- From a live performance at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, conducted by Placido Domingo, with Dame Kiri te Kanawa as Rosalinde, Hermann Prey as Eisenstein, Benjamin Luxon as Falke, Doris Soffel as Orlovsky, and Hildegarde Heichele as Adele.
Sat in Royal Box in Vienna aged 21 with my parents and watched this operetta 1973 - the only available tickets! Was on holiday from DurbanSouth Africa.
By far the most charming, funniest, bubbliest Fledermaus! Please please RUclips make us happy by restoring the full performance?

Mine too, so bubbly, I have a DVD... Domingo was fun to watch when he was conducting and there was even Funiculi Funicula in the jail cell :)

@@elspethmiller5042 A late answer - I've only just found this on RUclips - but yes, Hinge and Bracket performed 'Three Little Maids'.
Annemarie. And I was at home, with my mother, watching it. Oh well. 'Bruderlein und Schwesterlein' is the very first piece of music that I remember as an infant. My father had 'Die Fledermaus' on a Marble Arch record and his record collection was played on a 50s Garrard player. This piece certainly made an impact as, even half-a-century later, it still gives me chills hearing it.
@@elspethmiller5042 yes, when I saw this production in London Hinge & Bracket were part of it in the second act but I don’t know if they were at the Vienna production. The London version was fantastic, great fun, amazing in every way.

I was always concerned about the ballet dancer who was sitting swinging her legs on the balustrade up in the gallery. I have an aversion to heights. Obviously she hadn't!
Superb production, congratulations! I thought only Charles Aznavour looked rather out of place but this is by far the funniest, bubbliest and most charming Fledermaus available to watch! The interaction between Maestro Domingo and the Jailer in Act 3 in priceless. Please Please RUclips make us happy and restore the full performance in time for 31 December!

Try as I might, I just can't like te Kanawa's voice or acting. I wish there was a film of Richard Tauber's Eisenstein. I have highlights on cd, but would love to have seen him in a full-length "Bat"!
great singing. not a fan of placido at the stick. it's almost a hot mess towards the end
