- Alex and I left Northern Germany and embarked on a massive hitch hiking adventure through Germany, Austria, Liechtenstein, Switzerland and Italy! We hopped into 18 different cars and had a budget of 55 Euro. This was one crazy adventure, my most crazy yet.

I'm glad you reminded me of this comment i left years ago :) Yes, we hitchhiked together a few times, the first trip was from Belgium to southern France, another one from London to Fort Williams and the most recent one was in France again this summer. Not exactly across Europe, but it was great nonetheless. I'm looking forward to do it again!! Have a nice day I hope you get to hitchhike as well if that's something you're interested in :)

I believe you choose france and uk because you can Talk with those people - therefore it would be a Challenge to Go Out of that area.

Hey Elizabeth, I completely understand how you might feel.
I have many female friends who have hitch hiked in many different continents of the world.
I would always stay clear of hitch hiking at night, and when you're not feeling comfortable in a particular car ride, to ask politely to pull over and form some kind of excuse.
But just do be careful. As much as I promote hitch hiking, it is quite dangerous. Just make sure you have friends and family who know where you are :)

In a nutshell; make sure the car can pull over safely to pick you guys up, every car that comes by has potential to pick you up so always have a smile on your face even when sometimes it's exhausting :')

I hitch-hiked a lot, and as I smoked myself, smoke didn't disturb me, but lately I have had to turn down rides with smoking drivers - unless they were ready to renounce on smoking when having me as a passenger. ....Do any others know the problem? Just opening the window mostly isn't satisfactory.... I even think I must bring a sign: NON-SMOKING!!! next time I venture in hitchhiking.
