  • You might remember Kai McGillvary, the Hitchhiker who turned into a viral sensation in 2013. He was interviewed on television about helping a woman in need. Today, he’s a convicted killer. A jury found him guilty of attacking a man to death, but he insists he’s innocent. “I didn’t realize he got killed. I didn’t know that,” he told Inside Edition in an exclusive jailhouse interview. Kai believes critical evidence was ignored or destroyed in his case and he’s filing an appeal. #InsideEdition

More on this matter, the attorney of Kai posted this on his FB page. "This trial should have never been held in the same county where the victim (a lawyer) is friends with the Head Judge (or magistrate), the Prosecutor (Also a lawyer) and the Chief of Police.
Sounds like he will be freed soon to me. The appeal trial will be held in another county.

Mia Naomi The issue with the case is that although there was evidence Kai was drugged and sexually assaulted, the lawyer let him leave the next day and Kai came back to spend another night. Also, as horrific as sexual assault/rape is, Kais life was likely not in peril and did not need to kill the lawyer to get away.
Not saying I agree, but this is the rationale for the guilty verdict. I think something needs to be said about a young hitchhiker getting national praise for hatcheting a man to death to protect himself and others. IMO that could have given Kai the wrong impression about life.

Yea I disagree, this guy seems sociopathic.
Watch the original interview. He seems like he likes to hurt people and is ready and willing to if an opportunity presents itself (the story of him bashing a guys teeth in, and also using a hatchet to bash this guys head), he might have been able to incapacitate them with out destroying them and the way he described the incidents, he was so into it, it's like he enjoyed it.
Also lied about where he's from and gave a little smile and wink like he was pulling over one this interviewers eyes. They love to deceive. He's an illegal immigrant from Canada.
Then it comes out later, in a different interview, ruclips.net/video/QTNguT1a6q4/видео.html, that he was abused/molested, wanted to runaway from home as kid. Things that happen with young sociopaths. And they use empathy to get you on their side. Make it seem like they're the victim. They're also extremely impulsive and impulsiveness can lead them to risky situations, like murdering a guy when staying at his house. Something's off about this guy, you don't just happen to wind up in these messed repeatedly situations by accident.

I’ve been on the streets like him hitchhiked from Tucson to Denver back down to Phoenix where I got picked up from my girlfriend and she took me back to Tucson and was never put in a situation where I had to kill someone, defend myself yes but not kill someone. So I find it extremely coincidental that he was in two situations where his only option when defending himself was to kill the person.
