It actually works... I tried it with my hand at first, pushed it with some amount of force and i obviously couldn't do that while playing. I had lots and lots of old study books at my home so i decided to pile them up on the left side of my super slim and it worked.... Hope this helps
thanks alot man, saved me some cashflow lol, i just took it apart then put a chunk of wood inside right where you had yours, then screwed it back together with that little chunk of wood squished against that power fuse thing and now it's running smooth with a little chunk of wood mcgivered into it lol haha
Just to let people know it's not a power supply issue. I had the same problem on mine purchased a new OEM power supply and the problem still remains. It's a problem with the soldering on the motherboard.
What part on the mother board I brought new connectors but the ps3 just cuts on then off but I'm afraid it might catch on fire since I replaced the ribbon cables
Overheating issue. The power supply heats a lot and that causes the connections under the chip to to heat as well and disconnect and so the chip doesn't make contact with the actual motherboard of the power supply.
It's the solder balls on the rsx chip if you remove battery you will see a screw you can remove screw put 2 washers under screw tighten back up this puts pressure on the rsx chip same thing with the ps4 apu chip you can put washers under the pressure screws to clamp the chip to the board this helps the crack solder balls to clamp back together. There's another way to fix this put a coin under the battery on the screw I was on about this will clamp the gpu same trick as the wood but you remove battery place we're you see the screw and the piece metal that looks like it bends out place coin on that piece of metal put battery back the battery will clamp the coin causing pressure this is a easy fix.
It looks to me to be a solder joint that is broken on the Power Supply. I had a problem with an HDMI Switch for my TV that wouldn't power up unless I pressed down on the board like that. I took it apart and added more solder. It isn't that difficult as long as you don't bridge any points by using too much solder
Thanks for the vid, pretty sure as another commented said this is actually not the psu but the chip, I tried the wood and it worked but if I put something under the power supply which now creates a force in a different direction for the psu but the same for the chip it works, I tried a re flow but no luck.
Hi, by looking at the area you are pushing with the stick, It seems to me that your RSX video chip is right there...try taking your power supply out and tighten the 2 screws underneath a little so it makes better contact with the heat sync. what might be happening is it getting hot and turning off because it is not making good contact
It has NOTHING to do with the power supplu unit. It is the RSX chip underneath that has the problem. No easy way to repair this. You probably need a new motherboard, which costs more than a used PS3.
I disarm my PS3 super slim bc it has the same exact problem. I push the power, tried to turn it on, and it didn't work. I´ll tell you all that it's not worth all the time, I think it's better to take it somewhere so they can fix it. I have lost so much time trying to fix this, don't recommend.
You do understand, that right under that component you're pushing on is the cpu/gpu, and it probably has loose/cracked/corroded solders and by pushing down? You just pushed it into contact with the board, nothing to do with PSU.
@@mikeanderson1994 Had the exact same problem, got it to work by applying pressure to that component. Then thought about it, put the cover back on and just pressed on psu with my hand, worked just the same, then applied pressure to the fan cover with my hand and it still stayed on by doing that.
It's because a strip in the power supply would short a chip if the psu isn't getting the right amount of power or a power outage could cause a chip to go bad. Just get new motherboard
Это, скорее всего, отвал, просто надо было отнести в ремонт, и всё перекатить обратно. Там как раз в этом месте находится видеокарта, ты её и прижимаешь.

Unfortunately i didn't found permanent solution, but every time i want to play games i put something heavy on console. Other solution can be if you can find used working power supply or make some kind of tool to keep console pressed.
Gaming with Luna quick question so earlier this year i bought a new superslim (500gb) because my old superslim (also 500gb) crapped out on me it always shuts down by its self after being on for a few minutes saying the system has become hot but i always inspect the system to make sure but it didnt feel hot to me (weird tho) lol anyways now that i have a new superslim is it possible to just remove my hardrive from my old superslim (it has all my saved game data, trophies, movies, music, photos, dlc games etc.) and insert it into the new game cosole so pls respond to my comment it would make my day anyways y'all have a blessed day happy holidays & stay safe :D

It is the thermal paste that dried out
Its the reball of cpu has to repair and it could be fixed

yes seems like a cracked solder joint in the power supply maybe under the large coil or nearby it, due to thermal expansion and heat i suppose.
Sooo. Put a piece of wood in the ps3?

Which chip are you talking about? The one with the large heatsink or the one with the 4 chips on top of the main chip?
it's the 12v plug on the left. Tighten the contacts in the socket again and the problems are gone
so i have to hold this wooden piece for life time?
It's the board, resolder all the joints on the bottom. This might fix the problem.
The board on the power supply ?
Could you tell me the model and serial number and specie/specs of the wood and if it's available online to buy from amazon/ebay?
