Totally agree about the Manager. I think the Rambler toolset is pretty unbeatable, and whether you get Rambler, Manager or Midnite Manager, there are very few SAKs at any size that can beat them for EDC, especially if you put a premium on size and weight. I have the Midnite Manager, because I appreciate the convenience of having a whole EDC setup in one small tool, meaning I can keep my torch in my bag for when I really need it. It’s been interesting, because it’s a tiny blade, weak torch, and somewhat eccentric pen option, but it provides enough functionality in all those tools for daily use in my experience.
That model with the saw is called a Hiker, and its one of my favorites. Hang a Classic on your keys and your set. Or even better, put a Rambler on your keys and a Farmer in your pocket.
Yeah, that was a bit strange to hear that he did not pick the farmer x because it does not have any scale tools and at the same time probably has a 58mm one with scale tools. To me it makes more sense to have scale tools on a 58mm because a Rambler never leaves my keyring. For me it is also a farmer x and a Rambler that never leaves my keys.
I 100% agree that the Manager is an EDC by itself. I just wish it came in other scale options (such as black) without modding it. For now, I’m going with a black Signature, and I’m trying out your setup with the magnets and a Rovyvon A8, really enjoying it so far!
Thank you so much for opening my world to the AliExpress 58mm Pen scales! For me the Manager is the ONLY tool I need to EDC and having the metal scales just takes the tool to the next level.
Honestly, I would have expected the victorinox ranger to be in the list. It is my first victorinox when I was a kid and is still my favorite 91mm. By the way, thanks for letting me know how good the money clip is! I never know that it is so skinny!
Really liked seeing all your custom Victorinox, especially what you did with that blade-less one. Some real hard decisions on this video. Although I typically carry a Swisschamp I don't know if I could ever willingly part with my Farmer-X.
Thanks for showing all those fine tools of your collection! The compact tinker is also referred to as the mechanic. Also victorinox offers to change the screwdriver for the philips head (the regular rounded one)
Since I always carry a dedicated blade, I carry the Leatherman Style PS for the pliers and scissors. It is also TSA compliant since it doesn't have a blade. Add a pen and a light and I have what I carry daily. I work from an office in a hospital, so the rest of my tools are at my desk.
I would agree 100 % for the Manager. I actually have a signature and a rambler. Basically I just swapped their scales thus it is now a DIY Manager. It stays on me 24/7. I use it everyday at work and I work in EMS. Scissors in victorinox are the most underrated especially on this 58 mm. Raptor is now resting on my pocket after I got it waiting for real hard use cases for it to be unsheathed.
The Compacted Tinker Deluxe would be a very good EDC SAK. I like the Jetsetter as well for the scissors and Phillips so it compliments others tools (such as a Walker) well and I can take it anywhere. I don’t care much for the 58mm pen, if you want a small pen I’d go with a Zebra T3.
Just a few weeks ago I started looking into getting pretty much the same Jetsetter setup, considered cannibalising a Manager for it and eventually decided that getting titanium scales from Ali is probably the way to go. The fact Victorinox doesn't sell either a pen version to make it more versatile or an alox version to make it much smaller is really annoying. And so is the small pen scales being the most difficult ones to source.
What model is that small, vintage Swiss Army knife with awl, micro flat head, and engraved “DGS”? I’m in search of a small pocket knife just like that with the extra small flathead, Phillips, knife, and scissors. I carry the leatherman micra now, but would like one with a more inline extra small flathead.
I have like 30 victorinox. I have a SAK problem. I really like to carry a sportsman for the needle because i find it very useful. Very small but no scissors so I also carry a 58mm for the scissors. I really like the alox versions and I have a nice collection but I find the celidor scales more useful because I'm one of the few that enjoys the toothpick for its versatility. Also find myself needing a tweezer when I dont have it on me.
the manager has been on my short list to pick up if I find one for a good price, but recently decided to go with the modified Ozark Trail multiforce instead and looking to incorporate a Schmit D1 635 refil underneath the file instead of the manager.
Have you ever tried to use 58mm SAK with no scales? I use Victorinox Manager with removed twizeers/toothpic side scale. Only wish It has MiniChamp's like hookknife insted of blade.
Luv my Farmer X Alox. I carry a Uncle Bill’s Sliver Gripper on my keyring cuz I like a pointed tweezer tip and I would not use the toothpick for hygienic reasons so the scale tools are not needed for my use. The Alox scales seem far more durable, the tools lock firmer, and some of the tools are beefier.

Would u say a titanium manager is the best multitool there is? I just got one. But I’m wondering if my spirit mx clip is still necessary if I carry the manager with a pair of knipex pliers or a leatherman squirt ps4 since I don’t really need pliers for heavy duty tasks
I still also find myself using a dedicated knife so for me the manager is a secondary blade obviously but more for the small pair of scissors and the pen and tweezers that are extra tools I may need. My favorite Victorinox 58mm has to be the Mini Champ Alox. It's about the same thickness as the Manager, but the toolset suits me so much better. (This is partly because I also often carry a Huntsman Lite, which covers all the other things the Manager has.) The Mini Champ has one of the rarer tools that's actually surprisingly useful, and that's the orange peeler. What's it so useful for? Well, it's actually perfect for opening all those plastic bubble packages that can be so tricky to open with a normal knife. Besides that though, the Mini Champ also has two blades, the same small philips as the manager, and a measuring tool like you wish the Manager had. And of course a scissors. The one thing I've found nearly useless is the cuticle pusher. If I ever decide to mod it, that's going to have to go.
Wow surprised to hear that about a Wave when so many swear by it but it's mostly people in the US. I am no LM fanboy and am not so impressed by my Squirt PS4 but it's not bad. My Rebar isn't bad either but the saw is flimsy af, very thin, and I prefer the ones on my Victorinox 91 & 93mm knives. The LM without pliers are garbage I'd agree. Even their pliers based multitools are not as good as Victorinox i.e. Swisstool, Spirit. Plus all LM are ridiculously overpriced here in Europe. Not planning to buy any more of them, but I'll happily keep buying Victorinox.
@@simonh6371 Ueah i live in Sweden, i did like the scissors on my leatherman but it was also the first thing to brake. Maybe they cant handle the cold. But in all seriousness i never cut anything but thin paper with it 😂 I also hear alot of people swear by them but im just nnot impressed with the quality long term. Multitools from for example victorinox are alot cheaper and much higher quality. I dont know if it has a plier but that is not very important to me as their never that good anyway. I rather have a set of knipex pliers in my car. Yeah americans seem to think if it says made in USA that means its high quality, i call bullshit on that one.

Why is gear so addictive?😭
I’m guessing it’s like grown men toys to us.
Yeeeep
I have no good experience with leatherman at all. Specially thinking about my leatherman wave, absolute trash and junk quality.
I don't like your EXTREME & EXCESSIVE amounts of commercial!!! SHAME ON YOU AND youtube.
Nothing is free, that's how YT works bro.
