This is my first diorama where I thought about a multi scene story, instead of just a single scene or event. I had a blast building it over 6 months and will show you in 6 episodes starting with this one. Thanks and I hope you like it, Bill.
Thanks CW!! Its the first time I went in depth with a bunch of stuff so I really enjoyed building it. Its going to be fun to show the build. Im still finishing TARAWA, but this will be interspaced.
@@ScaleModelCraft It is a good idea to divide your dioramas in several parts . Me I do the same . So can create several videos ! Wish you a good sunday .Robert
Pink insulation. That's what I learned. What an incredible task with the multiple ideas. Excellent. The dirt is a simple but genius process. Thanks, I'm a noob.
@@thegluebombshow Thats great The Glue Bomb Show!!! I totally feel the same way when I see stuff people do and I have to try it or I get new ideas using their examples, I'm thrilled I can do that for someone else!!! Thanks again the glue bomb show!!! Bill
Thanks Scott!!! This is my personal favorite Diorama. It was the first with lighting and an underground scene which I have done now on almost everything!! It was the first time I started thinking about a single storyline in a diorama. It was the first time I did resin casting making the pigeons...it was the first time for lots of stuff and it sort of showed me what was possible in a diorama, and set my path for what I do today. Thank You Scott!! Just taking a couple minutes to respond to you has been a fun little journey thinking about this diorama, and how it led me to striking out on this current path. Thats Awesome!!! Thanks Again Scott, Bill
@@ScaleModelCraft I very thankful to have just happened to catch your short video of you working on Carlos. Somehow I was drawn to it. Now that I've seen your award winning dioramas, I'm glad I did. My model hero was Shep Paine. I was blown away by the work he did. I would definitely say that your work is on par with his. However my work is not quite up to speed. Age does have it's drawbacks. Lol. I really enjoy the work do. Learning how you do it and your personality. Thanks for taking the time to respond and I look forward to seeing your next video.
Thanks Scott!!! Shep Paine is my favorite also. I saw his dioramas and knew that was the way I wanted to show a model, but it was many years before I was able to even start as I couldn't figure out the ground texture. Even now with so many great dioramas out there, Shep is still the best because he concentrated on the figures to tell the story in his dioramas. One of my favorite quotes is by Geoffrey Chaucer, and used by Gustav Stickley, the great furniture designer from the turn of the last century, "The lyf so short, the craft so long to lerne." I looked it up and it's a translation from an even earlier Hippocrates quote, which to me makes it even more meaningful because of the time it spans. I just might have to do something with that quote in the shop. Take Care, Bill
holy moly, this is EPIC!! :O I love the idea of showing the underground bunker. my main goal when I build dioramas is to tell a story and this really captures that goal in my opinion! not to mention, the building skill is top notch. excellent job!
Thanks Eugenio!!! I really like coming up with a detailed story that helps me work through the diorama when building it. Iy also helps when I need to make a decision about something because I always go back to the story and make sure it supports it. Thanks again for checking it out, Take Care, Bill
Thanks Phillip!!! Yup, I want to do another WW1 diorama, either a German line, or possibly Gallipoli. I've got some books for uniform references and some figures for the Anzac troops, I also like the vehicles during WW1!!! Thanks for taking a look, Take care, Bill
I've built near them all I have the A7V full interior and the meng mk5 full interior to build next! So much to these ww1 tank's! I just come across your channel I had to see what you were doing.
I want to do one whare the British are tunnelling through to lay the explosives on the other side of the German tranches, something like this the way you can see through!
Hi Scottish Bonzai, I completely agree, I think the tunneling to plant the explosives would be a great diorama. I saw a show a couple years ago that said it was all white chalk, and very bright in the tunnels so that they only used candles and still sometimes went "snow blind" due to it.
Thanks David!! the rough dimensions are 12x16 inches, the base is about 3.5 inches tall, and it sits right on the base. I'm not sure how you mean deep, the command bunker is about 7 inches front to back, and in real life it would be at least a couple meters underground. I hope I answered your questions, but I am happy to clarify if I missed your intent. Take care, Bill

Thanks Greg!! Im leap-frogging this with the last of the TARAWA build videos.
Great work, looking forward to the next parts! Reminds me a lot of some things I’m working on now, a 1/35 barn scratch built from balsa.
Thanks Scale Military Models!! I love working with Balsa, I haven't done a full structure yet, I will be looking for your video!!
Great effort I hope you make more models/dioramas like this1
