- Today’s feature is the story of the other side of the music business they don’t speak about enough. When talent just can’t seem to find its window against the competition. With a slew of artist that would become hip hop legends, creating a golden era of hip hop from the early to mid 90s, Da Bush Babees constantly found themselves just on the outside looking in. They could see the party, hear the music, even had jamming music of their own to add to the function, but never got their time center stage. This led to an obscure career legacy for a group that just faded away into the forgotten realm of dope music passed on because of circumstances miscontrolled. For a few moments Da Bush Babees looked like they were about to hit their stride, with singles like “We Run Things aka it’s like Dat” “The Love Song” and “Remember We”, as extensions of the conscious collective Native Tongues that produced legendary hip hop artist and groups like A Tribe called Quest, De la Soul, and Queen Latifah to name a few. Not to mention Mos Def, getting his first major look on Da Bush Babees lead single “The Love Song” in 1996. Da Bush Babees were 3 new York artist with Caribbean backgrounds in the heart of new York City where it all started, among a melting pot of rap artist trying to get on with a similar sound and concept of conscious. Da Bush Babees came up in a classic time, but never joined the same legacy. What Happened. Da Bush Babees Life From The Outside Looking In! (Hip Hop Golden Era) Stunted Growth Music

I remember them! Fact: Hype Williams directed their first video.
Because you cover so many artists fro back in the day, I've gotten a new interest in that era 90s-00s of Black music.
I was wondering if you could do a video on D'angelo. A man that talent that isn't really referenced in the mainstream anymore is crazy.
That gravity album was hitting. I got a promotional copy of that single they had with mos def. I liked the song so I cop a used copy from a mom & pop record store.
Gravity was a classic! I can still rock to it in 2024!
I get sad every time I remember the Golden Age 1990's. But i guess everything falls apart and eventually dies, Hip Hop was no exception, but dammnit.......I really wanted Hip Hop to be the exception.
I'd like you to do one on Bahamadia
These guys were the alternative to the gangster rap at the time. Thank you for showing me the way.
Never heard of them can't wait to watch! Do one on The College Boyz!
Da Bush Babees is one of my favorite rap groups of the 90’s ngl ❤💯🔥😭
I get sad every time I remember the Golden Age mid 1990's. But i guess everything falls apart and eventually dies, Hip Hop was no exception.

Hey brother do one with black sheep and Das efx
That Gravity album is my ish.
I like dem. Very true especially with Light being ahead of his time in a sense.
One of the dopest and unique groups that just were affiliated with an all-time clique, Native Tongues. Ambushed and Gravity still get play in my audios to this day.

They were dope their sound was their own and the visuals for their videos are classic‼️
Another great episode. I know it’s not your usual bag, but how about a Stunted Growth on Jonathan Majors aka Kang the Conqueror. It’d be cool to hear your thoughts and analysis. Respect.
I have a request 🤞🏾:
Smoothe The Hustler & Trigga The Gambler
Posdonous = Poss da Noose. Not post da notes! 😂😂
Do a video on MadKap!! Great Channel by the way.

You should do Naughty By Nature next.
I’ve been asking JC stunted growth to do a feature on Naughty for 2 years now lol 😂 I love seeing him do videos from the golden era
@@terucks Especially the forgotten artists.
They werent stunted, they had a prosperous career
What about their protégés the Rottin Razkals? Not too many people talk about them anymore.@@Black-Pill-7411

I'm here to comment on this: mos def and the ya mammy skit 😂 I had they 2nd album on tape
Please do “Binary Star”
'Masters Of The Universe' is a brilliant album.

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Out of all the rap groups
Can you please do a video on Azealia Banks, Jodeci, Boyz II Men, Brian McKnight Alicia Keys, Mya, Young M.A, YG and YoYo
Take a look at what happened to Kevin McCall
they were too much like The Pharcyde unfortunately
They always blame it on the record company. The Bush Babies were a mid group. That's why they didn't pop off.
I like the singles they had but I think they Gravity LP wasn’t good as I thought it was going to be.
Both great albums. The production on Gravity was a lot more polished and gave it a more mature sound compared to Ambushed.
Bruh, how are you commenting on hip hop and can't pronounce Pos Dnous(Pahs Da-noose)? De La been around 35+ years. That's a little disrespectful. i like your stuff but there's nothing wrong with not knowing stuff. That aint really your era. Or you wasnt really listening at that time. I'll still watch...but damn. that was like nails on a chalkboard.
They have cool songs but never liked the group name.
I remember the name but absolutely nothing about their music - which kinda sums them up. Too late to be Native Tongues 3rd stringers. Too early for Black Eyed Peas also-rans. No substance for underground acclaim. Nothing catchy or memorable to merit commercial success. Mid 90s meh.
This channel should be called east coast biased
Damn g , you reaching lmao . I’m 52 and barely remember them , they were aight, nothing great though ! they weren’t poppin like that on the west
