I’m 16, and I’ve been watching you guys for 6 months and today was my first day working construction; I helped pour a driveway. Keep up the videos 👍

Arlo and johno are the truth they do so much work and are not recognized but as carpenters see that and how valuable they are to your company so great just love you guys and y’all work together one big A team
Loved the splinter!!! My wife heard me laughing and asked if I was watching another Perkins video, the joy of your job site makes me smile.
This book is Awesome! I love the Lean-To-Shed the most (page 98). The plan ruclips.net/user/postUgkxe9yi0sulKgsp0VJJCIrLWWkvVqcU7LFR is to attach it to the back of my brick house. I also like how they walk you through the many different steps of construction, which is important for the less experienced like me.
A photo of Ray’s Laser-eye should definitely go on a shirt! That’s a timeless look!
Jaime need his own channel tooo in addition to everything else you all make happen. INCREDIBLE
Every video is awesome. RUclips should recommend to everyone
Arlo is the man! He so casually comes up with the proper cuts.
We take it for granted… But having a cut man like Arlo makes EVERYTHING easier
Stuck inside with a broken collarbone. Nothing like watching the Perkins crew. Makes my week much better
Good luck with the recovery!
Respect to my man working w/ T1. It’s a serious struggle not many people understand.
Jamie's thing about the beam standing like the tree actually sounded legit
It actually is legit. Japanese carpenters do it. Also, dropping the post will probably help it stay straighter over time. This can be done to stabilize wood when building furniture, table lees, etc… why not an 8X8?
@@ChrisDarjany I heard when they cut by handsaw that the teeth pull the wood towards them to become closer with it.. I know I run my hacksaw blades backwards and it works for me.
Best channel on YT!!
"That's pretty epical" - Jason
Epochal :)
Good carpenters crown their studs. Great carpenters make sure all their studs stand the same way the tree did.
Outstanding!
Once again crushed it! Pretty gnarly splinter Jamie.
@Hello Ken how are you doing
Epical: A Jayism meaning “sweet view”
Those metal fingers are pretty dope
Jaime, you were absolutely correct about the Japanese tree orientation. They also place them on the same side of the structure to correlate with the side of the mountain that the tree grew on. South side of the mountain = south side of the structure.
You guys are quite entertaining. All good. Every job needs to have this kind of humor with the crew.
That view will never get old
Post should be placed same as direction of growth because of density. Closer to the base the greater the density which gives greater support.
Great explanation! Thanks
@@PerkinsBuilderBrothers yea that goes for 2x4 and 2x6s too... ha ha
I love the hats!! Fancy sending one to the UK 😜. Glad to see Jamie back. His hand is incredible!
Thanks! I love my new hand”
@@jaimeperkins9606 Thank you for commenting. Made my day! 😁
You know you've been watching the channel a while now when you remember the "tree the right way up Japanese construction yadda yadda..." lol
Great roof framing tips. Gosh, it must be nice to have man power. In the old days, workers were scare that knew how to frame, and most of the time you were pulling 2x12 rafter up yourself, ouch, back attack. You brothers have paid your dues building with your Dad, and now can enjoy the reputation, and money that goes into building in custom locations. Hat off to you.
I'd love to see a video on Jamie's hand and how it works. It looks crazy cool. Thanks for the videos! You guys are great!
was he mil.? probably not cause I see no other amputations but the damage he has seems excessive for workplace.

Moving right along!
Good to see some guys working, having fun, cracking jokes, and doing a great job as well.
Always look for ward to watching your build episodes and crew antics. Thanks.
Well I am 77 years old and probably not going to use a lot of the information that you presented in your video I am compelled to say that your video is both entertaining and informative and I enjoyed it very much
You guys do an awesome job! Love how ya'll work well together with laughter! Thumbs up guys!
Some really excellent advice in this video! I like how you point out all the little details that obviously come from years and years of experience:)
Wow. Truly a beautiful build, and what a view.
I'm interested in Jamie's new hand it looks awesome being a wood working guy myself missing fingers it would be awesome for a video for us guys
Exclusive materials? These guys are changing the game
Thumbs up! It counts twice! 👍
Learn something everytime you post. Thanks
Nice work guys!
Thanks for sharing the build. Take care and have fun.

I'm loving how this house is looking. I like the style

really appreciate the info on how to build a structural loft roof with the vaulted living space below. i binge almost all your videos just to learn how to frame my own home one day. one of those things that ive wanted to do since i was a kid
Always fun to watch you and the team work together
This is my first time watching Perkins builder brothers n I like what I see. Good job, folks.
Amazing Work
You guys are absolutely genius in your abilities! I'm always glad to view your videos and watch the experts do their thing. Great content and interaction. Well done!
Fantastic video 📹. As a carpenter roofing was my favourite skill. Looking in from Ireland 🇮🇪
Lots of use for a small excavator come on kubota step it up and sponsor these hard working guys with one of there own!!
Man that’s a great idea! Thanks
Love watching y’all. So fun and informative
Here! Just what I needed to lift my mood. Cheers guys!
Great job gents!
Always look forward to new videos from you’all. Before I retired I had a similar work environment. Everyone had a great time while getting our work done.
@Hello How are you doing
Really great to watch and see this grow.
Watching you guys again after a long break (been busy) is just so nice. It's great to see everyone doing well; new bionics, new belts, and a cool new build. Keep it rolling boys. It's always a pleasure.
And that bit about the post being the "right way up"? Yeah, he isn't wrong. See, end grain not only wicks water but also draws it up through capillary action. If you were building a post and beam in an old-school style with posts landing directly upon stone, wicking and drawing moisture is something that you would do well to avoid, right? So you flip your posts.
This is some fine carpentry u guys are doing I’ve done a few new construction and additions but doesn’t come close your guys is work great job guys keep up the good work ! Also learning a lot of new tricks from you guys
Looks great… wanting to see Jamie’s video on the spiral stairs
Great Job explaining everything. Loved the episode.
Jamie handsdown has the best personality on the channel. In fact everybody is unique in their own way. I think they deserve their own HGTV show. To the Young folks, make a petition or something to have them on HGTV. Tag them on Twitter. Make it happen
i always enjoy seeing something build and learning something new.. .thanks
Love watching these guys...been framing 46 yrs....just how I learned ...great guys
All the early vids are also super great to rewatch ..... fantastic and a a joy
That kind of carpentry, so funny 🙈 the wood Dimensions... just like Toothpicks 😌
Hello from Yorkton, Saskatchewan, Canada. Thanks for sharing your great video’s please keep them coming.
@Hello Brent how are you doing?
Great videos guys. I went to school at Southwestern Community in Sylva. Love that area and the whole western side of NC. Grew up a masons tender and have done carpentry and electrical work as well. Have always enjoyed construction! But I really love watching REAL pros like you guys build complex projects like this!!! This is awesome!!! I just sit here and watch video after video after video. 😂
I've done my share of framing...and I'd have loved being on your crew. Lots of smiles.
Sawzall.... for fine adjustments.... hahaha
"I'm surgical with this bit.." words of a wise man
What a cohesive group supportive Bleep Boop
Here in Germany🇩🇪 diese this type of construction is inconceivable. Every garden shed is better built. Any structural engineer would describe the entire structure as defects. Personally, however, I like this design
Plumb is another word for flush. To make things plumb with each other.
So a plumbers title could also be a flusher.
No they're sim but not identical. Two things can be flush with each other but still not be perfectly 90deg vertical or 180deg horizontal.
@@HippieP629 that ruined the joke...
Thanks for all of your work not only building this home and talking about the why's, etc., but also for the excellent editing of these videos!
That's my comment for the algorithm!
I know 0 about building, yet I've watched every episode. I love these videos
Thank you for your videos, I’m building my cabin by myself and this made life a lot easier
EXCELLENT CRAFTSMANSHIP AND ATTITUDE BY ALL CONTRACTOR TEAM MEMBERS...VERY ENTERTAINING...THANK YOU FOR MAKING THESE WONDERFUL VIDEO TUTORIALS!
If you know a sheet metal guy he can sheer you off 1" strips of metal for stirrup straps on the ridge. The stirrup goes over the ridge and you screw into the undersie of your rafter. Metal loves tension and they will put all the pull at the top onto the ridge beam. Gravity also forces the stirrup to pull in at the bottom of your rafter strap, but also allows you to move the bottom of your rafters in or out until you hurricane strap them in at the bottoms. 22 gauge is plenty of strong straps for the stirrup. Your rafter will snap before the stirrup even reaches a quarter of its load capacity on a 15' long rafter.
Always enjoy and always learning from you guys! Keep it up!
Awesome job guys, you are my new favorite builders after RR Buildings!
Great job guys.
Man its good to see ur brother back building homes and helping u
Like your work guys. Got some good pointers watching your video. Reminded me of when I was 1st starting out as a carpenter back in the early 70's when all our roofs were cut n stack. Humping all that lumber , 2x10 and 2x12 by hand. Makes you into pretty good shape for sure. Now that I am older, the young guys get to do the grunt work. All fun still.
Always so wholesome!
I've watched many building videos, but yours are the ones I learn the most from. thanks.
Good to see Jamie back on the job. Just not the same without him.
Agreed
Thank you;)
Jamie is the best
