      I recently finished re-watching it, for about the sixth time.
      In some ways it's better as a binge watch (not all at once 🙂), because you can remember some of the foreshadowing to later events.
      Back in the 90's some "small" event would occur in season 1, with the pay off 2-3 years later, in season 3 or 4, so often wouldn't remember the foreshadow until a re-watch.
      Hope you enjoyed it and remember the Babylon 5 mantra.
      "Ivanova is always right.
      I will listen to Ivanova.
      I will not ignore Ivanova's recommendations.

    One thing that you didn't mention is the hints that significant parts of the ship technology was derived from recovered, stolen and secretly acquired Shadow technology.
    I'm going from memory here, so forgive me if I'm wrong in the detail - there is a short story, of dubious canonicity (from what I recall it was written by JMS, and published in the B5 magazine and is canon compliant, but it wasn't on screen), that explains this. The power and computer systems involved Shadowtech, and consequently would cause debilitating nightmares and discomfort to any telepaths aboard. Captain Ivanova, having some awareness of this and it's potential impact, took her ship - the EAS Titans - to B5 and had President Sheridan come aboard. The ship's computer freaked out in reaction to his Vorlon/Lorien ... ness, and thus proved it. In order to protect Ivanova, her ship and the assets both represented, they secretly moved Kosh/Ulkesh's shuttle, still berthed on the station, onto the Titans. It reacted to the Shadowtech on the ship, and being that much more advanced and 'complete', overrode and took over the Shadow-influenced systems, freeing it from the potential influence and allowing it's captain, and any other teep aboard, rest. It also meant that the Vorlon shuttle would be well hidden, away from where it's tech could be stolen or undermined by the Drakh.

    • @vorlon010
      @vorlon010 6 лет назад

      The first, you're probably right. Having looked it up, the latter was semi-retconned in the story - but that's in part why I flagged the dubious canonicity. I've gone and looked it up, the short story is called 'Hidden Agendas', was in fact written by JMS and published in B5 Magazine, May 2000. Wiki link: babylon5.wikia.com/wiki/Hidden_Agendas (I have a copy of it... somewhere. Would be nice to know where but I don't)

      So unlike the shadows the drakh somehow managed to disappear along with all their technology and the Centauri never found a scrap? How unlikely considering in the real B5 timeline drakhs left behind a corpse when killed and not even the mighty shadows who were millions of years beyond the young races were able to keep their technology out of the hands of the young ones...
      As you said it was a possible future one of a near infinite amount of possibilities. There's a future where earth says fuck it and conquers everyone too. As part of a newscaster's voiceover at the end of Season 4 she mentions Susan Ivanova being promoted to Captain and given the command of one of the new Warlocks so that's pre-Interstellar Alliance. I'm trying to remember from where, but I recall the Warlocks being the first Earthforce ships with gravimetric drives and allowed the crew to experience 0.3G instead of full 1.0G. I would hope once Earth received Mimbari tech after joining the Interstellar Alliance they would have gotten upgrades to a full gravity.
    As for Shadow technology there's so little of the Warlock in canon they're really vaporware. Very cool vaporware though! I wish we could have seen them in Season 5 of B5 or more than a glimpse on Crusade.

    Great Vid! Love this ship even though it didn't get much screen time. Few extra notes I found in my research, most likely Non-Canon. 1. The EA had actually developed a gravity control system on their own. This system was only able to generate 1/3 G. This was significant because the Warlock was designed with artificial gravity, so when EA was given the advanced Minbari AG system it was able integrate it more easily. 2.A lot of tech received or stolen by the EA from the Shadows was intended for the Warlock. President Clark had wanted these ships fielded during the EA civil war to counter the White Stars. The EA engineers couldn't finish the Warlocks in time, so the systems were tacked on to some Omega class destroyers. This tech was later given back to the IA when earth joined the IA. Even though some rouge elements in the EA kept Shadow tech research.

    Check it out. Independently targeting particle-beam phalanx. WHAP! Fry half a city with this puppy. We got tactical smart missiles, phase plasma pulse rifles, RPGs. We got sonic, electronic ball-breakers! We got nukes, we got knives, sharp sticks... Oh wait, its from another universe.
    I don't know the last time I saw Warlock in action, it got served by Vorchans. For my the best ship was Shadow Omega destroyer ( aka Omega-X) .. at least it was stylish

    Thank you for another B5 ship vid! Have you seen the new "Lost in Space" on Netflix? It has mixed reviews (I, personally, enjoyed it). The Jupiter series spacecraft, though, are really amazing (with DYNAMITE set design) and I hope that you can do a short or just a quick vid on your thoughts about them.

    I thought that the Warlock did retain ion-engines (which, when combined with the Minbari/Centauri etc. inspired gravitic drive system gave that behemoth acceleration previously unknown to EA ships)?
    Not to mention that a lot of the tech had already been recovered (the IA just helped iron out the kinks!), like the artificial gravity system (they weren't able to produce Earth standard - 1G - but it did work before the IA showed up...I mean Clark intended these to beat almost anything in space and an AG-System for long deployments is almost required for a ship like that!)

    • @HellsRaven4444
      @HellsRaven4444 6 лет назад +2

      It does, though they never specified what type of Shadow technology specifically. I and some other fans believed it to be most likely a software-based technology, likely a computer core of some kind to help navigate in Hyperspace more effectively. Either that or a new form of power core which would explain how they managed to fit two of those Particle Beam cannons onto the ship and provide enough power for them.

    • @kommodore6691
      @kommodore6691 6 лет назад +6

      Yeah they have hidden Shadow tech in the control systems, Ivanova's Warlock Titans is the only one without it according to short stories by Straczynski himself. They were probably going to have the ships be taken over by the Drakh at some point or something similar with the ships going out of control. So for all its advances probably not a ship you would want to be on or have in your fleet.

    Wow I’m surprised no one made the correction. The god cannons are commonly misrepresented as those two small particle cannons as shown in this video. This is a mistake. Those cannons are no different than the cannons found at the aft of the omega glass. The actual GoD cannons can be seen on either side of the ship, above the plasma mortars, inside the lattice structure. It ends with a antenna dish structure. That’s the focusing dish. The particle beams can be slightly moved during firing. Only slightly. But that’s how big and long those god cannons really are. You made an oops Spacedock !
