I’ve genuinely been super invested in this series because idk anything about coding/building a website - it’s been almost like a magical journey to follow tbh 💀 I can’t wait for the website to go live and am excited for any future projects that may follow :)!
Hey Jed, really love the vid! One tip from someone who worked within multiple startups: Don't put too much effort into your first launch. You need feedback from what users want and not what you think they want. I really recommend you the book "Lean startup" from Eric Ries. Cheers
hey jed, love the series. The series pretty much inspired me to launch a single page website yesterday which just garnered about a couple thousand users in the last 30 minutes lol. there's no self promo here so I won't link it, just wanted to give thanks!
Love this series man. I’d say your real business will be your RUclips channel/digital brand - killin it so far and you’re only going to blow up from here
I think this is website is going to be a trend, but I also see this affecting student's college decisions. But at the end it's very informative and it's only gonna help students find the perfect collegefor themselves. Keep at it man.
Hi Jedcal! maybe u can try incentivizing people to add reviews on the website? Like maybe a point system, rank system or some credits where they can use it within the website or better if you're able to get partnership with popular dorms to offset rents etc. Because for now I don't see a strong reason people will be going onto the site to add a review, most traffic to the site will likely be for people who want to know about a particular dorm before they move in, less likely because they want to write a review! So if you're able to motivate people to add reviews of their experiences I think your website can really gain traction! Just my 2 cents? hope it helps :D
Yeah totally get that! Good ideas. I launched a version of the site in 2020 and all I did was post it on Reddit groups- was able to get 3k reviews. I was surprised but I think these students generally have a sense of community and are more down that I thought to go out of their way. But beyond that, some things I’m doing would be hiring brand ambassadors and I’d pay them X amount for however X reviews they get. Also things like cash/prize giveaways.
When you add the new dorm, you should add a checkmark that you can check that says “add dorm and approve review” to save time on going back and doing that. So you can just check it off and it’s a done process. Since you already have the review infront of you. Just my train of thought.
idk if this would be hard to implement but Im just going to throw it out there. You could make like a community discussion for each college campus like people could post their own threads and other people could reply to them. That could help you get users to use the website regularly and I know a ton of people struggle to make friends in college so it would definitley help them. It might be a good idea to verify those people before they can post for safety reasons.
This was a really interesting video! I loved that you were able to share your process but also your conversation with the founder of good cash. This was both entertaining and informative so thank you for sharing your process 🙏🏾
I would recommend that you read The Cold Start Problem by Andrew Chen From A16Z, it's an awesome book and I think it could give you some insight on the VC aspect. Keep at it :)
You can make money without doing that and your profits will be under yourself (as a sole proprietorship). It’s optional to opt into an LLC and you’d do that if you want liability protection
Hey Jed I'm a new subscriber. I love watching your videos. I found your life super interesting and exciting. It makes your videos very inviting you're doing a great job. Much success on the new website
Great Video Jed! Congrats on your plaque! 🎉 Hope to find an internship or develop an idea to create my own startup! Any advice on where to get a boosted board or a cheaper alternative? #discordgang
Hey Jed! My name is Dan and I recently finished a Bootcamp on Java programming. I am a very nitpicky person and I would like to help you pinpoint some "unforeseen circumstances" that are, most definitely, foreseeable. I believe my unbiased perspective can help you improve RMD. I haven't really been keeping track of your series (i just know it's happening, didn't completely watch the coding and planning parts) so you might've already worked on this but the question that popped up in my head as I am watching the video (7:20) is: What happens if a user decides to delete their account? A) Can they do that yet? B) What happens to their reviews afterwards? Will it just stay as a or will you have to remove the reviews as well (Privacy laws compliance and all of that)? That's all for now, I'm going to continue watching the video. If you want to talk more, feel free to look me up. :)
Hey thanks for commenting! All reviews are totally anonymous anyway, so they can delete their email from the system, but the reviews would still be on the site
oh my god. can you just finish your website and not make 100 days in life on a startup. no hate but your content is just on a loop with no new content ideas.

Just watched to the end of the video and I saw that you already did that haha. Good job on the website!
Haha you read my mind! I talked about how forums can help in the last startup episode 🙌🏻
This was a really interesting video! I loved that you were able to share your process but also your conversation with the founder of good cash. This was both entertaining and informative so thank you for sharing your process 🙏🏾

So freaking dope
how many admins will you have? i mean when the website starts to take off you'll need a lot of help with that
Brilliant!
Nice progress👍
Why would you disapprove a review? Do you have a list of posting rules so there isn’t a thoughthat bias was involved in not approving a review?
Spammers mainly
Let’s gooo, finally watching a video early, and that too could you possibly allow us to put RUclips videos on our ratings ?
