Interesting - I have a "grey market" Yanmar tractor .. it is a 2 cylinder diesel .. love it . I changed the fuel filter and now I can get it to run smooth .. :) I obviously have air in the line ... I does NOT have glow plugs believe it or not . but I like it . slips out of high range some so may be a winter project this winter ... (I noticed the fuel hose coming from the fuel tank is quite bad looking .. maybe air is getting in the line from that) ....Gary

G'day Lance, love your vids. Good to see "old school" mechanical repairs still being done, brings back many fond memories for me as a mechanic for 30 years working on cars. It's a shame the old skills are going by the wayside these days, most modern mechanics only know how to unbolt the old bit & bolt on the new. In my day as well as yours i bet, we used to "rebuild" water pumps, wheel cylinders, brake master cylinders & dare i say it "cv" joints etc etc. Today they don't even machine drums and discs when fitting pads and shoes, just stick on new ones.....what an expensive waste. Anyhoo, keep up the good work ... i'll be watching.
    Cheers for now,
    Peter ... Melbourne Vic

Im in the process of getting some old style workshop things restored for the videos so hopefully it will bring back some memories for you. Old cup wheel grinder and Repco valve grinder and syncro seat cutter etc.

@@BundyBearsShed- Slightly younger guy here, but with white beard anyway. LOL :-)
Since I don´t do commercial repairs anymore.
The "old school" approach is by far my preferred choice, my wallet agrees with me and my equipment love the attention.
I must say that I´ve got a love&hate relation with loose bearings. Last time it was in a Johnson outboard crankshaft. Hate it in the beginning, love it when done and working perfectly. ;-)
Our times of disposable stuff, made quite a blunt strike. I don´t even know where to find a place to reline brake shoes and similar things it simply vanished with the older guys.
Last time I bought a rebuild kit for brake wheel cylinders the kid on the counter looked at me with eyes wide open in surprise!
Getting some bearings and carbons for a starter motor set me back 6€ instead of 250€, although they still look like I´m doing something awkwardly funny... I see people replacing entire CV shafts because one rubber boot is gone! Well just some random rant. LOL :-)
Well done, l like the video and presentation.
      Cheers

Hello Lance, very infromative Video. Great Quality and nice and easy to understand. Could you explain by any chance what happens if you would potentially put one less ball into the nut then required. Having a hard time figuring out if it would affect the workings and in which way it would. Thank you in advance, Moritz

G day Moritz, To tell you the truth you probably wouldn't notice it, I have seen many work reasonably well and when serviced a ball drops out, so no big deal, possibly a little notchy and that is all.

Very informative video. My steering box broke and luckily my brother welded it back together for me. This worm gear seems to be fine on mine but the steering still jams up. Something is missing. I need to see a complete break down of the entire steering. It seemed like it worked on some type of crazy voodoo until I ran across your video. I'm slowly learning.🙄

No as the nut is often the same but different manufacturers had different dash positions and that changed shaft length so no one size fits all Im afraid.

I have a Kubota B8200 with a similar steering system. Mine had rainwater get past the seal on the steering shaft and into the steering gear box. Then on days when the temps are below freezing the water in the steering gear box turns to ice and destroys the bearing holder on the steering shaft nut when you attempt to steer.
