regular stick pack would puff though I’d say. I puffed all of mine with my dr10 car. These hold so far.

      @@Dorkyand40 the gearing may help only you will know that. The thing I've learned is voltage is everything if you watch your data you will see the RPMs raise and lower with it the EPA was only a suggestion cuz I see you're running all the timing in the ESC and assuming you're running 30 on the motor you may not want to add any more timing I think most of your ET gains will be in maintaining voltage besides turning it up LOL like I always say we're all learning together

      @@Dorkyand40 So if you set the boost to start at 25000 rpms to 65000rpms with 25 degrees of timing. It is my understanding it will incrementally start adding that 25 degrees of timing at 25000rpms 1 degree every 1,600 rpms until 65000 rpms when it reaches 25 degrees of timing. Then after 65000 rpms it will continue to keep that 25 degrees of timing(boost) until the end of the pass or the motor reaches peak rpm. The mamba is purely rpm based. You use the start and end rpm to control the rate in which your ramp the timing up to control the hit to the tires. If you do the math like above, 40000 rpms and 25 degrees of timing so 40000/25 = 1600, so that tells us that every 1600 rpms 1 degree of timing is added....Roughly.
      The hobbywing uses boost and turbo which is rpm and throttle position based. Im just getting into the DRK and haven't touched a R1 yet.

      That’s the idea even though we really don’t know how their algorithm apples the timing since we cannot log it. We can assume it applies even through the range that we set. That’s one good thing about the drk is we know exactly where and when what is going on. But castle is my main car and it hasn’t let me down yet :)
